Chương 14: Chapter 13
Xyris P.O.V.
I was about to enter the dungeon when the two warriors who's guarding the place block my way. I look both of them with annoyance.
"Get out of my way." I hissed in irritation but the two only shook their head with determination.
"We apologize but it's an Alpha's order."
I bit my inner cheeks to control my anger towards the warrior. They are just following orders from my mate and I do not wish to burst out the anger that is not directed for them.
"I understand..." I said as my eyes slowly change its color. The warrior's eyes turn blank as they waited for my order. "I wanted to talk to the prisoner, allow me to enter the dungeon."
One of the men bows his head in submission while the other one walks towards the gate to open it. The warrior leads the way to guide me towards the room where they are keeping the man who threw the dagger.
My eyes squinted in irritation as I started to feel suffocated with the rooting smell of the blood around. We stop in front of a cell. The first thing that caught my attention is the bloodied man that is almost as good as dead in the ground. His hand is chained with silver and from the looks of it, he already suffered severe torture more than he can endure in this lifetime.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" My eyes turn to my mate whose eyes are squinting in anger. Mula sa akin ay lumipat ang tingin nito sa warrior.
"Do not blame your warrior about it." I said and look at the warrior who seems so baffled about what he is doing in this room. "You can go back to your post now." The warrior nodded and left immediately. Not wanting to take the anger of his alpha.
Xavier and Brandon is also here, it seems that they are really interested in finding out who wanted to capture me and why they wanted me.
Kaige looks at me with disbelief when he realize what spell I have cast to his trusted warriors.
"You shouldn't have come here." He sigh. I look at the man who is now limping on the ground. Xavier really did a good job on him.
"And let you murder that man who might be the only person who can answer my questions?" I answer as walk towards the open cell. The man in the cell smirks upon seeing me. I can't help but wince in disbelief. He is almost good as dead but he still manage to instill fear into me.
"Z-Zhav will be more than happy to meet you Luna." The man said with a crazy smirk on his face. "Duskfall pack might not be pleased with your presence but I can assure you that ours will be more than ecstatic."
I squat a little for our eyes to meet. I let my dryad side takeover to get the necessary information I need. "Tell me young man, why would the person you mentioned want me so much?"
The man's eyes went blank as he speaks the words that will surely hunt me to my sleep. "A wolf that is mated to a dryad will surely create a strong bloodline that can defeat even the strongest Alpha blood. Zhav wanted you to carry his heir, the next leader of the rogues." I close my eyes in a controlled anger and fear. Why? All of this is just because of the power I possessed?
Despite of what I feel, I look at the man in his eyes and started to sip his life.
"Take a rest now young man..." I whispered to his ear and lull him to fall in a deep eternal sleep.
The man's body slowly morph into a wolf as it flattened to the ground, lifeless. His body faded in a beautiful blue rose that will bloom forever, a flower that feeds in the soul of the wicked.
"Damn! I thought that the threat you have given to the previous Alpha is nothing but empty words. But it turns out that it is more than a threat after all." Xavier words made me look at him.
I stand up from the floor and walks towards the open door to leave the place. "Where are you going?" Alpha Kaige's voice stops me from leaving.
Kumuyom ang kamao ko sa tanong nito. "I need to leave. This pack is no place for me." Sagot ko.
I am about to take another step when Kaige hands pulls me, trapping me between his body and the hard wall of the dungeon.
"You are not leaving this place. Haven't you heard what he said? They wanted you for your power. You are not going to be safe out there!" He insisted.
That made me look at him with despised. "A person who is willing to go against the will of nature in exchange for a power." I let out a bitter laugh at his words. "Tell me Kaige, what makes them different from your pack? In reality, you two are cut from same cloth so stop acting as if you care!"
Kaige's eyes squinted in anger upon hearing my words. His hand tightened in my arm as his eyes turns into the darkest shade of grey, almost black. "Don't you dare to compare my pack over those lowlife rogues! You knew nothing about culture so you better keep your mouth shut." His tone is calm but the intensity of his words makes me slightly shiver in fear.
I take a deep breath to calm myself. Fear and anxiety is eating me but I cannot let it win. I close my eyes and let myself scatter around into tiny golden butterfly. When I open my eyes, I'm already in the same room that my mate assigned to me. I sat down on the bed and let my tears flow. I do not know what awaits me outside this pack however I cannot let anyone get hurt just to protect me. I shouldn't have come here in the first place.
"I hope that I am not interrupting anything Luna." My eyes turn to the weird looking woman who is standing near the open door of the room.
My forehead creased upon sensing her difference from the rest of the pack, a witch. "Who are you?" The woman smile at my question as she walks towards me.
"A dryad who chose a human as her vessel, aren't you an interesting little one?" She said. Her eyes were on the little golden butterfly that flies freely inside the room.
"My decisions are really none of your business witch. You did not answer my question. Who are you?" I asked again.
From the butterflies her eyes turns to me. "You can call me Liya." She answered as she close our distance.
I raise my eyebrow at her answer. "And?"
"And I am here to know who could be the reason of the ruckus in this pack house. I wanted to understand who could have the guts to threaten one of the most fearsome Alphas I have ever met." She takes the sit near my bed.
I look at her with disapproval. "I don't remember threatening your Alpha."
"Oh but you did." Wika nito. "Dryad's are known to have a calm and serene nature but you, you seems so troubled."
Napangiti ako sa komento nito. "Maybe becuase I am a half human and there is a crazy werewolf out there who wants me to be his baby momma." Sarkastikong sagot ko na nagpatawa rito.
"Yeah, that sounds really disturbing." Sangayon nito. She let out a smile and pat me in my shoulder. "This pack was prophesied to be destroyed by a human with my grandmother. That's why most of our pack members including the previous alpha is terrified with your sudden appearance."
Kumunot ang noo ko sa winika nito. "I am not a human." Maikling sagot ko rito.
"I beg to disagree. You are a human, though you have the dryad in you but that does not mean that your humanity is completely gone."
Tumayo ito mula sa kama at naglakad papunta sa nakabukas na pinto.
"Confusion, fear, anger and compassion. Those are the emotions that prove that you are a human." dugtong nito habang papalabas ng pinto.
I stared at her with awe. "Aren't you afraid? What if I am the human in tne prophecy? Aren't you afraid that I might really tear down this pack?
She let out a soft laugh at my question. "Dryads are mystic creatures who maintain the balance of nature. I know that the dryad in you aspire to change this pack for its unnatural tradition. The prophecy might be true, however sometimes for us to change something, breaking it is a must." She speak before closing the door of the room.
I look at the close door with astonishment. Completely speechless with the witch's word.
