Lachlan talked a bit more with James, "So what happened to May and Jack?"
"May was fired while Jack retired," James responded as a frown appeared across his face. It seems Jack specifically was a difficult topic to talk about. But considering James' wording it seems they aren't dead yet.
"Anyway, you all should enjoy your time on the boat. There are a few facilities for fun and you can become friends with some of the soldiers," James quickly changed the topic. The group did just that and left the room.
The time on the spent was peaceful to Lachlan, as he stared across the calm ocean. He would then looked back and notice the armada of ships, all of which were filled with experienced and strong soldiers. Although Lachlan felt pretty confident he could beat them just through his strength alone.
For the few hours that is lasted Lachlan spent a bit of time competing against the soldiers in a game room. It was primarily used for soldiers to relax after a hard battle or mission since their mental state should always be at peak condition.
He also played a few sports with them. A quick game of basketball then indoor soccer. His team had lost but that was mainly because he hasn't played with a soccer ball in literal years. He didn't mind though, he rather enjoyed the games.
The soldiers, on the other hand, were quite excited about playing some games with Lachlan. They had heard quite a lot about him and the group, mainly about their overwhelming strength. James was seriously considering hiring them, but that could be postponed until they meet up with their families.
The meals that were on the ship were amazing as well. They had professional chefs to cook for the soldiers delicious and nutritional meals. Lachlan talked to some of the soldiers while he ate, listening to their stories.
The number of victories they have under their belt.
It didn't take long before they finally reached Brisbane. Looking across the water Lachlan saw a thriving city, filled with life. 'It seems things have really calmed down' Lachlan felt as though he could actually relax in such a world.
The battleships and carriers stopped at the port, this would be the place they restock and a few of them go to meet their families. As they were getting off Lachlan noticed a large shark beneath the boat.
It quickly poked its head out the water and poked James with its nose. Lachlan thought it would be James, considering he has another soul contract used up.
The shark was pitch black and 19 metres long, it was roughly 3 - 4 metres wide and gave off an aura. Lachlan could already tell what the aura was, it was something he is now familiar with.

"Strong shark you got there," Lachlan knew there was something familiar with this shark. It was the king's aura it gave off. But there was one other thing amongst its strengths that attracted Lachlan's attention, Dark Sea King's Domain.
Whenever Lachlan thinks of a domain he thinks of an area around the shark that's completely under its control. It could either heavily affect anything in its domain, giving more suppression then the aura or it might be able to control everything in its domain.
"Indeed, something I tamed back in the Pacific Ocean," James said, he seemed to have gone in a trance thinking about the past, "That was a fun adventure, we had just survived a battle."
"Anyway, I might get going, back to South Australia. I really miss my family," Lachlan said. He had been constantly thinking about his family on the way back, not to mention he was always thinking about them while on the island.
"Of course you would, you're still young. So during this time making sure to spend the most amount of time as you can with your family," James said. He understood Lachlan's worries and feelings, it wouldn't be right to ask him to completely abandon his family again.
'Come on out Calamity' Lachlan summoned Calamity and hopped on while holding onto his bag tightly, he turned around and waved goodbye towards the group, "I'll be back sometime later," They were still planning on meeting up later.
Calamity spread its wings wide and swung down. Quickly shooting off into the air, gaining the attention of all the citizens and a few soldiers. It wasn't common for people to fly around cities due to a few laws that had been placed. Although, if you're fast enough it isn't as though anyone can tell you off.
After getting far enough to the point he couldn't see the city properly he took out the gravity stone in his pocket. He was surprised James didn't ask him about it but that might be because he'll ask at a later date.
Lachlan ordered the gravity around his and Calamity's bodies to be decreased to zero. Further increasing the speed at which they flew. This was a trick he thought about just as they were leaving the island.
Once he met his family he would definitely go back and see if he can get to the centre of the island through its use. He desired to get to the tree, but training to get to there would still be incredibly difficult.
It didn't take long to reach Adelaide with their new speed. The view didn't disappoint him as it was similar to Brisbane. Thriving with life as everyone poured into there for safety. Lachlan realised the people staying in the cities still probably reject everything that's happened and just want things to go back to normal.
Some of them might have even seen a beast, which was rather unlikely but not impossible.
Once he reached Adelaide he turned direction. Going straight towards Mount Barker and shot off, some people in the city noticed him in the distance. But seeing Calamity not go towards them calmed them down.
It didn't take long for Lachlan to reach Mount Barker, but the sight was something he didn't expect. He also felt his heart begin to pump faster, he had a bad premonition and started to worry.
Everything had been destroyed. Most of the houses had been razed to the ground, some of them looked like they were burnt down. Lachlan saw the place where the military should have been stationed but couldn't sense anything. He went down to take a closer look but it was completely empty, aside from the bloodstains covering the ground and walls there was no one there.
'I sense something in that direction' Calamity said as he pointed his face towards a group of houses relatively untouched. The beasts have heightened senses so Lachlan trusted Calamity's judgement. There was still a bit of hope that his family could be in Adelaide now.
But that hope was crushed when he saw two tombstones. Lachlan's body felt weak, his mind almost broke at sight. On the tombs read Jack Wilson and Adam Wilson, it was written in blood that had long since dried and stained the rock.
Lachlan reached out and grabbed them, his mind going at a lightning pace to digest everything. He felt as though it would explode. He brushed his hand across the names, his tears pouring out.
Clenching his fist he slammed them down, causing small craters to form in the ground, "Damnit!" Lachlan kept pounding at the ground. His tamed beasts felt a brush of hatred come from Lachlan, they could feel his regret and hatred in his discussion to leave.
'Father, there's something underground' Calamity tried to give Lachlan a bit of hope. Lachlan jumped up and rushed towards the house, he saw some bloodstains on the ground leading to a hatch that had been sealed tightly.
He grabbed hold of the handle and tried twisting it. He realised it was locked so he gripped harder, his strength crushed the metal between his hands. He squatted down and pulled back with all his strength, his feet sinking into the ground before he heard the hatch begin to give out.
Lachlan gave one final tug and ripped it from the ground, he saw a staircase leading further down. Lachlan threw the hatch on the ground behind him and sprinted down. But the moment he got to the bottom was the moment his heartstrings burst apart.
There, one a slab of concrete lay a beautiful middle-aged woman. Her hair spreading across the ground, her completion was completely snow white. She had no breath, nor a heartbeat.
"Mum"

