Chương 28: Two Mothers and A Plan
"Hah! Take that Sword-Master!" Hexie smirked.
Hexie killed the Sword Master character 36 times before finally destroying the enemy's tower.
Hexie stretched her arms and rotated her neck as it was sore. Looking up at the huge TV screen on the wall has strained her neck. But ut was all worth it! To finally play her fave computer game although she had long abandoned it when similar mobile games popped up.
There was a slight drum roll. And a fancy lettering and golden cup in the background was shown on the screen.
{VICTORY!!}
"Good game!" Hexie nodded and put up a thumbs up.
Everyone in the room cheered.
"Woah! Third Young Lady slain the enemy 36 times!! Amazing!"
"That was an amazing display of battle! She's a game genius!"
"Truly a genius! It's her first time playing this!"
Uncle Huiliang was almost crying.
"Congratulations team! Our game's first trial is a succes!!"
After the trial game, Hexie then presented her suggestions like earning money and gifts in the game from challenges, getting power ups from skill sets, getting skins for the characters, having diverse characters inspired from different cultures, daily tasks, weekly and monthly challenges and such.
"Alright Hexie-er. Starting tomorrow, you will be working with us. I have already got your parent's approval. Aside from Athena, you will be voicing other female characters if they fit your voice, can you do that?" Uncle Huiliang turned serious.
"I will try, Uncle. But if my voice won't fit the characters, I will recommend people who could do it."
Not long after, a dinner with the game developers ensued. Hexie texted Nanny Lin she won't be there for dinner.
The next day.
After classes, Hexie would directly go to the Wu Laboratories.
"Good afternoon Hexie-er! Before we start our work, here are the other gadgets you challenged me to make! Come on try everything now!" Uncle Huiliang was very eager.
"Oh my gosh! Is this the wireless earphones? Thank you, my genius Uncle! If Wu Laboratories sell these, many smartphone companies will have a deal with us!" Hexie was very happy. She tried every gadget in the box and all of it were working perfectly fine, especially the wireless earphones.
'Goodbye unruly and easily tangled earphones Ohohoho!'
"I'm glad you like it! Smartphone Companies eh? Brother George Wu will be delighted with your proposal! In fact I'm going to send this to him now, so run along now. You have to record your voice in the studio~ bye bye!" Uncle Huiliang pushed Hexie towards the recording studio.
Hexie worked at the Wu Lab from monday to thursday.
On fridays, she would go to Sol Cafe and play the piano. When she proposed her idea to play the grand piano to her friends, they were surprised and hesitant at first.
"Uh Hexie-er...are you sure?" Mayumi asked.
"Hexie-er...you don't have to force your hands to play the piano again!" Lihua was surprisingly sad.
"Yeah! Doesn't your hands get easily tired when playing?" Kimiko added.
"Huh? I have been playing the piano since I was little. I could still play though it has been a long time since I last touched one. There were no instruments at home. It's weird haha so I asked Dad to buy me one. Bot of my parents were surprised though."
The three older girls were worried but Dongfei sided with Hexie.
"Yah! Let Hexie play the piano! It would attract girls my age. Comfy, stylish yet high class cafès are very trendy nowadays. And besides I heard Hexie was a grand champion at a Piano Contest before!"
"I guess Hexie-chan completely forgot that accident huh?" Kimiko mumbled but gasped when she forgot that she wasn't supposed to say that.
"What accident?" Hexie questioned. Dongfei was also clueless.
"Yeah, what accident?"
Lihua and Mayumi gave Kimiko a sharp look before innocently answering.
"Oh don't mind Kimiko Hexie-er..."
"Sorry. Mayumi is right, it was nothing Hexie-chan. You know me, I'm a klutz! I must have bumped my head earlier and mixed up my memories hehe..."
Hexie studied Kimiko for a while then slowly nodded.
"Any ways. Didn't you say you could still play the piano? I wanna hear you play, Hexie-er. So can we listen to a piece?" Lihua changed the subject.
"OMG! Yes please Hexie! Please play Fleur de Elise! It's my ringtone and I have been obsessed by it!" Dongfei was so excited to finally hear Hexie play. The rest of the girls were too, but they were worried.
"Yeeey! Thanks guys! And yes mademoiselle! I shall grant your music requests!" Hexie went to the small stage where the sleek black grand piano was stationed.
The girls were in awe when she played flawlessly. Lihua, Mayumi and Kimiko were shocked to the bones. It was a miracle! Kimiko and Lihua almost cried on their seats.
Though Hexie looked like she shrugged the three girls weird reaction, she made a mental note to continue investigating this body's past. She almost forgot about it after all the money-making missions she did.
She only know the basic facts provided from the novel and drama about Hexie Wu but she really didn't have a clue about this body's past. Sometimes when she touch certain objects, it would trigger the original Hexie Wu's flashbacks like fragments of her childhood. Some of it were just mundane rich brat memories, but the unforgettable one was when she touched the white Grand Piano at the Choi Villa.
"Hexie-er. Breaktime!" Mayumi called her out from her deep thought. Kimiko then gave her a freshly made Wintermelon Milktea. This was their topselling product in the cafè aside from their Iced Coffees.
During her break, Hexie would make remixes for her DJ gig at Club Luna later that evening. This was her routine.
And due to that, Nanny Lin was worried for the young married couple. The Third Young Lady was never home for dinner, and would go to school earlier than Young Master Kazuki in the morning. They haven't interacted for a month now.
Nanny Lin reported this to both of their mothers who happened to visit the house while the two couple were at school.
"Ommo! Lili-chan! Nanny Lin! What do we do?! I think they're avoiding each other! Huhuhu!" Kotone was the saddest among the two mothers.
"I knew it! I shouldn't have approved Huiliang's request to let Hexie-er work at the Wu Laboratories. I'm sorry Koko-chan. My daughter is very busy at our family business these days. Don't worry. I have a plan." Lifen massaged her temples. Lifen felt like her youngest brother Huiliang pranked her again.
Kotone nodded enthusiastically at Lifen's plan.
"Yes! Then I should invite them to the Choi Villa this long weekend as you arrange your plans! Fufufu~" Kotone giggled.
"Thank you Nanny Lin for your hard work. Please keep on reporting on what those two are up to."
"Always my pleasure Madame Wu!" Nanny Lin bowed to both of them.
The two women then went on their respective limousines and drove away from Kazuki and Hexie's home.
That night, the Choi Villa was in uproar. The maids and butlers were all busy cleaning the already neat and tidy castle-like home.
