Chương 98: The Truth of Entropy

Wuying spent the better part of the next two days absorbing most of the lower level cores in the room before he took a short break. During this break he and Yun talked extensively about the elements and Laws involved in what he was absorbing from the cores that she had liberated for him.

"So let me get this right, Wuying. You're learning a high level law from absorbing these things? How is that possible, this Yun thought you were cultivating the Darkness elemental laws, how are you learning a Law from these fragments that's related to that?"

"I think there's a misconception here, Yun. The primary 'laws' as we see them are not the true laws of the Heavenly Dao. We refer to the Elements as being the Laws we cultivate, but in reality it's just a generic term for a family of Heavenly Dao Laws. Within the Darkness Dao there are a number of Laws, and some are more incredible than others.

"This being you destroyed is a being that was brought to life from a very high level Darkness Dao, the Laws of Entropy. Within the Darkness Dao are all sorts of things related to breaking things down and disrupting the order of the universe, the Yin side of the Laws, while the opposite would be the Light Dao, which is the Yang side and is about creation and enforcing the order of the universe.

"Entropy is an extremely difficult Dao for anyone to obtain insight into because it is a Dao that goes against the universe's life force itself. The end goal of Entropy laws is that all things will eventually decay into the smallest components and no longer be a cohesive whole, as well as all things will cease movement. The result of this is the concept of the 'heat death of the universe', where everything stops completely and the suns all burn out, removing all heat from the universe.

"This is a concept that can achieve a great deal of things, from Death laws to laws that can create a field of absolute zero, like your skill from the Volvaka Hive. This is why the extremely high level laws are so important! From the highest Laws you can perceive the laws that are derived from them, resulting in a greater understanding of the Dao! As a result of learning the laws of Entropy I could conceivably work to create the effect of any of the laws that can derive from it, such as Ice laws have a source in Entropy as they are the result of things reaching a point of stillness to where they freeze.

"Additionally, as Light is a form of energy and heat transmission, the laws of Darkness fall under Entropy as well. With a greater understanding of Entropy I could even create an aura that blocks out all light!"

Wuying finally stopped talking for a minute after all of this, breathing a little more heavily as he hadn't stopped to breathe in his monologue at all. Yun was looking at him, pondering things at the same time.

"So Wuying, you mean to tell me that if this Yun were to learn the Heavenly Dao of Order that I would be able to create the Laws of Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Light, and even Life?"

"Yes, Yun, that's what's so incredible about the Greater Daos! Let me tell you about the formation of the Dao."

From One there came two, Yin and Yang. These were opposing forces, but they were necessary to the universe, and from them all things flow. The beginning of anything was a mixture of everything, called the Primal Chaos. Within the Primal Chaos nothing was certain. There was no organization, and the Heavens and Earth were all mixed up. When Yin and Yang came to be, Order was imposed upon the Chaos, but with Order also came Entropy. Entropy sought to destroy the order and return to Chaos, a perfect state of everything being one.

With Yin and Yang established, things were separated and the Heavens and Earth began to separate as well. Heavy things began to move downward and become the Earth, while lighter things began to move up and become the Heavens. These were Yin, the heavy and impure things, and Yang, the light and pure things.

As the universe became separate, four great beasts also came into being.

The great dragon of the east, the Azure Dragon Qinglong, who represents the spring.

The White Tiger, Baihu, of the west, who represents autumn.

The Black Tortoise of the north, Xuanwu, who represents winter.

The Vermillion Bird of the south, Zhuque, who represents summer.

These four beasts ruled the four quadrants of the Heavens with love and respect, never fighting each other, and eventually interacted with many other godly beings born of the chaos.

Eventually the Primal Chaos was dimmed, and the universe had exhausted much of the creation energy inherent within it. The aura of Primal Chaos became more and more difficult to find, and with its departure the birth of God Beasts ended. From then on, more races came to be from the turbid aura of the universe, and occasionally the great Gods would give them children of great power.

After a great deal of time, many worlds had been created, but many of them could not sustain life. On the few worlds that could, even more turbid aura gave birth to even lower beings, and these were the third creation, the mortals.

The God Beasts had no need to cultivate, as they were born directly from the Primal Chaos and were at the highest level of power in the universe. The second generation, the Heavenly Beasts, also did not need to actively cultivate, as they still obtained a small portion of Primal Chaos upon their birth, but their power had to grow on its own after their birth, and their powers were not all equal.

Finally, the lowest creatures, the mortal beasts, were capable of absorbing the energies of the heavens to grow more powerful, and this was viewed as a blessing and a curse. These mortals could ascend to a higher plane if they showed enough dedication and cultivated well, becoming akin to the Heavenly Beasts, but they were also dependent on their inheritances, which was their curse.

Without an inheritance the Mortal Beasts could never gain power or ascend to the ranks of Heavenly Beasts. But the Mortal Beasts were clever in their desperation, and through many generations there would always be some who learned of how to cultivate, resulting in many different systems of cultivation. But the Mortal Beasts were jealous of others power, and so a great many powerful creatures also learned how to transform their power into harmful attacks in order to eliminate their rivals.

After ascending to a higher level of power, some of the more magnanimous beasts would share their learning with those still below, eventually forming sects and raising successors who could carry on their learning far into the future. These great and magnanimous forefathers passed down the information of the Dao that they discovered when they reached the level of the Heavenly Beasts, including the creation of the universe, with their techniques.

One of these great ascendant beasts passed down his learning to four powerful beasts on this planet, whose physical bodies had grown strong enough to dominate their home regions. From these four beasts, eventually, grew the Lynhär and the Volvaka due to their encounters with the fallen gods.
