Chương 1: Parental Guidance
Life is cruel, cruel to the weak. From the day I was born, I was nothing more than a punching bag for my brothers. "The weak support the strong" and "the strong protect the weak", both don't apply to me. Rather: the strong exploit the weak. From the day I could walk My parents already made me fight my brothers, being beaten every time. My swordsmanship was skilful , my body was strong; but it was not enough.
The whip had left a mental scar, while the physical scars simply vanished. What is 'love' and 'happiness'? All I know is pain and suffering. The terms happiness and love are nothing more than abstract concepts to me.
That is why I felt no pain when the glass fell and their necks bled, it was all grey. They laid on the floor, their eyes stared to the ceiling. But I felt no happiness, I felt nothing. The cut on my hand from the glass shards were painless. No tears fell from my eyes that night, For I had no affiliation with them, I was nameless.

3 years have passed since that night, I am now 16 years old. I am now working as a bounty hunter in the Royal Capital. I adopted the name Ren after I left my dwelling. At the present moment, I am a specialist ranked bounty hunter with 47 kills to my name. I use the alias 'Red' for this line of work. Red for the amount spilt after every kill.
To this day I still have not found happiness or love.
"Red! Take a look at this job, it's got your name written all over it!"
A buff white haired man in chainmail walked up to me. He is my only 'friend', meaning he is the only person that actively talks to me. He goes by the alias of 'White Chains', I call him 'Chains'.
"The target is a noble that is suspected of trafficking Demi-humans, sounds like scum to me." Chains remarked.
"What is the reward?" I asked.
"Ooo, this one's a good. The reward is 50 gold pieces per party member."
"I will take the bounty." I spoke.
"Alright! Meet me at the baron's mansion, by the way the baron is the target!"
As fast as he appeared, he had already left.
For a high profile bounty such as this, I will definitely need a more suitable set of armor. Therefore, it is time for me to visit the armor smith. After 20 or so minutes of walking I had already arrived at the shop. I opened the door and plainly greeted the armor smith.
"Good morning Red, what do you need?"
"I need that special order that I made 6 months ago, is it ready?"
"Heh, you are in luck! I just completed it this morning."
The smith pulled out a set of beautifully made armor. The armor I requested is of elite grade, adorned with horns and my own trademark helmet visor. The actual armor could probably block a point blank attack from a level 6 spell.
"Try it on! You won't regret it Red."
I put on my new set of armor, and it satisfied my expectations. It was light yet durable, and had an intimidating aura. This is everything I need.
"Also, I added a bit extra. The visor is made of magisteel, so putting your mana into it will make your sight as clear as an eagle's."
"Will that cost more?"
"No, free of charge."
I left the shop after completing the transaction, now I am ready to complete the bounty. I headed over to the baron's mansion, which took about 1 hour by flying. The palace looked extremely fancy indicating an abundance of wealth. No ordinary baron could afford these decorations.
"Hey there, Red, lets go investigate the basement and then take out the baron." Chains whispered.
"Lead the way."
We crawled through what seemed to be a vent leading down to the basement levels. Upon entering, we saw nothing, it was pitch black. I could definitely hear the faint cries of women and children. But I could also hear the voices of men, and laughter.
Chains and I proceeded to the direction of the noise, after a minute or so, we found a door. I open the door gently to find 3 men beating children to the ground. The women were trying to push the men away from the children, but were hit as well.
"What are you thinking Red?" Chains whispered.
"Termination."
The women and children thanked us after we finished the deed. But the baron is still not dead, therefore the bounty is not complete.
"Please save my sister!" A elf girl cried.
"The baron took her this morning, please save her!"
"Red, I think we should help her out, this situation is kinda fucked up." Chains said.
"Her sister is dead, keep your mind on the mission." I coldly spoke.
"She is not! My sister is strong!" The elf girl shouted.
"Red, come on, be a bit kind." Chains sighed.
"Fine, we will look for the sister."
