Chương 75: Archery Club, but Now I'm The Member
In the archery club. Most of its members couldn't use magic at all. Most of the were marksman with either a very weak magic or a pure talented sharpshooter.
Erin, Amy, Andrew, and Benjamin were bow users. They were using a bow as their main weapon.
Zara and I were crossbow users. We were using a crossbow as our main weapon.
The ones that could use magic were Benjamin, Andrew, Erin, and Myself. Though, in my opinion, if they were given a rifle, they would become a good sniper. They might be better than Garth, but wouldn't be better than Maria's skill.
"So, what kind of exercise we will do today? Competition or just a quick and easy target hit," Benjamin asked us.
"Competition, who spend their arrow fastest with the most accurate rate, is the winner," Zara said.
"Ok, it will be competition then," Benjamin said as he grabbed his bow from the cabinet.
I grabbed my crossbow from the floor then headed to the backyard of the building.
Benjamin and Zara brought a bunch of arrows into the back yard. There were six round targets with a red circle in the middle. Who hit the circle the most in the fastest time is the winner.
"Well, ladies first," Benjamin said as he put his bow on his back and put six arrows each on each person quiver.
"Ready.. go!!!" Benjamin shouted as the competition started.
The girls started to shoot their arrows in the direction of that red target in the middle. Zara was the slowest of them all, although she was the most accurate because the others were shooting their arrow a bit off the target.
"Ok, I'm done," Amy said as she put her bow on the floor.
"Done," Erin put her bow on the floor.
"Last one," Zara shot her last arrow to the target.
Benjamin approached the target and examined it. Just like I expected, Zara was the most accurate, albeit the slowest of them all.
"Hello," suddenly Garth barged into the room while bringing a large rectangular bag on his back.
I did a face slap, "Who told you to bring that thing?" I asked him as I grabbed the bag from his back.
"Huh? You told Maria to bring it, didn't you?" He said as he left the archery club room.
I opened that black bag, and it contained an AUG A3 HBAR. It's similar to Christine's rifle, although it's longer than hers.
"Hmm, is that the weapon of Charlie?" Zara suddenly asked me while the others were continuing with the competition.
"Charlie, who?" I got surprised since my first life name was Charlie Anderson.
"Charlie Hotel," Zara said to me.
"Charlie Hotel?" I asked her again.
"Yes, she is the hero companion that always covers her face with some sort kind of mask that covers her entire face. Only some people have seen her face," Zara said to me.
Ah, I see. It's a NATO brevity codename. Charlie Hotel is her initial. In short, it is a C and H. The one that she means is Captain Christine Hasslebrown.
"Oh, I see. Why do you know her better than the hero? Do you idolize her?" I asked Zara as I put a 40 round magazine into the rifle.
"Sorta, I just like her crossbow, like the one you are holding there," she said as she pointed her hand to my rifle.
"Crossbow?" I was surprised by her statement.
"Yup, that crossbow can spit out arrows faster than any crossbow in the world," she continued her information.
"Huh??" I narrowed my eyes even further.
"May I try that crossbow of yours?" She leaned her body towards mine.
"Well, first of all. That one person that you were talking about was here a few hours ago. Second, this thing is called a rifle and not a crossbow. Third, why do you like this thing so much?" I explained why I was confused.
"Ok, but still can I borrow it?" She asked me again without listening to me.
"Well, if you insist. Let me show you an example of how to use this thing," I said as I grabbed a magazine from the bag and put it in my pocket.
I went down the range and showed her how to use the rifle. I aimed the rifle down the range after releasing the magazine from the rifle.
"First of all, you have to put this thing called magazine into this rifle," I said as I insert the magazine into the rifle and hit it again, "Make sure it's nice and tight."
"Second of all, this is the charging handle. You have to pull it first in order to make this thing works," I said as I pulled the charging handle.
"Press this button to switch this thing to shoot," I said as I pushed the safety button.
"Finally, this thing is called the trigger. Press it halfway, and you get this," I said as I pulled the trigger halfway.
I pressed the trigger twice, and two bullets were shot from the rifle. "Press this until the back, and you get full auto," I said as I fully pressed the trigger.
My shoulder shook a lot absorbing the violent recoil of the rifle while the brass shell was raining from the rifle. Some of them were covering their ears since that rifle was pretty loud.
The rifle ran out of bullets, and I handed it down to Zara. "Lastly, hold this rifle as strong as you can since the punch of this rifle is way more violent than the crossbow," I said to her.
"Ok," she said as she put the magazine into the rifle and repeat what I did.
"Get a feel of this thing, if you can't control the recoil. Don't force yourself to pull the trigger fully," I said to her.
"Ok," she shot a bullet to the target.
"Ok, now pull the trigger until it's limit," I told her.
"Ok," she said, and she pulled the trigger and the rifle shot in full auto.
The accuracy wasn't good at all. Even it was worse than before, but still, full auto was intended for suppressing fire.
"Ok, how was it?" I asked her.
"The pleasure was indescribable," she said as she put the rifle on her back, imposing like Christine.
"Haha, I see," Benjamin's mouth went agape as I said that.
"Wow, Wilson? How much did you pay for that weapon," Benjamin complimented me.
"It's a secret," I said as I put the rifle back on the bag.
"See you guys," I said as I left the building with the rifle on my back.
