Chương 48: End of Volume 3

(3rd-person POV)

Night. The sky is clouded and the only light coming from it is the full moon. It looks like it is foreboding something.

In a normal suburb located in the Upper west side of Manhattan. A normal house radiated a rather peaceful vibe. The inside of the house, however, is rather chaotic.

In the living room, two people focused intently on the TV screen as if their lives depended on it. Zombies filled the monitor and the two players fought their way out of the horde.

"I'm out of ammo. I need replenishment!" Thor shouted as he controlled his character in the game.

"Do you have a health tablet? My hp bar is low..." Meanwhile, Lynn picked up some useless junk thinking it could heal her.

They were playing Resident Evil 6. Yes, that's right. The game was supposed to be released only in October this year. But because of a certain someone, the game is being played by the two of them now. They're even using the split screen option.

"Arghh!! Get it off me! Get it off me!!" On the screen, Thor's character is being pummeled by a Napad. He's furiously tapping the controller as he shouted.

"On it! Wait a sec!" Lynn came into rescue at the last minute and they managed to shake it off. Looking at Thor's health, Lynn breathed a sigh of relief. "Phew, that was a close one."

"You have my gratitude, daughter of Walsh." Thor said without looking away from the screen. "Now give me some ammo."

In the same room, a little girl stood beside a hammer. She grabbed the handle using her tiny little hands and tried to lift it with all her might. Believe it or not, this little girl can lift up to the maximum weight of ten tons. But try as she might, she still cannot lift the hammer. Her forehead was covered in sweat as she tried to catch her breath.

"What is this? Why can't I lift it?" Karla grumbled at Thor behind her.

"Only the worthy can lift the hammer of Thor, little one. Even the green monster cannot lift the Mjølnir." Thor glanced at her and proudly said.

"Hmph! I'm stronger than that Hulk. I'm gonna try once again!" Karla positioned herself once more and placed her hands on the handle. An aura of thin red light covered her body as her hands were enveloped in red photon light.

"Feel free to do so." Thor grinned and focused back on his game.

While the three were having fun in the living room, Morgana stood beside a stove in the kitchen. She wore a cute pink apron with strawberries as the design. Her silky black hair was bundled in a ponytail as it swayed left and right whenever she moves. Morgana took a look in the recipe book before turning to the pot.

"A little amount of salt... How little is that amount? A pinch? A tablespoon?" She mumbled by herself as she grabbed the salt container. After some thinking, she finally sprinkled a pinch and decided to taste it before adding another if necessary.

She glanced at the book once more and frowned.

"If I remember correctly, My lord doesn't want carrots. I should not put any carrots in here." She placed the carrots back in the fridge. "No broccoli too." And the broccoli.

Morgana hummed as she cooked while thinking she will be praised later. Just the thought of Finn eating her food brought a smile to her face. She feels like a wife cooking for her husband every time she's in the kitchen.

Shuffling back and forth in the kitchen caused her plump chests to jiggle. The apron only made it more seductive by restraining it into various shapes. However, it is unfortunate that her lord wasn't here to witness her charm, Morgana thought.

A little while later, she was finally finished. She organized the plates in the table using telekinesis and called out to the people in the living room.

"You two, stop that game. Karla, call My lord over here for dinner." She ordered like a mother and proceeded to turn off the stove.

"Morgana, I thought I told you to stop calling me 'My lord'. Just call me Finn or something." Finn appeared out of nowhere and said.

"Huh? B-but..."

"Just do it, okay? Besides, it feels much closer that way and is also quite pleasing to hear." Finn sat in the chair beside Thor. "Morgana?"

"...closer... closer... we're closer..." Morgana repeatedly muttered in a small voice with a beet red cheeks. She was lost in her own world with a rare stupid smile on her face.

"This girl..." Finn shook his head and sighed. "Anyways, let's eat. Great cooking as usual."

Finn, Thor, Karla, Lynn, and Morgana sat around the table as they quietly ate dinner. The one who broke the silence was Thor.

