Chương 12: Reward?

[Quest Completed.]

[Name: Sweet Revenge!]

[Goal: Get revenge on local thugs.]

[Reward: Greed System.]

[Greed System Activated.]

[Skill Plunder generated. Plunder lv.MAX]

[Skill Let's Gamble! Generated. Let's Gamble! lv.MAX]

'???'

[Plunder]

[Desc: Skill allows to plunder skills, traits, and talents from creatures killed by you.]

[Let's Gamble! ]

[Desc: Skill initiates duel between you and your opponent.]

'I need to rest. Let's fake some injuries to make the story more reliable.'

Pounding tree with his head was more than enough to cause a bump to appear on top of his head.

'I cannot go to Roger! He will ask unnecessary questions. Let's sleep in my hut for this night.'

All things went according to his predictions, Rose didn't stay silent. Blacksmith came to his hut with a couple of his friends.

Knock! Knock!

"GET OUT! RETARD!" One of villagers shouted with anger to please Blacksmith Ian.

"What do you want? My fuckin head…" He opened the doors and faked pained expression. Bump on his head was an ideal excuse.

"Did you see Joe and his friends? We know you were with them yesterday!" Pitiful trial of intimidation, boy needed to hold himself to not laugh.

"I was fuckin attacked by them. They hit me so hard, I passed out. My head still hurts like hell. When you find them, tell them to eat shit!" Basic performance, none would believe that kid had beaten five people alone. They left with disappointed expressions on their faces.

The boy closed doors and entered the farming space. It was time to test a new system, you could say he was recycling skills from corpses.

'Eco-friendly skills! Incoming!'

The first step was to appraise bodies to get information about their status.

[Name: Joe]

'I will get stronger with every enemy killed.'

[Target Joe, plundered: Smelting]

[Target Tom, plundered: Bow(Low Mortal), Cooking]

[Target Harry, plundered: Archery, Tracking, Sneaking, Dismantling, Bow(Beginner)]

'I don't feel any different.'

[Plunder doesn't automatically infuse things into the host's body. The host needs to add them personally.]

'I don't know if it's good or bad.'

Plunder's database had all things plundered from corpses and something arose his interest.

'Prices? Why skills don't have any price?'

[It's easy. Genetic modifications are done with the world's energy. Skills don't require modifications as host gets only initial knowledge from them.]

The boy chose to add talent in archery, eagle eyes and all skills.

[Bow(Low Mortal) – Price 200 WE]

[Eagle's Eyes – Price 300 WE]

"Arrrghhh!" His vision became blurry and his eyes started to bleed. The pain was bearable, still, he didn't predict such a thing.

'I understand…If every trait or skill was added in the middle of battle…It would be a great distraction or even weakness.' If you got distracted for 2 seconds, it would be a great opportunity for your enemy to finish you off. Process of integration eagle's eyes was long and talent was equally painful. It caused a strong headache and nose bleed.

'Using workshop space to train…They should give me training space or something…'

[Complaining skill generated. BLAH BLAH lv.1000(1_1)]

'…'

He went through their belongings and stored all useful things into storage.

'Can I convert corpses into the world's energy?'

[It's possible. All matter can be converted into WE. It's impossible to convert living conscious beings.]

[Host will get more energy for personally killed creatures. Otherwise, host will get only part of the world's energy as energy belongs to marked killer.]

'Marked killer?'

[It's killer's right. Scavengers need to wait for predator to finish his meal.]

'Intriguing…Laws of nature.' Hearing about laws of nature from existence that defied all laws and logic was pretty odd.

Converting bodies of those trashes gave him only from 30 to 50 per body. Disappointing? Certainly not for Aron. He imagined the entire battlefield of corpses, left for him to profit.

[World Energy: 184]

He spent two days inside of his hut, still, it was time to come back to Roger's farm. New talent and skills will be useful in getting stronger and faster. The boy needed to go to the forest, however, it would be best if someone taught him more about the forest's dangers.

