Chương 85: Demon Lord
*BANG!*
A large shock struck the ship early in the morning, causing it to shake as if there's an earthquake.
"W-What??"
Haruto was astonished and immediately awakened from his sleep. He raised up his body and entered alert state.
"Haruto-kun!"
*Bang*
His room door was opened, showing Kaori entering the room with agitated expression.
"What's wrong? What happened?" He asked.
"Some monsters are attacking the ship, we should go to the deck now." She said in serious manner.
"...."
Haruto widened his eyes and concentrated his senses. There he found a lot of monsters' energy all over the ship, currently some people were fighting them including his other companions.
Without hesitating, he quickly put on his gi and went out of his room, dashing towards the front deck where his friends were. On the way, the ship crews were bustling while being flustered, what seems like the captain was commanding the units to move on various places.
Haruto did not mind those and went straight to the deck with Kaori side by side. Finally arriving, he could see the chaos happening around him.
Various sea monsters had surrounded the entire ship, leaving no room to escape. Their number was numerous and at the very least it was not less than a thousand.
"Shaa!!"
From Haruto's side, a blade slashed against him trying to severe his head from his neck.
"Hmph."
Snorting, he responded by swinging his leg, faster than the slash to rip apart the attacker's body instantly like a tofu.
From the shattered corpse, Haruto identified the attacker to be a Sahuagin, a Low rank monster.
Just a second later more monsters appeared in front of him consist of fifteen Lizardmen and Sahuagins.
The deck was quite large so it could load a hundred people easily but that didn't make the situation for other people better as the monsters kept appearing from the sea the moment one of them were defeated.
From his position, Haruto could see Fia and Rikka engaged in battle while desperately protecting the other people struggling against the onslaught of monsters.
He didn't see Selianna but she must be somewhere in here too. As for Asami, she's on the back firing ice bullets and arrows with her staff.
Kaori drew her swords and charged forward, killing monsters on her way as she approached the people who were injured.
The majority of the people in here were all adventurers, some of them were the ship crew fighting with guns and sabres. Those who cannot fight remained inside the ship for safety.
Haruto sighed thinking it was because of the people in here that his group could not fight seriously, they were afraid to accidentally harm someone.
Leaping to the air, Haruto waved his hand, unleashing a ray of energy to sweep the monsters hiding on the sea. His attack could shredded every monsters on the way effortlessly, killing hundreds of monsters in an instant.
The other people gasped seeing the power of the young man hovering in midair. Although a lot of the monsters only ranging from Low to Middle rank, but there's some High rank monsters hiding among them too and he actually eliminated those so easily.
But they also cheered in joy when they know a strong person was among them.
Haruto's control of his ki attacks were perfect, countless energy beams rained down like shooting stars, killing all the monsters without harming any people. For the current him, killing lower and intermediate High rank monsters was child's play, he could do it in his sleep.
Even so, what easy for him didn't mean it was easy for other people, a lot of them was suffering under that kind of monsters, they were only saved when Kaori unleashed her strongest area healing magic, Holy Scripture.
Her magic instantly recovered all the injured people, even regenerating their lost limbs. All of them were shocked and looked at Kaori as if they were seeing a ghost.
One of the person there wearing dark blue robe narrowed their eyes seeing Haruto's group. This person was deeply attracted to them because they were all clearly unusual.
As of now, almost all the monsters were wiped out singlehandedly by Haruto. But as this moment where the battle almost came to an end, the sea in front of them began to make a giant swirl.
The water burst out, revealing a large serpent more than 30 meters tall. Its body was pale blue covered by scales, there's a large vicious red horn on its forehead. There's subtle powerful demonic energy - incomparable to other monsters - in the form of indigo aura around its body, giving a horrifying pressure as if a giant mountain is standing right in front of them.
"I-It's a sea serpent!! A Demon Lord!!!"
"One of Leviathan's children!?"
"We're doomed!"
The people's face turned pale from fright when they saw the giant monster. They were all shivering like mad, fully terrified.
Even Haruto's expression turned grim when he saw this monster, it was an actual Lord rank monster, perhaps on the intermediate level. Not even his time in the capital allowed him to see a monster on this rank appearing that often. It's because just a single one of them could easily bring a disaster as a single attack from them will be able to instantly annihilate a city. For this they're called the Demon Lords.
"ROAAARRRR!!!!"
The sea serpent roared loudly, producing a massive shockwave on the ship. The wave created ripples on the air, dealing quite a large damage on the ship.
Most people were blown off, unable to withstand the pressure, thankfully no one died even though they were gravely injured just by the roar. The stronger people managed to hold on somehow but their face were all pale.
The roar ended, leaving behind a catastrophe on the large ship. And yet, the sea serpent still had not end its attack, it was gathering energy on its mouth before releasing a large beam capable of destroying even a hundred of the same ship without trace at the same time.
