"Chaaaaaaaarge!!!"
Daisy screamed as she charged with her sisters toward the central group of Oni attackers.
Her new maid clothes felt oddly constraining and even more so than the heavy armor she wore on top of it. Yes, it felt uncomfortable, but as her heart beat accelerated plumping more blood through her body and her muscles tensed up in response to the enemies approaching, all her feelings were quickly thrown in the back of her mind leaving only the adrenaline rush taking over control.
As the two armies approached each other, Daisy used the newly learnt special maid steps, suddenly appeared 5 meters ahead of where she was, as if she had made a close distance teleport with the help of nothing but her legs. This skill was not free though and could easily tire her up if she abused it but her battle experience and instincts told her this was the best way to proceed so she did it without a second thought.
Appearing right in front of the enemy she quickly swung her axe with the same mastery she acquired while working as a soldier, delivering a heavy hit in the three lined up Oni closest to her.
"Hyaaaaa~~~~!!!"
""Ghaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!""
The three Oni were unable to react, because of the full body armor they didn't even know Daisy was a maid so when she appeared swinging her axe right in front of them their bodies froze in place due to the surprise, allowing Daisy's axe to proceed unimpeded as it cut right through their bodies, creating a blood trail that spread forward as the confined blood escaped it's broken container.
Not even a second after Daisy the other armored girls followed her steps as if it was all agreed beforehand. Their attacks was not as devastating but was still able to kill one or two Oni's at the same time.
Unfortunately, despite killing over 20 enemies in this single move, this was still far from enough. This enemy group alone had three times this number, leaving about 40 healthy fellows to counter attack now that their initiative was gone.
Feeling the multiple strikes coming at her, Daisy watched the spears and swords closing in as she moved her body just enough to avoid any strike on her head and neck. Her tin can armor, despite being unfashionable, covered her whole body and was quite sturdy, so, unless it was a full power strike from a heavy weapons like a claymore, war hammer or axe, Daisy doubted any attack could damage her as long as it didn't hit her head.
After parrying another attack aiming at her face, Daisy noticed how unskillfully the enemy was wielding their weapons. It was like they didn't receive any training at all, making her wonder if this was a trap.
"Don't let you guard down!"
"Ah-!!!!"
Even though she tried to warn the other girls, it was too late for two of them as suddenly arrows flew from inside the enemy group and pierced right through their necks.
"Damn! Focus on defending! Just hold the line!"
Daisy didn't have time to mourn the dead girls as more and more attacks were directed at her. Taking a defensive position she focused on defending and stopping the enemy advance, which were the primary roles assigned to her. Maybe she could kill a dozen more if she desired so, but doing it would open way for more skilled warriors to entrap her, so she used her inexpedient enemies as a buffer to allow her to buy more time in a safer way.
While the 13 armored girls were stopping the enemy's middle group, the cat girls arrived at the enemy located in the left side. Transforming into their beast forms just meters away from them, they pounced at the enemies swinging their large claymores like knifes with one in each hand.
The enemies were surprised by the transformation but they had plenty of experience in their back, allowing them to respond just in time. As the first unlucky soldiers fell to the cat girls attack, the other Oni soldiers circled around them, before attacking all at once, making it impossible to avoid.
The cat girls had no armor, so, any attack could be threatening to them. Feeling they would be pierced no matter what, they charged forward while exposing their back, making use of large predictable swings to clear the path before them.
The enemy already expected that, a cornered beast is sure to fight back with all it's might, they remained calm and tried to block the cat girl's escape route by blocking each girl with two of them, while the remaining would attack their back. Unfortunately they underestimated the girls and ended up being pushed back, the formation collapsed and their positions reversed.
Seeing this battle from afar Apollo put his hand over his forehead. While he did tell them to charge at the enemy, he didn't really expect their charge to actually succeed, allowing them to pass through them. He just wanted to do some damage before retreating to make a hit and run tactic while distracting the enemy of his real objective which, right now, was simply buying time.
"Group C and D, attack the enemy from both sides and finish them off!"
(Well, since they succeeded, they might as well succeed all the way!)
Group D had just started preparing to use their skills when the new order arrived, making them stop on their tracks and grab back the weapons they had left on the ground.
As for the right side, as soon as they reached midway through the mountain and started moving to flank the armored girls, Bacon activated the trap card, I mean, the mechanism, letting go of all the stocked logs over them.
Seeing over a hundred logs suddenly rolling down the mountain, the Oni were forced to run the opposite direction or else they would be hit by them.
"Hahahahaha! This is really fun! Quite good! You are quite good! Entertain me more!"
Down the mountain, over the sedan chair, a hysterical laugh was produced by the one and only Master located there. He watched with indifference as his pawns died one by one as he analyzed the enemy's strategy, not feeling any danger despite the battle not being in his favor.
"That's great. Now, what will you do when I do this? Fire troops, go hunt down those big cats!"
""Yes, Master!""
At his command a new squad entered the battlefield. Different from the other squads who had no clothes, this squad was fully clothed in red uniforms and all of them held twin swords in their hands.
"Charge!"
""Chaaaaarge!!!!!!!!!!""
If you are wondering, the reason there are so many "soldiers" in the enemy's army is because he is using jobless servants as soldiers. There is no limit for the amount of jobless servants you can produce, so, theoretically, as long as you have food, time and resources, you can make as many as you want. Obviously jobless servants will have no knowledge over any technique or skill, but they can still slowly learn them through normal methods like normal drills and having professionals training them.
