Chương 1: Noah Oak

(Professor Oak's Lab, Inside a Certain Room.)

An auburn-haired youth drenched in sweat shifted uncomfortably on the bed. His eyebrows furrowed in discomfort for a moment before he awoke with a start. Looking around, the youth observed the unfamiliar room and immediately tensed up.

This was not the room he had slept in last night!

The youth tried to recall what he did the night before. He remembered playing his copy of Pokémon Ultra Moon before falling asleep and after that… nothing.

"Agh!!" The youth groaned in pain as foreign memories invaded his mind. It had been several minutes and the process had yet to be completed. All throughout the process, the pain increased severely, to the point where he couldn't help but let out a blood-curdling scream.

The transfer of memories ended shortly after. The youth released a murky breath and took a moment to stabilize his now chaotic mind. Once he felt stable enough, the youth analyzed the new set of memories and immediately realized that the world he was in was the Pokémon World.

Better yet, the previous host's name was Noah Oak. As in the grandson of the famous Professor Oak! He also had an older sister and a younger brother named Daisy Oak and Gary Oak.

"OHMYGOD!!" Noah clenched his hands tightly in shock and excitement. This was the Pokémon World, a world he used to only view through video games and yet, he somehow ended up here.

He was about to slap himself in the face to verify if this was a dream or not when the bedroom door slammed open. A teenage girl – with light brown hair and green eyes – entered the room and stared at him with wide eyes before she enveloped him into a tight hug.

"Noah! My dear Noah, I'm so glad that you're awake." The girl, who he had recognized as Daisy Oak, wept on his shoulder as she held him. Noah hesitated for a moment before he returned the gesture.

"I'm okay… Sis." He said with a hoarse voice that almost cracked as he gently patted her back. Although he had siblings in his other life, their relationship was slightly estranged due to their parent's messy divorce. This didn't mean that he hated his parents, in fact, he loved them dearly and he knew they did as well.

Unfortunately, the divorce lead to him staying with his father whilst his younger siblings stayed with their mother. He visited them when he could during that period, but his father's work eventually took him abroad which lead to his strained relationship with his siblings.

Daisy nodded and let go of her younger brother before staring at him in confusion. She had travelled around the world to help her grandfather with his research and to fulfil her dream of becoming a superb co-ordinator. It was because of her travels that Noah had become distant, sometimes outright ignoring her existence. However, the Noah in front of her looked at her with softness in his eyes and this sudden change baffled her.

"If you keep staring at me like that, I'm afraid you'll make me blush." Noah feigned as he shifted his line of sight away from the teenage girl, he tried his hardest to hide the smirk that's slowly creeping up on his face.

"Huh?" Daisy stuttered absent-mindedly as she snapped out of her stupor and felt her cheeks heat up in embarrassment. She quickly shook her head and pinched the boys exposed cheek.

"Ow!" Noah yelped in pain as he heard his sister's melodic laughter. He looked at her wide smile and couldn't help but feel a tinge of guilt. Although the original Noah Oak died, the fact remains that he replaced him and him seeing the young women in front of him show such a smile saddened him.

"Hey, are you alright?" Daisy asked as she rubbed his cheek with her thumb.

"Yea, I'm just happy that you're here Sis," Noah said with a soft smile. He then noticed her glistening eyes and hurriedly tried to change the topic. "That reminds me, is grandfather still out?"

Daisy giggled at his compassion. "Yea. I called him last night, he said he's on his way back from Hoenn an–"

"Noah-boy! Are you alright?" Oak exclaimed as he entered the room in a huff with his forehead drenched in sweat. His hands held an incubator that had a sky-blue egg.

Noah stilled as he heard his grandfather's voice. He turned his head towards the door and his eyes widened at the iconic figure of the Pokémon franchise. It took him a couple of moments to calm down before he squeezed out a reply. "I'm alright grandpa, it was… just a bad fall."

Oak released a breath of relief and turned his sights to his granddaughter. "Daisy, didn't you say that he needed to go to the hospital? Look, there's nothing wrong with him."

"Hehe, sorry about that grandpa." Daisy scratched her head in embarrassment.

"Haa… It's better to be safe than sorry." Oak shook his head before his eyes lit up. "That reminds me. Noah, I have a present for you."

"Mm? A present? What is it?" Noah asked in confusion.

"Look, I know you have no interest in becoming a trainer–" Oak solemnly spoke but was interrupted by Noah.

"Actually, about that… I've decided to become an official trainer." Noah said with a determined look and continued after seeing the questioning gazes of the two. "I've realized how short life could be after this incident and I didn't want to have any regrets in the future."

"That's wonderful news!" Oak exclaimed in joy as he laughed boisterously. He handed his grandson the incubator he'd been holding. "Consider this your starter then. I got this little guy from Professor Birch back in Hoenn as a gift for helping with his research."

"Woah!!" Noah muttered with widened eyes as he gently placed the incubator on the top of his blanket. "What will it hatch into?"

"I won't spoil the surprise, but I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed with the result." Oak shook his head with a wide smile. "Just make sure to keep it with you at all times, it's very close to hatching and it would be better to have it imprint yourself as the parent."

"Don't worry grandpa, I won't let this little guy out of my sight," Noah said as he moved his gaze away from the egg and looked at the duo in front of him with warm eyes. "Thank you both for today… It's been a while since I've been this happy."

"There, there. It's okay." Daisy said softly as she embraced him again whilst Oak ruffled his grandson's hair in amusement.

"Make sure to rest up, I'll let you start your journey in a months' time. That should give you enough time to catch up on everything." Oak said before he made his way out of the room.

Daisy released him from the embrace and asked. "Do you need anything? You shouldn't move for the next couple of hours to make sure that everything's alright."

"Uhh, some food would be nice," Noah said in embarrassment as his stomach began to growl.

"Right, you haven't eaten for a couple of days," Daisy exclaimed as she ran towards the door. "I'll be right back."

Noah shook his head and carefully observed the egg inside the incubator. It had a sky-blue coating with grey swirls covering the top. He ran through all the Pokémon he could remember that had such a color scheme and couldn't help but grin widely as he remembered a certain Dragon-type Pokémon from the Hoenn Region.

He placed the incubator next to him and began to wonder about his future. 'Gary is 8 years-old now. That means I have about two years before everything in the series happens… I should take this time to explore the regions and become a powerful trainer.

I'll spend the month I have filling in the holes of my already existing knowledge of the world, and being a part of the Oak Family should make information gathering a lot easier. I guess I'll repay the family by becoming the Champion of Kanto in the future.'

"But seriously, to die from drinking water too fast…" Noah shook his head at the previous host's misfortune.