"How is the Tesseract doing?" He turned to Finn as he asked the question.

"It's alright. Just a little bit more and we can finally go to Asgard." Finn answered with a straight face. In truth, he's already figured out how to go to Asgard. He's only delaying it because he's still not done preparing contingency plans in case something 'undesirable' happens.

"That's good to know." Thor continued eating.

Lynn, by the side, suddenly raised her head and faced Finn. "By the way, aren't we going to give some food to Loki upstairs?"

"Loki? Nah, I'm sure he's okay. Right, Thor?"

"Hm? Oh, yes. Of course. The magical energy in his body will make sure he doesn't die of starvation. He won't starve." Thor consoled Lynn with a smile.

Lynn frowned and looked at Morgana and Karla. Seeing they both don't care in the least, she sighed. "You guys are cruel. Can we at least save some food? I will give it to him later."

"Well, that's fine." Finn didn't stop her because he knows this will happen anyway. Lynn is too much of a soft-hearted girl. But that only added to her good points.

"He must be starving..." Lynn said and finished her meal.

-----

"I'm not starving." In the attic, Loki faced Lynn as he said. He looked around the attic. His eyes shone as it landed on something and he grinned stealthily.

"Huh? But you didn't eat for the past two days. Is the magical energy in your body really won't make you starved?"

Stopping for a moment, Loki was stunned at her question. He didn't know what idiot told her that but he's starving like hell. He's only acting because he's waiting for this moment to come. Nevertheless, he maintained a straight face as he nodded.

"Alright." Lynn still placed the meal down inside the barrier.

Just when Lynn is about to turn around, Loki spoke again. "I could use a book though."

"A book?"

"Yes, that one." Loki pointed to a book lying around the corner. "I'm really intrigued by your world's literature."

Lynn approached the book. It is a thick book with a black cover. The name engraved in the cover was, darkhold. If Finn was here, he never would've let Lynn touch this book.

"This one?" When Lynn picked up the book, her vision suddenly went black.

She saw two red menacing eyes staring straight at her.

[Not bad. Weak souls are tasty.] She heard a shrill voice beside her ears. It was coming from the book. [Now that that pesky woman is gone, I can finally act however I want.]

"Aarrhhhhhh!!!" Lynn grabbed her head as she writhed in pain. The elements of death around her tried to block and fight the foreign energy that is forcefully trying to invade her body. The foreign energy is like a wave while the elements around her are akin to sandbags.

[How stubborn.] The shrill voice said. [In that case, if I can't take over your body, I should--]

"Oh no, you don't." Morgana suddenly appeared and casted multiple magic spells on the book. She used a massive amount of her energy just to separate the link between Lynn and the book. After that, she even directly attacked the book itself with the energy she has left. It helped fight off the already distracted consciousness inside it. As a result, it was caught by surprise so it reacted a little slower.

[What are you-?!!]

"Go sleep again inside the book, Chthon."

[Morganaaaaaa!]

That was the last word the shrill voice uttered before being sealed again. Morgana stored the book using Storage magic and approached Lynn. She examined her.

Lynn was unconscious. Her face is pale and her life force is slowly being consumed. The elements around her were triggered, causing them to become aggressive. Earlier, her curse helped fought off Chthon's attempt to possess her body. It was unexpected.

However, it could also be said to be a double-edged sword.

Now that threat is gone, the death elements no longer have any target. In short, the curse on her body started acting up again.

Finn teleported as soon as he heard Lynn's shout but he was still a little too late. Karla and Thor followed after.

"Tell me what happened to her, Morgana." Finn asked. He crouched down beside Lynn and arrived at the same conclusion that Morgana came to. She was slowly dying.

"She awoke the entity that I sealed inside. I surmised that it was because of the elements around her that stimulated it." Morgana then turned to Loki. "However, it is weird that she touched the book when she's only supposed to bring a meal."

Noticing the gaze of everyone around him, Loki mischievously grinned.
