Chương 4: Fight Night
Rusty Axe is announced first he has a decent following. My name's called the Colosseum roars loudly, I walk out Luke wasn't wrong the ladies ring side are crazy hot.
They walk over giving me a good luck kiss on the cheek I wave to everyone hopping up into the ring. The plasma cage drops, my right eye glows red I scan his stats.
I roll up my sleeves everyone cheers, he bows slightly he has a massive rusty Axe on his back. We can't use weapons until the 3rd round, nobody ever makes it that far.
The bell rings and the round girls come out. He's a beast of a man, he kicks towards my head I catch his leg spinning him around throwing him towards the cage. He stabs his Axe into the ground stopping himself.
I pull a red lollipop out waving him on. He swings his fists hard and fast, I toss the lollipop up catching it in my mouth while blocking his punches with one hand. I lower my hands he gets a sucker punch in, I stand still pushing his hand out of the way slowly.
I smile wiping my lip "good hit. Now it's my turn."
I start swinging faster than he can block hitting his chest stomach face and body. After 3 seconds I step back he stands still then coughs up blood dropping back on the mat.
I walk over waving my hand in his face to see if he's responsive. I sigh glancing up motioning to Luke he's out the bell rings ending the match. Everyone cheers loudly the cage opens a red headed women steps inside she's sexy and half naked.
I glance at Luke he shrugs, she comes over swinging at me I easily block and step around all her limber moves she steps back. "Fight me!"
I look away. "listen lady I don't fight girls-"
She swings, I swing at the same time hitting her in the face lightly with the back of my hand she staggers back. "Why are you even here? You can't block simple jabs?"
She hops left and right doing a roundhouse kick. I lean back dodging it i reach forward grabbing her by the neck lifting her up she strains to speak through the choking. "I-It's the only way I could talk to you."
I drop her she coughs breathing heavily. "What's your name?"
She coughs looking up. "Scarlet."
I sigh pointing behind me. "I'm starving we can talk at my place."
Her eyes light up, I turn walking out of the cage Luke throws me the scanner I get my money tossing it back waving to everyone. I go home with Scarlet pulling out something to cook.
She looks around. "I expected-"
I glance at her. "I'm a single guy I don't need a house in the upper district this place is cheap and close to the places I frequent sorry if its not on your level rich girl."
She smiles sitting down on my couch hopping up and down slightly. "I'm not complaining, It's well kept I couldn't tell if we where in the upper or lower district with how well your house is maintained my place isn't even this clean."
I start cooking. "so what business does a kiss ass rich girl like yourself have with a guy like me?"
She looks nervous. "W-Well I heard you are the only person who's been out of drop city and returned with their sanity. I was wondering if you could tell me about the outside world?"
I dry my hands walking over leaning against the counter. "The outside world makes this place look like heaven, if you run into someone that resembles a human.... they aren't, the grotesque monsters are more appealing than those things. Why are you curious about the outside?"
She opens an image. "My mother left this city for Block City its where I was born I know nobody has heard from the other cities in years But-"
I sigh. "That's some dangerous thinking going on in your head, curiosity killed the cat isn't just a old saying. It rings true and in your case it ends in something worse than death. The moment someone steps out of the city, even a single step consider them dead and if they return don't expect them to be the person they were when they left."
I walk over checking the food she glances over. "So does that mean you were different?"
I stop for a moment setting the fork down "Yeah.... I was different, A gullible kid full of Hope and promise for the future thinking the world would change and go back to normal. That Everyone would work for the benefit of others, You see how that works out."
I put the food on the plates setting out a third she looks confused. "Who's that for?"
I walk to the front door opening it Lilith falls backwards into my legs she's outside pouting. "Dinners Ready"
She looks up blushing slightly. "Aren't you busy?"
I grab her hand pulling her up "Nah come in."
I shut the door pulling her chair out she sits down, I walk over sitting down we start eating they both look excited while they eat. "Who's your friend?"
I glance at Lilith. "This is Scarlet, Scarlet this is Lilith my neighbor."
They shake hands but I can see the Sparks flying between them Scarlet looks at me. "So back to our conversation do you think there would ever be a way to get to block? Like the underground tunnel?"
I laugh. "No way the underground tunnel is collapsed 8 miles outside the city and the road leading to block is under 2 feet of water. Flying through the acid clouds would eat apart the planes metal if you could survive getting off the ground that is. I know family's important but why are you so hell bent on going?"
She fidgets. "This is classified and can't leave this room not even the saints know about this!"
I nod she slides a image across the table. "Before my mother left she gave me this photo."
I pick it up. "This can't be real."
Lilith leans in. "what is it?"
I zoom in. "It's a picture of the open sky the time stamp is recent, if she's going to Block then they must have found a way to clear the air or better yet a cure for the contagion."
Scarlet nods. "that's what I was thinking I know the track would be difficult but don't you think it would be fruitful if it's true?"
I sigh leaning back rubbing the bridge of my nose. "That's a big what if, if we get to block and it's gone we will have made that track for nothing."
Her eyes light up. "You'd go with me?!"
I slide the photo back. "Well I wouldn't let you go alone."
She blushes Lilith grabs my arm. "I wanna go to!"
I glance at her patting her head. "Changing your mind isn't an option-"
She smiles. "I'm glad you realized that."
Scarlet clears her voice glaring at us. "Anyways we should plan a trip as soon as possible."
I set down the pot in the center of the table. "First things first, finish eating."
Their eyes light up. "Gladly!"
I laugh slightly I guess I'm doing this seeing an open sky again sounds interesting.
