Chương 44: Chapter 43 - News from Afar

For three weeks after finding the temple that held the three-tails inside, Ernie continued to pay the creature multiple visits. The two of them talked, and the three-tails eventually told him that there were eight others just like him. Ernie already knew that information, but still it felt good to hear it from the beast himself.

Ernie didn't know if this could be considered a budding friendship between the two, but he found himself enjoying the three-tails company. He wasn't wild, rude nor did he act arrogant. Instead, he remained calm the entire time.

Every Sunday, the villagers would gather at this temple and pray to the three-tails. Sometimes, Ernie even spotted a few children running to the temple and playing around it.

While the parents were very cautious at first, after three weeks they opened up a bit more. Seeing as whatever was inside the temple meant them no harm at all.

At first, the temple was dirty as moss grew on the sides of the pillars and parts of it was broken. Ernie took time out of his day to help clean the place up, and overtime it started to look better.

One thing that really stressed Ernie out was that he was so far away from civilization that he couldn't really interact with any other clans. He missed hearing about the clan drama that happened in the land of earth.

Ernie laid on the roof of his house and gazed at the sky.

All around him, people were working on the village. Homes were mostly complete right now, and there was even a mini market place set up. Some people started to build their shops back.

Ernie's home was still under construction, but it was almost finished. It was a large home with six separate buildings attached to it. In the front year there was a large training area that stretched to the front stone gate.

Currently it was able to hold up to twenty people, but that would increase later on. Right now, his small family was focusing on building up their clan's library that would house all the jutsu they learned.

For Ernie, he couldn't really determine the ranks of his skills.

Himari explained to him how rankings worked, and that only those who had the chakra capacity could learn them. Meaning, a person with Genin level chakra couldn't learn Jonin ranked techniques.

This is what Ernie was stuck on, since he's entered this world he's had great control over his body and chakra. He wasn't sure if it was due to him coming from the One Piece world with knowledge on devil fruits, but it helped him.

The problem was, he couldn't tell what rank one needed to be to learn his techniques. He couldn't get over it and it stressed him out more than not knowing what was going on in the world right now. So he thought to clear his mind and came here to his rooftop to relieve his stress.

'Why does this have to be so complicated, can't they make this easy for me?'

Ernie thought to himself.

'Besides, the only people who will use it are our family members, i'm sure they can figure out what skills they are able to use by themselves. Not like i'll be around to guide them all the time anyways. Not to mention, there is always someone who will organize the techniques later on and figure out their rankings.'

Ernie smiled and nodded.

'Yeah, let's just give them random ranks for now. Someone else can figure it out later!'

Ernie thought to himself as he would push all the future work onto someone else.

Managing everything else was easy, but figuring out the ranks of what he knew was difficult. He's never had to grade skills before.

"Ernie, there is a person wishing to see you."

Himari shouted.

Ernie sat up and looked down from the roof.

Himari was wearing black clothing with stains on it, that was mostly due to her working on a painting. Or it could be from something else.

After saying that, she left and went inside their home.

Standing at the front gate of his home was a man with short brown hair wearing clothes that reminded Ernie of a peasant. His eyes were dark blue, and his left arm was wrapped in bandages.

Ernie jumped down from his roof and greeted the man.

"Hello."

"Yes, hi. I have travelled a great distance and noticed a clearing leading to this place. I can see here that you are building up quite a place."

The man spoke calmly.

"Yes, it's a work in progress. What caused you to travel?"

Ernie started to pry for information.

"I won't lie to you, my clan was driven away from the land of lightning and currently we have a few injured souls. The current place we are resting in isn't really suited for our taste, so along with a friend have been searching for a new place to settle. I can tell that not everyone here is from the same clan, so I was wondering if we would be able to settle here as well. When I asked around, they told me you were the one I needed to speak to."

The man explained.

Ernie squinted his eyes a little.

"Did you lose a war with a clan is that what drove you from the land?"

The man stayed silent for a moment.

"Not… exactly. It's a complicated tale. I'm not sure if you've heard of the Uchiha clan?"

Ernie nodded, he's more than just heard about them.

"Together with some other clans in the land of lightning they hunted us down and killed us on sight, forcing my remaining clansmen to flee. All of it started after the death of the daimyo in the land of lightning."

The man didn't know why Ernie had a grin on his face, but it freaked him out a little.

He found this place by luck and knew that if he did not find a suitable land for his clan they would be forced to live in that horrid valley. His only hope was that Ernie was not on the side of the Uchiha clan, or else his clan would be annihilated.

"Come, follow me. I want to talk more about the situation in the land of lightning…"

Ernie said to the man as he gestured for the man to move forward towards the villages main hall.

This is just what he wanted, more information. It seems that the Uchiha's reach spreads far. Still, in the land of earth he's never heard of a clan being driven out of the land. This was new to him and it was pretty exciting.

"Oh, what's your name by the way?"

Ernie asked the man as they walked.

"Kazue."
