Just as he was about to possess He Ruoxue, she suddenly flipped her hand and pulled out a dagger from the coat that had been tossed aside. She stabbed the old man's abdomen and watched as his blood dyed the quilt red. "A***, you are worried and scared," she said. "Don't worry, I'm here to send you off tonight."
2"My parents are dead, and so are my kidnappers," He Ruoxue said. "With you dead, no one will know what happened back then."
2She fiercely pulled out the dagger and watched as the old man fell. She wiped the dagger on the clean part of the quilt, quite pleased that the task seemed as easy as stepping on an ant. "Don't worry. You picked this place well. If someone finds you dead, they would think you're one of the many casualties of the earthquake."
2He Ruoxue laughed maniacally as if she had gone mad. She happily left the house, thinking that no one would discover her secret.
2He Ruoxue, however, she did not notice that someone darted into the house through the open window. The figure stood inside, looking at the man in danger of losing his life.
2"Save, save me," the man asked when he sensed the presence of another person in the house. He Lanjin, on the other hand, looked at him coldly as she pulled out a chair and sat down. "It's not impossible for me to save you," He Lanjin said. "But I need to know who ordered you to seek out that woman's parents. If you tell me what I need to know, then maybe I can save you."
2Although He Lanjin already had an inkling that He Ruoxue saved her that night for a purpose, He Lanjn did not expect to confirm this suspicion straight from He Ruoxue's mouth—and especially here, of all places.
2The man hesitated; how could these two women find him in the mountains and attack and threaten him within the same hour? He Lanjin cupped her face in her hand and smiled at the man. "What? That woman left you for dead to silence you forever, and here I am, your second chance at life but you still wouldn't talk? Since you're so loyal, I'll grant you your wish."
2As she spoke, He Lanjin stood up and took out Qiao Hanye's lighter from her pocket. She walked to the bed, lit the hem of the man's shirt, and said, "I'll help you."
2Having been stabbed, the man did not expect he could feel even greater pain than what he was already feeling. But his shirt was starting to burn, as was his skin. Only then did he realize that the woman in front of him was even more vicious and perverted than He Ruoxue.
2"Save me, I'll talk," the man said through gritted teeth. His eyes were rolling ceaselessly; he was quickly losing blood.
2"Then tell me now," He Lanjin demanded, her arms crossed in front of her chest as she looked down at him. "I don't want you going back on your word after I save you."
2He Lanjin was a good person, but she would not tolerate someone who would scheme against her family like this man did, ten years ago. She had to know who ordered this man to do what he did.
2"I'll talk, I'll talk," the man cried, fearful for his life.
2The man hid in the mountains with the secret to keep from being hunted down, but who knew the earthquake would smoke him out? Now that he was caught, what choice did he have left?
2"Tell me who that person is," He Lanjin said. "And I'll protect your life."
2He Lanjin had learned a thing or two about medicine these past few days as a volunteer. This, plus her previous training at the Military Academy, had told He Lanjin that although the old man had lost blood, he was not in danger of dying immediately. He still had a few minutes, and could still tell her what she needed to know.
2The man beckoned He Lanjin closer and whispered a few words to her. After the man stopped speaking, He Lanjin turned around and started to leave.
2"Save, save me," the man said as he pulled the hem of He Lanjin's shirt. He fell from the bed, the fire getting extinguished as he rolled on the floor, which was dyed with his blood.
2He Lanjin walked out of the house and returned with a chain she found outside. She put the chain around the man's neck and tied the chain to the window rail. "I can save you, but I don't know if I can trust a dishonest person like you," she said in a low voice. "I need to verify the information you gave me. Now, you better stay put."
2He Lanjin immediately sent a message to Qiao Hanye. Before long, he arrived with some men who carried the old man away.
2"Mr. Qiao, come over quickly." He Lanjin said as she sat cross-legged on a chair.
2She happily waved as she saw Qiao Hanye come in after ordering the men to take the old man away.
2Qiao Hanye looked at He Lanjin's face, which lit up as she looked at her phone. She was smiling strangely, which told him that she was up to no good. But what could he do? This woman was growing on him every day, and he could not help but dote on her.
