Wierd beliefs often contain some degree of truth. For example; in the seventeenth century, some italian violinists kept toads in their violin cases. They believed that rubbing a toad before a concert would help keep their hands from sweating.
This wasn't just a false belief. Due to how most toads secrete a substance that tends to dry out our skin, it definitely worked.
So remember gamers, if your hands start sweating from intense gaming, just raise a few toads in your pc case.
