Chương 25: The Test
Only an hour later, we were already on the training grounds and Hermione was facing Roland. The rules are that if you hit the wall or fall unconscious, you lose.
Hermione- i- i'm ready!.
Roland- Ready.
Lucy- good, then three, two, one, Fight!
After that the guy called Roland begun to chant, but Hermione wasn't going to wait to see what was going to happen
Hermione- Expulso!
Roland's eyes went wide just before the spell sent him to the wall at the end of the training grounds.
Hermione- ... so, i win?
Lucy-... eh, ye- yes, you win.
Guild master- hmm, it seems the one you fought with wasn't on your level...
Hermione- hehe, it seems so... Rainy, i have won! i can't believe it! by the way, will Roland be fine?
Guild master- besides his pride, i don't think he has anything broken so he should be fine, it seems Rainy knew what she was saying when she told you to take a B-rank wizard...
Rainy- of course i know the strength of my friend!! and let me advice you, that i also know mine.
Guild master- let's go then. But we wont have the same rules, the only way to lose on our battle will be if one of us is unable to continue. Ok?
Rainy- i couldn't ask for anything else.
Then we went to the center of the training grounds, facing each other. He took a silver sword he used with both hands, but seems light enough to use with one. And i took my wand with my left hand.
Guild master- another wand? I can be pretty fast you know?
Rainy- you don't need to worry about that.
Then i conjured Joyeuse on my right hand. He looked surprised, but soon a grin on his face appeared. By the way, the guild master looks like a normal person, with brown hair, a normal constitution, and a long sleeved jacket. But it gives the aura that he can kill me on the moment the fight begins.
Lucy-... i-... well, let's begin... three, two, one, Figh-
As she was saying fight, we both went forward, me thinking Command! Magic! Double! Bravery! Haste! Because versus a very strong sword user, a protect is not going to stop him from cutting. He looks surprised at my speed but soon he swings the sword horizontally, so i transfigure my rapier to a sword that i grab with both hands and we clash, while on that, i kick him on the chest, but he dodges jumping backwards, and i use it to cast a expulso to him. He then twists while on the air and dodges the expulso, but i'm already jumping behind the spell to thrust him with the rapier again, he then creates a barrier with his hand and stops my rapier, after that he counterattacks while on the air with his sword and i parry it with my left palm, making the sword pass above me. Then i impulse myself with my feet on his chest to jump backwards. And we both fall where we were when the fight begun.
Rainy- huff, huff, i need more resistance, for this type of battle.
Guild master- you have really surpassed all my expectations Rainy, i'll let you see the extent of a magical swordsman!
Then he jumped forward, but now he had the magic all around his body and his sword. He attacked with a vertical cut, and i dodged to the right. What surprised me was that he did a crater on the ground were i was, so i quickly jumped backwards and begun to use expulso, but he kept dodging and in a second he was above me swinging the sword again. So i changed the rapier to a shield and defended myself from the horizontal swing. It couldn't break my shield but i was thrown to all the way to the wall. And it broke my right arm and some ribs.
Hermione-!! Rainy!!
Rainy- (what is this monstrous strength?, i'll have to end this battle now.)
He looked like he thought the battle was over, but i got up from the ground and smiling i begun to run with the wand pointing at him, and when he saw that i had something up my sleeve, he didn't hesitate. He jumped forward but diagonally so that i couldn't point well at him and tried to swing at me with his sword. But i grinned more at that movement because he didn't want to kill me and wasn't using that magic reinforcement anymore, so i thought Command! Magic! Protect! I turned the shield into a gauntlet around my broken arm, and i took the swing with my broken arm. After being this close to him, i used the wand on my left hand at point-blank distance.
Rainy- Stupefy!
He was thrown backward 5 meters before falling to the ground, unconscious.
Rainy- huff, huff, *cough* ok, that was awesome! (Command! Magic! Cura!)
Hermione- Rainy!! what were you thinking!!? that was absurdly dangerous!
Rainy- well, i had to show off my power... i couldn't just simply cast Sleep! And win...
Hermione- that would have been far better than this! Do you have something broken!?
Rainy- i casted cura so not anymore, maybe my arm is still broken, let's see. Agghh!, ok it is, but that should heal with the next cura.
Hermione-... this is going to be a long week.
Everyone else was looking at the exchange but anyone was paying attention, they were petrified after the battle
Lucy-.....
Rainy- hey lucy, should i wake up the guild master?
Lucy-.....
Rainy- ... i'll just wake him up. Rennervate!
The guild master then woke up, got up, and looked arround before sighing.
Guild master- i can't believe that you got me there.
Rainy- just because you didn't want to kill me! You stopped using your magic reinforcement!
Guild master- haha, well, even i can be bluffing sometimes you know? I would never try to kill a little girl...
Rainy- (says the one that broke my arm and ribs with one swing...)
Guild master- you just thought something rude right?
Rainy- nah, i would never... but let's change the subject, what about my rank for that?
Guild master- we'll put you on C-rank. We can't let you more than that even if you are this strong because you need also knowledge as an adventurer. And we'll give your friend a D-rank, because you can't party with someone 2 ranks above or below your own, at least officially. Let's go to my office.
[10 minutes later]
We were on the guild master office, with Hermione and me sitting on a couch, and Lucy and the guild master on another couch in front of us. Hermione really looks kind of nervous. I can't understand when she will be nervous and when she won't, but whatever.
Guild master- ok, here you have your guild cards. They have your rank and your class, it's needed to ask for missions on the counter. Also, i'll say to you that you need to do a mission at least once a year.
The rules as adventurers is that first, you need to take a mission before you go to complete it, you can't complete something and later try to take the mission that you have already completed. This is to make sure that anyone takes a mission that has been completed by another adventurer. Second, you can't pick a fight with fellow adventurers without a reason. But if they attack you, it's ok to retaliate with the same grade of violence. Just make sure that you know that if you do retaliate, it won't be their aggression anymore and it will be a fair fight between adventurers. Which means that the guards won't do anything to stop you. And third, not really a rule, but if you can capture someone, do it. We can kill bandits or necromancers or whatever we have to subjugate. But if you can, don't kill them, we appreciate that on the guild.
Rainy- understood, it seems we won't be killing bandits. Aren't you happy Hermione?
Hermione- yes! But you have to teach me stupefy if i want to be of help with that.
Rainy- no problem. Can we go now?
Guild master- yes, i welcome you to the Adventurers guild.
Rainy- thanks, by the way, we don't have any money. Can you lend us some?
Guild master-.....
[some time later, going to the inn]
Hermione- i can't believe that you made the guild master lend you money!
Rainy- what, you would have preferred sleeping on the streets? With thieves and the likes?
Hermione- i'm not saying that! But there's still some day left... we could have done an easy mission to get the money!
Rainy- we can't, i'm going to use the rest of the day to teach you stupefy. You seem to learn fast so i'm sure you can.
Hermione- hmm, anyway, we have to give back the money tomorrow, with our first mission ok?
Rainy- ok, ok, it's not that big of a deal. That guy must be as wealthy as Harry. He's the guild master after all. Anyway, here we are, the inn we'll stay.
We entered the inn and after paying for a room with two beds, we went to the room directly. I begun to teach Hermione, and by the end of the day, we both went to sleep.
