Chương 16: Capital of the Dead
General POV
Ender examined the place and felt a barrier surrounding them.
"Someone made a barrier around the prison."
"Are we trapped?" asked Ban.
Ender shook his head: "Nah, just do your normal greeting with the captain and you will come out.
This spell is weak. Humans always compare you Sins to them but you are different."
Ban smiled and both continued their walk.
As Ender and Ban turned a corner, they saw Meliodas and the rest coming in their direction.
Ender felt the tension rising between Meliodas and Ban before he yawned and sat on the ground with his back on the stone wall before taking a nap.
It was a quick nap as the Enderman woke up because he felt the ground underneath him was slowly being destroyed.
"Would you please stop this kind of behavior? I am trying to sleep."
The two-arm wrestlers looked at Ender, annoyed.
"No," both said before continuing their contest of who had the bigger balls.
Ender continued daydreaming while falling to the ground about Meliodas and Elizabeth.
Then the daydream turned into a nightmare as he saw the gleeful face of Chandler examining him.
He hated the old man. He was the one who gave Ender the best and worst mission he ever had.
Flashback.
"You want me to do what?" asked Ender as he saw the old demon coming closer to him.
"I want you to go to the battlefield without your commandment. You are relying too much on it and there will come a day when something happens and your commandment is not going to help.
So for you to learn how to survive without it, you will leave."
"And what if I don't?" challenged Ender.
"You can't say no, Ender. Chandler is right.
You need to learn how to fight without your commandment. I will personally take it from you," the Demon King spoke.
Ender then felt something coming out of his body. It was his commandment, his trump card Ender always relied on.
"Now go, Ender. Your mission is to kill somebody from the goddess clan.
You have to present to me the heart from a person of the goddess clan or you will never get your commandment back.
You have unlimited time, but you shouldn't take too much time."
Ender in front of the Demon King could only nod before he left.
Ender POV
Not good. I thought I could just live my life safely and not kill anyone.
Now, it is kill or be killed.
I don't want to kill anyone.
Why do they want me to kill so badly? It is not like I will feel better.
No, rather I would feel worse. I have to find a way to do it without killing somebody.
Maybe finding a corpse with a preserved heart and saying I did it?
My thoughts were interrupted when I saw somebody cast magic at me.
I immediately teleported away.
Even without my commandment, my body was not easy to damage.
"A demon in my territory? Fear not, I, Varion, will defeat you and become one of the archangels.
Like my cousin Mael is."
Looking up, I saw a person standing in the air, boasting about being superior.
A boy around the age of 15 with blond hair and blue eyes.
It was not new seeing them like that.
Most people of the goddess clan had a god complex and treated every other race beneath them.
So seeing such a young god was not something uncommon. They were brainwashed to see others like pawns.
"Piss off. I have better things to do," I said as I waved him off.
He frowned and many spears appears behind him.
What the hell? He was like a bad copy of Gilgamesh with his Gate of Babylon.
The swords came at me, but I easily dodged them with my teleportation.
More and more swords came out, but my teleportation was superior to his speed.
"Is that all you can do? I doubt this will place you with Mael or the other 3."
The boy roared and charged at me with a light sword.
He was fast but not as fast as me.
I continued dodging while he furiously tried to hit me.
Unbeknown to us, we soon entered a cave.
Inside the cave, Varion fired dozens of light beams at me and hit the cave behind me.
At that moment we realized we were in a cave and it started falling down.
We were already too deep inside to leave by normal means.
Then I saw a giant rock starting to fall on Varion that he didn't see and I decided to save him.
He seemed rather nice so I ran at him, grabbed him and teleported us out.
General POV
Outside, Varion looked at the cave that was destroyed with a shocked expression.
"Why? Why did you save me?
You are a demon.
I should have died inside that cave," asked Varion.
"You seemed like a cool guy and I didn't want you to die," responded Ender.
He frowned.
"You should have killed me. That's what you demons do. Your goal is to kill every single person."
Now Ender frowned.
"Not every demon wants to kill everyone.
Look at me. I saved your little ass from getting killed.
If I wanted to kill you I would have left you to die in the cave," explained Ender.
The explanation seemed enough for the boy.
After that Ender found out that Varion was out here to kill demons, but he found none.
As Ender had nothing better to do, he stayed with Varion and soon they became close friends.
The more time Varion spent with Ender, the more he started doubting the teachings of the Supreme Deity.
It was 6 months after Ender got the mission when he convinced Varion to leave his post and both traveled together while talking about their friend.
Varion explained how nice his cousin Mael and Lady Elizabeth were.
He still didn't like Meliodas, as Varion thought his cousin should marry Elizabeth.
While Varion talked about them, Ender talked about Meliodas and Melascula.
How he wanted to marry Melascula and live a happy life.
Then it happened.
A wall of black miasma formed around Varion.
"Ender, what is happening?" asked Varion.
"I don't know. This looks like a barrier made by demons. I have never seen such a thing," answered Ender.
Then sparks appeared and Varion screamed in pain.