The old man was sitting on his bench before the house. His expression showed sorrow and longing for something.

"Good morning. What's wrong old man?" It was different than usual Roger, with an emotionless eccentric face.

"Fuck off, kid. I don't want to talk about it." His answer was filled with melancholy and pain of loss.

"I owe you an old man. You can always talk to me. I try to help…" Roger's angry voice interrupted his sentence.

"YOU FUCKIN WANT TO HELP ME? HOW? CAN YOU RESURRECT DEAD? CAN YOU FUCKIN REVERSE TIME? NOTHING WILL BRING THEM BACK TO ME! JUST GO AWAY AND STOP FUCKIN AROUND, KID!" It was the truth, empty words couldn't bring dead to life. Aron couldn't assist him in any way, the best option was to leave him alone.

'This feeling…I feel like I already lost something. Missing memories…' Feelings and lack adequate memories related to them.

'I will find out about my past, someday. I should give him some time…'

The boy decided had all the necessary materials to build a new bow, he started from a simple analyzing old bow. He simply imitated the design, and performance of the weapon was terrible. The system saved the day with a new notification.

[Skill Beginner Bow making generated. Beginner Bow Making lv.0(0/1K)]

[Beginner Bow Making lv.0]

[Desc: Art of making simple bows.]

[Level Cap: 5]

'Why skill has only 5 levels?'

[Art covers only the simplest bow designs.]

The information from skill allowed make him, effective bow to use. He built a small shooting range inside of his workshop area. Four days passed inside of space, so almost one day passed in the real world.

'I will sleep for a few hours and go to check on him, tomorrow.' It was the middle of the night, so short rest wouldn't be bad for him.

Aron awoke in the morning and went to Roger. The old farmer was chopping wood at the side of the house. His expression was slightly better, so the boy decided to initiate a conversation.

"Good morning." Little hesitation could be heard inside Aron's voice.

"Morning, kid. You shouldn't bother me yesterday. It was an anniversary..." It was obvious that he won't apologize for the behavior.

"How did they die?" The boy couldn't stop himself to ask, Roger looked him into eyes and said.

"They were slaughtered by fucking bandits while I wasn't here to protect them." Everything started to make sense, he was blaming himself for the inability to protect his family. Aron understood his feelings very well.

"I am sorry…I didn't know. Do you know which bandits?" Boy considered old man as his friend and getting justice for his friends was reasonable action.

"Black Wind…" Roger felt desire to kill when he was speaking this name. Black wind bandits were large group of local bandits. As far you don't steal from nobles, none will send men after you. Commoners are not worth trouble.

"You were hunter. Could you teach me your skills?" It was risky question, man dropped his bow because of his past.

"Ain't you fucking too greedy? Farming, carpentry and hunting? Do you want to be jack of all trades?" Most of the people learned one profession and it was lifetime choice. Aron in other hand, worked on two fields and was still greedy for more.

"Whatever… You cannot just become archer. There is set of conditions to select only suitable descendants to carry on mantle." Old man explained all requirements and boy met all of them without any problem.

"I can teach you with one condition. I want you to tell me what did you do to those troublemakers!" Kid didn't expect him to ask this question. His expression became shocked and confused at the same time.

'How? I have hidden all traces and performed perfectly.' It was troublesome as he needed to find solution for this situation.

"You wonder how? I can smell death from you. Another thing is your inability to control your emotions. When I asked question, your reaction told me everything." Underestimating villagers made him fell into simple word trap.

"I didn't do anything wrong. It wasn't evil deed, but favor to the world." Answer was resolute and filled with self-righteousness. They got what they deserved.

"I agree with you. The problem is that killing leads only to more killing. You cleaned your traces pretty good. Are you sure you want to be hunter?" Aron nodded in confirmation.

"Ok, I will pass my skills…I require only one thing! It's my legacy and you will need someday pass it down too. Remember, you should choose someone worthy!" Roger didn't want to let his legacy die with him.
