The monster in front of Alex wasn't part of the zombie's evolution. It's a different monster, a monster that could talk and recognize Alex was something he had never encountered in his previous life.

"Kekekekekeke..." The monster laughed, it slowly walked around the people who were hard pressed on the ground struggling to move.

Alex barely raised his head and asked, "What do you want?"

The monster's crimson eyes glared at Alex and replied, 

"Kekekeke... Tell me who you are, Alex."

"..."

"I see what you have done to this island… tell me how do you know about the end times?" The monster asked as it titled its head.

Alex was as silent as a thousand languages.

"Kekkeek... It sounds like you need encouragement." 

The monster raised its hand and then a sudden strong burst of energy emanated from the monster slowly dragging everyone on the floor toward itself.