"Varion!" shouted Ender as he banged his fist at the barrier, but he couldn't break it.
Teleporting didn't work either. Something was blocking the entry.
"Varion stay strong. I will find a way to get you out of there," said Ender, but then he was the smile on Varion's face.
"I don't think I will make it, Ender."
His voice was weak as the miasma began to crawl on Varion, engulfing his legs.
"No, I will not leave you behind. You are my friend. I don't care if you are somebody from the goddess clan.
I WILL SAVE YOU!"
With his fist, he slammed at the barrier and cracks appeared.
"Stay strong, Varion. I will break this thing!" screamed Ender as more and more cracks appeared on the barrier.
The last thing Ender saw from Varion was his smile before the miasma engulfed him completely.
"Noooo!" screamed Ender as he furiously punched the barrier with everything he had and destroyed it.
He ran to the body and ripped the miasma away.
Inside laid Varion.
"Hang on, Varion. I will get help."
"It... is too late," spoke Varion.
"I...am...dying."
Ender shook his head as tears fell down his eyes.
"You...were...a good...friend, Ender.
It was...nice...having you...as a friend."
"Stay awake, you idiot. Don't you dare close your eyes," roared Ender, but it was to no vain.
Varion heart stopped beating.
Varion, the cousin of Meal, and friend of Ender died that day.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" screamed Ender into the air.
"Hey, what is this noise? Did the trap really work?" asked a voice.
Ender turns his head to see 3 demons standing top of the hill.
"We did it! We killed somebody from the goddess clan!
Now we get a promotion," shouted another one.
"Better so. Those guys should just die. I hate those angels and gods," said the 3rd.
Ender listened to them and his eyes turned from their normal violet color to a darker purple, almost black as he activated his darkness power.
"YOU DARE TALK LIKE THAT ABOUR VARION? I DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE. I WILL KILL YOU!" screamed Ender as he ran at the demons.
Back in the demon world, Ender stood before the Demon King.
"You are back? Does that mean you killed someone from the goddess clan?" asked the Demon King.
Ender nodded without saying a word.
"Then you will have no problems telling that in front of Galand, right?"
Ender shook his head and looked at Galand.
"I killed Varion of the goddess clan. I have his heart with me," said Ender emotionless as he showed a heart in his hand.
Seeing that Ender didn't turn to stone, the others believed him.
His answer was not a lie, as Ender blamed himself for killing Varion. If he wasn't with him, he would have lived.
With that, Ender got his commandment back and was placed again as a general of the Demon King.
Flashback End
'Damm you Chandler. That was your fault. Just stay inside the coffin.
No one likes you,' thought Ender.
After the prison, Meliodas brought the daughter of the doctor back to him.
Ender frowned as he saw the wound Meliodas received. It was healed.
As Meliodas left the building, he saw Ender with his arms crossed.
"You are awakening the curse, Meliodas.
She already used her power during her childhood, but now she does it as a young adult. The longer you stay with her the faster she will regain her memories and then…"
Meliodas glared at Ender.
"Then I will save her. I will save her and that is all you have to hear, am I clear?"
Ender bowed.
"Of course. I will not interfere as long as her life is not in danger. That, I swear upon my life."
Meliodas smiled.
"Good. Then let's go."
At the boar hat, Ban introduced himself to Elizabeth.
"Well, I am here as well," said Hawk.
Ender laughed at the face Ban made as he saw the talking pig.
"Hahaha, that's the exact face I made when I first saw him."
Ender started dying of laughter when Ban said that Hawk was the cursed form of King.
The next day, Meliodas decided to go to Necropolis, where they wanted to find King.
"I always wanted to see what a ghost can do to me. Let's do it," shouted Ender excitedly, but something inside him was not ready to go.
When they reached the town, Meliodas gave each one a job to do.
Ender snorted when he got to be the spy and Ban the cook.
"Why do I have to be the spy? My cooking is at least better than the captains," said Ender.
The group ignored the black stick, so Ender just started looking around the town.
"Why should I look around a town which is dead? That makes no sense. Stupid captain," muttered Ender before he realized he was not in Kansas anymore.
"Ok, I don't think I should be here. Teleportation is out of the question as no spell works on me.
How did I get here?"
Looking around, Ender saw green emeralds everywhere.
'This is the true Capital of the Dead. But why am I here?'
Ender looked left and right. Nothing.
Sometime later an Enderman was running around.
"Help! Please, somebody, help me, I am stuck in the afterlife! I want to go to my mommy!"
"You are as funny as ever, Ender." A voice said.
Ender stopped his running and froze before continuing slowly walking away pretending not to hear the voice.
'Why is she here? Shouldn't she be with Ban? I have no courage to talk to her.'
"Ender, I know you can hear me so turn around and face me," the voice demanded.
Ender slowly turned around before seeing a familiar person near his face.
"Ehh, hello, how is it going?" asked Ender.
Elaine puffed her cheeks.
"What do you mean, how is it going?
I am dead and you mister have a lot to explain why you left me and Ban to the demon."
Ender avoided Elaine's eyes.