The people were despairing thinking they're going to die, even Haruto's companions's face turned dark seeing this but at this moment-
"[Heaven Interruption]"
Five layers shields of light formed in front of the beam, stopping it from reaching the ship.
The horrible energy beam collided against Kaori's light magic barrier, producing tremendous buzzing sound. The surrounding void was trembling as a large windstorm blew violently. Sparks burst out in the form of energy bolts from the clash. People were all cowering in front of this horrifying scene.
Kaori gritted her teeth, enduring the powerful attack desperately. Three of the shields destroyed almost in an instant after the collision and now after a few seconds, the beam had pierced through the fourth, making its way on the final shield of light.
"AAAA----!!"
*BOOOMM*
Before the final shield was pierce through, Kaori activated Limit Break to strengthen her magic, finally able to defend against the monster's attack. The sea serpent fumbled from having its attack blocked by Kaori, its red eyes glowed sinisterly showing how furious it was.
How could it accept a puny human managed to defend against its mighty attack?
Kaori was panting from exerting a large amount of power, she only needed a minute to recover her breathe. Although she consumed a lot of mana but just that wouldn't make her exhausted, especially when she used Limit Break.
Still her face have not relaxed just yet, she still eyeing the enemy in a serious manner. At this time someone moved to her side.
"Looks like it was stronger than we expected huh." Haruto said.
"Un, it's my first time seeing a Demon Lord, no wonder they were called living disaster." Kaori nodded.
"I agree. But just this one of us should still be able to defeat it. Thankfully it was not a peak Lord rank or it'll be bad."
Even a step higher could make the monster several times stronger. Although Haruto could defeat an intermediate Lord rank like his current opponent without much problem, he was still no match against a peak Lord rank.
"GROAAA---!!"
The sea serpent announced its anger with a violent cry. The demonic energy on its body fluctuate strongly and from it's large red horn, sparks of lightning began to appear as the surrounding sky turned dark. Wind began flowing violently in the form of gale with constant thunderclaps struck from the sky. Its power could even manipulate the weather, producing a terrible storm no different than a natural disaster. Without doubt, it was trying to unleash a far more powerful attack, Haruto cursed on his mind when he saw this.
"Damn it this bastard is going mad! Kaori, let's hurry and-"
"So annoying..."
Just when Haruto was going to act, someone else leaped from the deck, aiming on the giant monster. It was a person covered by a dark blue robe with a hood. From the figure it could be seen this person is a woman.
Haruto and Kaori were taken aback, not expecting someone to suddenly rush against the mighty Demon Lord so their mind blanked for a second, allowing the person to reach the monster just like that.
"Hey wait, what are you doing!?" Haruto gasped and panicked seeing her approaching the enemy. At this time he did not aware this random person was actually using flight on her approach.
"Grr!?"
The Demon Lord sea serpent glared at the tiny person daring to come on its face. Did she truly believe it wouldn't kill her right now? Is this person stupid?
The sea around it surged, forming several colossal spears made from water, the pressure and power of this water spear was enough to drill through the hardest diamond like a screwdriver piercing a piece of paper.
They all moved to thrust on the target fiercely from all directions, an ordinary person would already shredded into powder just being near one of them and yet she remained unfazed.
Clicking his tongue, Haruto dashed forward in order to save the hooded girl but he stopped when he saw her nimbly evading the spears one by one.
Without much effort, she closed the distance between her and the monster. Placing her body right above its head.
Drawing a slender blue rapier, she poked the serpent's forehead casually. At this moment something outrageous happened.
The Demon Lord was frozen solid in a flower shape. Even the sea below froze hundreds of meters away as the temperature on the surroundings dropped to negative almost in an instant.
The ice sculpture collapsed into rubble and the monster died just like that, leaving behind a hill of ice cubes.
All the people there including Haruto were shocked and opened their eyes widely. The Demon Lord was killed in a flash as if it was a weak kitten.
If it's just the matter of defeating it then even Haruto and Kaori could do it but doing that as easily as the hooded girl? No way, they're not at that level just yet.
Haruto eyed the girl with amazement and curiosity, from the inside of the hood he could glimpsed on a beautiful silver haired woman resembling a fairy in her early twenties looking at him too with her deep blue eyes. Her expression was very aloof and cold, even more than Rikka.
Just when he wanted to open his mouth this girl made a faint smile, startling him. After that she turned her body and flew with incredible speed, disappearing to the distance.
"I wonder who is she...." Kaori approached him using her wings.
"....I don't know, but I feel like we'll meet her again soon."
He said as he saw the direction the girl with silver hair went to. Who knows if it was a coincidence or what but that was the same direction he's planning to go to ever since he left the capital.
