Chương 31: Taking the Knock Up Stream

In the forest-covered spring island, Jaya, a place far away from the reaches of the Marines, where pirates and criminals thrived…

Robin and I had arrived on this island and had stayed a few days already.

During this time, I was reinforcing the ship and adding wings and tail to the ship carefully. I wanted to give our ship the slightest edge I could to help its chances of surviving the dangerous trip ahead. The Knock Up Stream path to the White-White Sea wasn't called the 'all or nothing' method for no reason after all

I wanted to recruit Nami for this trip's navigation, but it hadn't even been a week since her training with Tsuru began. Though our chances of failure without her were going to be higher, heavily reinforcing the ship should tip the balance back in our favor.

Tunk-Tunk- I was reinforcing the ship further, when I saw Robin approach our ship. She seemed to have bought new clothes, as she was now wearing a yellow sleeveless shirt and purple pants with her trademarked white cowboy hat.

"Fufufufu… Now this ship really does look like something that's going to fly."

"Yes, doesn't she. Also, great outfit by the way! Suits you well."

Robin struck a quick pose and said, "I know, right. I was lucky to find these." She walked over to me and saw a piece of drawing I'd made. Her eyes inspected it for a long time, and a tinge of red developed on her face.

"What's this…?"

"Oh, I drew this to explain the next parts of our journey to you."

I pointed at parts of the drawing and began my explanation. It was a drawing of the knock-up stream in the sea and our ship travelling up it. I had drawn smiling whales at the side and our own chibi figures for added effects to make the drawing interesting.

"So, in a few hours, I'm going to navigate towards this knock-up stream, which is like a powerful pressurized water stream that shoots upwards to the sky from the bottom. I can explain you the physics later, but all you need to know is that it'll lead us all the way to the sea in the sky."

Usually, one would also need a South Bird to navigate to the knock-up stream. In my case though, I could hear the gas pressure build up instead easily.

This was also the third time I'd waited for the knock-up stream to occur around this island. The earlier ones weren't aligned with the White-White Sea or seemed too weak in comparison. All the immense calculations and predictions were already done with my Observation Haki with only the factor of luck remaining to be seen now.

I explained some more stuff to Robin; and then, I pulled the paper away from her and was about to toss it away, when…

Robin held on to my hand tightly and gazed at me with a poker-face.

"Don't throw it away… I need it for reference."

"What reference? I'm going to be the one guiding us anyway." I asked, cocking my head in confusion. Robin who never showed much emotions looked a little flustered to me for some reason.

"I… I just think it's cute. I mean I want it for my archaeological records, yeah that's right! I need it for my records!"

"Hahaha, you can have it then!"

Suddenly, I lifted my chin up in pride at my drawings. Nami and Tashigi would often call my drawings child-like and simple, but it seemed like Robin thought they were cute or something.

Robin saw my expression and glanced away with a slight blush. She immediately changed the topic and said, "Uhm, Uhm… I heard there's someone called Mont Blanc Cricket who could help us; however, he seems to be gone right now for a long diving expedition."

"Yeah, I wanted to really meet him too."

I closed my eyes and thought about our stay in Jaya so far. It hadn't been nearly as eventful like the Straw-Hats adventure. For example, even the Bellamy pirates weren't here in this island. They had left this island a week earlier for some reason.

Soon we set sail towards the knock-up stream to find the Poneglyph in the Sky Island. I wanted Robin to see the information in it first-hand, since telling her just wouldn't be the same.

In time, we could see the huge waves and a whirlpool starting to form slowly. There were heavy winds along with it, signaling that the time for the knock-up stream wasn't too far away.

Robin looked at the log pose in her hands and said, "Wow, it's pointing straight up. The winds are perfect, and they seem to be directing the emperornimbus clouds right above the whirlpool's eye."

"Hahaha, looks like my calculations weren't too bad!"

Wooosh-

In time, the winds started picking up further and the large whirlpool became larger. The ship was going in circles as the most exciting part was minutes away.

Robin gazed at the whirlpool with narrowed eyes.

"Interesting, this is the biggest whirlpool I've ever seen."

I nodded and and enjoyed the atmosphere and the stunning sights together with Robin; but soon after, something terrible suddenly caught my ears. I sweated nervously and used my full concentration to think of a solution.

Some distance away from the giant whirlpool, Aokiji was traveling in a bicycle over the sea. He left a trail of solid ice wherever his bike passed.

Currently, he had stopped his bicycle that was on its way to the criminal-infested Jaya island. There were huge waves, and a giant whirlpool some miles away, blocking his path.

"Arara… how troublesome."

Instead of getting around the knock-up stream like a normal person, Aokiji decided he'd just freeze the entire thing instead. He put his hands above the seawater and…. ICE AGE…!

Chunk- The water ahead of him, all the way to the distant whirlpool, kept turning into ice rapidly.

Back in our ship which was circling around the whirlpool, I breathed deeply and locked into my next course of action. I didn't know what exactly would happen with Aokiji freezing the entire knock-up stream, but I didn't want to find out.

I had a slight idea on why Aokiji was here; and all in all, I wasn't willing to allow him to meet Robin or find out about my connections with her. There was only one solution to this problem: remove his ice and stop him discreetly and quickly.

"Robin, don't panic. Just focus your hands on sailing the ship," I exclaimed as heavy lightning started writhing from my body.

Robin nodded and thought that maybe I had to deal with a Sea-King or something; however, her eyes suddenly blinked rapidly at my new transformation.

She could see the figure of a gigantic thunder god made of pure electricity float in the air. The size of its body wouldn't lose to many giants while its shredded muscles were revealed as its shirt had been completely ripped off. Robin gulped hard and decided that it's probably better for her to focus on the ship's rudder instead.

Max 200 Million Volt Thunder God Transformation…!

Up in the air, I glanced in the direction of the Ice nearing the whirlpool. I put my hands above the sea water and decided to boil Aokiji's ice to oblivion, before the man gets any time to react at all.