"Ender, look at me and tell me the truth. Why did you leave the other day? You would never leave me or Ban behind if it wasn't important."
Ender shook his head. He didn't want to say more.
"You leave me no choice."
Ender's eyes opened and to his surprise, he felt Elaine touch his face.
"I figured out your powers. As long as my intentions are not to harm you I can do it."
Ender realized what she wanted to do as she felt her invading his memories.
He tried to resist, but his commandment saw Elaina invasion not as an attack but as therapy for Ender's broken soul.
Because of this, Elaine saw the memory of Ender. How one of his friends Varion died,
How he was cursed by the gods and how his curse took control of him and how he tried fighting it only to be manipulated going to watch Elizabeth die.
Elaine put her hands away and saw Ender on the ground crying.
She felt sad for him.
"Ender, why are you crying? It was not your fault why I died."
"It doesn't matter. It was my fault I got this curse.
I could have fought it more, but I was too weak.
A coward who couldn't protect his best friends."
Ender felt a warm sensation as Elaine hugged him.
"I forgive you," she whispers.
"She is not the only one who wants to tell you something," spoke a voice.
Behind Elain materialized a familiar figure.
"Varion," spoke Ender as he met his dead friend.
The boy smiled.
"The one and only. It is good to see you again.
But I don't see the demon I knew before."
Ender looked down, not wanting to see into the eyes of his former friend.
"Ender, I don't want to see you in such a state. I already told you with my dying breath that I knew it was not you who killed me.
You were my best friend. How could I be mad at you?"
"We also hope that you live your life to the fullest."
Ender turned around and his eyes widened.
"Gowther, Glariza. So you are also here."
They smile.
"Yes, and that is thanks to you we are together.
You gave us a time where we could live together and you should know that we are grateful for what you've done."
The ghosts waved goodbye and disappeared.
Scene change
"I don't think we are alone here," said Meliodas.
"Gooooo awaaaaay. Youuuu destuuuurb theee deeeeaaaad.
Leeeeeeveeee ooooor yoooouuuuu shaaaaaalllll diiiiieeeee."
(Read that as if a ghost said it.)
Hawk and Elizabeth were horrified as the pig screamed for the ghost to show themselves.
Meliodas only shook his head in embarrassment.
"Stop fooling around, Ender. I know your voice very well."
Ender came out of his hiding spot.
"Party pooper."
"How are you here, Ender?" asked Diana.
Ender shrugged.
"Eh, I was doing my business. Spying around the town when I appeared here. Meet some ghosts from my past, spoke with them.
Overall, this place is nice."
Hawk shuddered by the mentioning of ghosts.
Ender went to Meliodas and whispered him into the ear.
"Gowther and Glariza say hi."
Meliodas' expression did not change, but Ender knew that he was happy for them to reunite.
"Well, I have to go and see what the other two are doing.
Bye."
Ender teleported the other two Sins before seeing that Ban was being fossilized by King.
"Man, you really want him dead. Well, too bad."
King saw Ender and frowned: "So you are here as well, Ender. Why are you here?
The last time I saw you..."
"Blah, blah, blah no one wants to hear about my story.
It is boring.
You should more focus on what is happening there."
Ender pointed at Ban, who was covered in lights.
The petrification broke as Elaine kissed Ban.
"Well, as everything is good here, I am off seeing that crazy bomb chick. See ya."
Talking his time and not teleporting, Ender looked back to see the reunion of brother and sister.
Purgatory
The Demon King looked through his minion's eye and saw that his pawn was still alive.
"The capital of the dead? It seems that I have to speed the process up.
Soon, Ender, you will be mine.
3000 years ago I already started the process of turning that useless pacifistic shell of yours to a perfect demonic being.
It was me who ordered the demons to place those miasma traps for the angel boy so he could die and you would blame yourself.
Everything is going according to my plan.
The transformation started 3000 years ago.
Now, it is only a matter of time before you change.
Land of the Dead
Seeing his friend down, Ender calmly walked towards the holy knight.
"Hello, young girl. Would you please be so kind and not attack my friends?" asked Ender with a kind voice.
Her response... She threw many fireballs at Ender.
Nobody but Meliodas saw the small smirk Ender had on his face as the fireballs disappeared.
The Enderman stood still with no scratch.
"That was not nice. Here, you can have them back.
"Reflect and Multiply"
Out of Ender's hand came 20 fireballs at the knight.
The holy knight was hit, but it would seem that she was fine.
"Your ability is the same as the traitor Meliodas.
It is nothing special," said Guila.
Ender smiled creepily and Meliodas felt him flaring his darkness.
Before Ender could do something that would make him regret, Meliodas ordered Ender to come to him.
Ender was brought out of his 'trance' by Meliodas' command and followed the order.
Shaking his head, Ender asked himself why he had the thoughts of killing that girl.

Broxhitman1998 A big chapter for today. The reason I didn't post last time was because I had to correct so much.
It was some time ago when I wrote those chapters and when I look over them I realize how much I forgot or did wrong.
