"Right... my name's Regis, Regis Venuste" The 'prince charming' guy said. Now I guess I should call him Regis
There was a line to get into the borders of Rosier. Most of them are with a carriage so I guess their all merchants. From the information we were given I thought these two countries are at war, I guess I was wrong.
Regis didn't even bother to line up and just walked to the front, it's either he's stupid or he's really really powerful... I guess we can't really do anything, we just followed behind trying to hide our face and shame for cutting the line. I mean personally I feel no shame towards these things I just think that we drew the long straw and the others didn't
"Hello good sir, I'm Regis Venuste and we would like to enter the country" Regis had a sort of ID out
"V-Venuste?! Yes, of course, sir right away!" the soldier guarding the entrance was really flustered and almost immediately they let us through, I guess Regis is really important after all.
"We'd need an ID to live and work here right Mr Regis?" Liz just asked without shame huh? Wait... I'll have to actually work in this world... can't believe I just realized that.
"Yes, and you have to call Mr I'd love to take you through you're entire journey, however, I have something to tend to tomorrow. Even so, I can bring you to create your ID"
Sweet! That means we'd get to cut whatever line there is... even though it's kinda shameful heheh.
So he took us to the ID making building or whatever you call that. Everything we passed looked so medieval and the roads are just solid soil with no grass. Horses were everywhere, maybe that's the fastest transportation in this world.
When we got into the building there was really long line for the registration lady. I guess this country is popular. Either that or people can make more money here. Hehehe those unfortunate souls, they don't get the chance to cut the line like us!
Regis helped us through the line and all of us got into individual rooms.
In the room, there was only me and a girl on the other side of the table, she seems nice so I guess I'll have to keep my nice persona on the whole time... what a pain. On the table, there was this gauntlet thing that seems to be made of a lot of beautiful ores.
"Just put your hand inside," She said, she probably had to do this for the whole day, can't blame her for not being welcoming
I wore the gauntlet and it changed to fit on my hands. Then all the sudden it started glowing, but it wasn't as bright as the mysteries light that brought us into this world.
"Done, here you go" She gave me a card:
Name: Rainer Burns
Race: Human
Class: Sorcerer
Height: 173 cm(5'8'')
Weight: 64 kg (141 lbs)
Gender: Male
Birthday: August 2nd
Age: 16
Wow... I'm 16 no matter what world I'm in.
I got out of the room disappointed and everyone seemed to have their IDs too now. I'm hungry haven't had a proper meal in a day and a half now. How did I even survive this long without food?
"Well, unfortunately, I have to leave you. I do hope that you love Rosier. Here are some coins to keep you alive for a little bit. Good luck and goodbye" Regis said his goodbye and gave Liz 20 gold coins and that aura for one last time, for now at least, personally I hope we never see him again
"I'm hungry" I whined
"5 gold coins, just how much is this?" Liz asked scratching her head
How are we supposed to know?! You are the most adaptive of us and you're asking us?!
"Let's just look around and find some trustworthy restaurants to finally eat!" Jess's stomach rumbled and so did mine, Liz and Jack's
We walked around and it seems that we're in the medieval period with some advice technology for its time and some magic sprinkled into the lore of this world. Every restaurant we came across had a bar and at first, we didn't go in any because we didn't want to come across a drunk person, but eventually we gave in. Our hunger was too great for our pride.
Corn and beans were common, along with pork, mashed potato with gravy and water cost 4 silver coins and that's the least costly set in the menu. If we mad only corn and beans and water that'll be 5 so the set is more worth it and if sci-fi movies taught me anything it's that potatoes and make you survive for a long time.
The waitress told us that 10 silver coins are one of the golds. So we're running on normal fantasy currency which is wayyyy easier to understand compared to real word's currency.
"If I did the math correctly, this will make us survive through 12.5 meals each or 4 days of perfect health if we only eat this. We also need a place to say which would probably cost us even more money. That means! We're broke..." Jack rambled on and on about the math after that, but it just means we're broke
"I think Liz and I will be alright with our money, but you two are worrying, to say the least," Jess said staring at both me and Jack
"I know Jack is spoiled, but why drag me into this?!" I'm not spoiled and I know the value of cold hard cash!
"You know the value of money, but you like spending it either way" Liz glared at me with one of her very very scary aura
"Touche... touche" I'll lose this argument, for now, I think the reason I wanna scream is that she isn't wrong.
We finished the food and now we have 18 gold coins and 4 silvers left. We divided it equally to all of us and got 4 gold coins and 6 silvers each. Corn and beans tasted terrible, but the mashed potatoes made up for it at least
"We really need a job" Jack looked really said
"Let's be adventurers, I've seen most of the people's stats here and the average power level for everyone is 3.968" How in the world did Jess calculate all that?! I guess both Jess and Jack is in top-class math. Meanwhile, I and Liz are in second-class.
We asked a lot of people for directions to the adventurer's guild and I gotta say besides from that lady that did my ID everyone is so nice here. One elder woman even offers to take us to the guild, but she looked like she really needed a rest so we declined. I might be a douchebag, but I ain't crossing the unspoken line!
We got in the guild...
"What the hell!?" An orange-haired guy with wolf ears and tails shouted
"Please, don't shout. The rules are the rules and we can't change it no matter how skilled you claim to be" The registration dude tried to claim the wolfman down
"Excuse me, but what's going on?" I swiftly made my entrance and shined that aura I've worked so hard to perfect. It claimed the wolfman down a bit, but he still looked mad
"Apparently even if you're really strong you can't be a member until your twenty!" The wolfman glared the registration guy
"Unless special occasions" The registration guy still wouldn't look the wolfman in the eyes
That's a shame... now, what are we gonna do for money?
"If you wouldn't mind, can you please tell what a group of 16-year-olds could do to not starve?" If I played on his sympathy I might get into the guild hehe
"You can always go to ISTA. The people who graduate funds the academy and the tuition is free. The International Stars Training Academy, it's the most popular school in this continent. They're holding their entrance exam is in 3 days, if you take a carriage you can get to Milieu in a day or 2 at most. Milieu is the city closest to ISTA. It only takes at most an hour of walking to get from the city to the school"
"You could've said that all along, old man?!" Wolfman shouted again
"You sure know a lot of things about travelling" I tried to lighten the blow of wolfman shouting old man, I mean no one in their right minds wants to be called old right?
"Be more like this kid you'll learn a lot from him" the registration guy pointed at me, making me an example
I got back to the group and told them everything. After that, we head for a carriage to take us to Milieu, apparently, a lot of people around the world are going there to apply for the exam. It really is popular huh? Dozens of carriages were going for ISTA so naturally, we picked...
"The cheapest one..." Jack said in disappointment. I'm with you on this one. It's just a plane carriage. It doesn't even how proper seats! It cost 6 silver to get there each so now I only have 4 gold coins left... I wanna cry!
"Heh! Looking all high and mighty you're actually broke!" The wolfman tried to piss me off while getting in the same carriage
Can I kill him?
I was radiating an aura that made Liz really uncomfortable so she cracked and said "No, don't kill him. If you do Jess is gonna kill you, just look at her"
I glanced at Jess and her eyes were filled with pink hearts looking at that wolfman "My puppy" she muttered. Wow... she is gonna go yandere someday I'm one billion percent sure.
We also got into the cart and there were 5 others with us, not including wolfman. It was totally suffocating, but I can't wait to see what Milieu looks like!
Still up for advice, suggestions and criticism. I'm still not great at writing and I don't think it really hooks the reader in so any advice at all would be amazing
Also, again keep in mind I can't upload every day. I'm so sorry about this fact, but the next chapter will be in a week!