Yeah, I didn't like writing this chapter.
Edit: Yeah, I didn't like editing this chapter either.
Lachlan collapsed at the sight of his mother's corpse, tears blocked his vision. He appeared next to her, with his hands on her stomach.
'Analyse!'
'Analyse!'
'Analyse!'
'Damnit come on just work once,' Lachlan screamed in his mind, looking for some hope to hold onto. Clenching his fist he punched the wall behind her, causing cracks to spread in the shape of a spider web.
He kept punched till his hands bled, he clenched his mouth so hard that blood came out of his nose. Everything began to pile up more and more, his regrets were haunting him at the moment. His decision to go to the island, to leave his family behind with the thought that everything would work out.
Calamity was still outside because it couldn't fit. But all his tamed beasts felt an even more overwhelming feeling of dread overcome them. They realised Lachlan's mental state wasn't right, but no matter how much they shouted it couldn't reach his mind. They were being blocked off by Lachlan's emotions.
"Lachlan you're back, I'm sorry I couldn't protect everyone," A faint voice could be heard behind him, one that seemed to be on the edge of life and death. Faint coughing could be heard, Lachlan recognised the voice.
Looking back he saw Dylan, laying against the floor behind a wall with his face towards him, one eye shut from a wound going down his face. His condition was bad too put it lightly. A leg had been torn off, some of his fingers as well. Deep wounds could be seen all over his body, especially across his stomach and shoulder.
It had all been tightly wrapped in cloth, however, the blood had soaked through, making him look miserable. His breathing was scattered and weak, it looked as though he would die the moment someone touches him.

Lachlan realised how serious the injuries were and got up. He sprinted towards Dylan, appearing next to him instantly. He pulled out the Vitality Banana and peeled it open, he placed it next to Dylan's mouth and waited for him to eat.
Forcing it down might cause further damage but right now, the banana was the only thing that could save Dylan from his current predicament.
Seeing that Lachlan didn't come over and attack him calmed Dylan down slightly, seeing the fruit Lachlan was giving him confused Dylan but he chowed it down anyway. Although it was difficult he managed to swallow it down.
A burning sensation overwhelmed him, it was concentrated on his wounds. He screamed and rolled around, for a moment he thought Lachlan did want to kill him. Get him back for not being able to protect the family.
But once the burning sensation stopped he felt something he would have never felt forever. He felt his feet touching the ground, the feeling of the cold concrete floor against his foot made his ecstatic. Getting up he realised his other wounds were partially healed.
Two of his fingers weren't healed and a few toes were missing as well. But considering how many fingers he was missing or the fact that his entire leg was missing, facing most of them back brought Dylan a bit of joy.

Lachlan was glad he could save Dylan from the clutches of death. But looking back at his mother's corpse left him defeated. "What happened?" Lachlan struggled to ask. His voice still shaking at the thought of what happened.
*Sigh* Dylan knew it would come to this and he was reminded of what happened. His entire body tensed and tears welled up in his eyes. There was also a trace of fear with the sadness, fear of what happened that day.
"It happened a month ago, we were unprepared for the attack. That fuckin firebird wiped out our vehicles and armoury, and everyone that was in it. That was only the beginning, the bird didn't come back, but some others certainly did. Intelligent beast, coming from Victor Harbour's direction"
It was just as Lachlan predicted. His regret shot through the roof when he heard it happened only a month ago. Meaning if he came earlier he could have protected everyone with his overwhelming strength.
'What use is this strength if it has no purpose' Lachlan's entire reason for exploring the island and training was to get stronger. Yet even with all the strength he has, he has yet to really save anyone or anything. Instead, he continued to stay on the island and train, only deciding to worry about things once they happen.
While Lachlan was lost in his regrets Dylan continued, "There were probably 7 of them, the military and I ganged up on one, a cat, thinking we had the upper hand when we saw it wasn't reacting. But before we realised it our legs were missing, luckily for me I was in the middle of pouncing towards it only causing one of my legs to be cut and a couple of fingers. Turned out it attacked us with its tail, one that had black razor sharp hairs that cut straight through our skin and bones" Dylan moved his hands towards his leg and held onto it.
"After that it didn't seem to take interest in the fight or anyone for that matter, giving me a chance to escape. I took it and ran to your family, requesting we escape right away. That didn't sit well with them, but they knew they had to. So, instead we took the children, they are the soldier's children. They wanted the children to have a safe future, so they entrusted us with their protection, Adam(J) protected our backs as we escaped, he knew they couldn't win so the least he could do was protect their lineages"
"We only managed to escape 2 kilometres before we were swarmed by beasts, we quickly noticed the house and thought we could use it to our advantage, limiting the number of enemies we had to face. We already had our beasts summoned and were ready to fight, once it began we quickly realised we wouldn't be able to win, they were too strong and there were far too many of them. We took down one but three would come and take its place"
"So instead we relied on this underground shelter which by some miracle this house had. But before we could reach it one of those intelligent beast attacks, it was a giant scorpion. Its stinger ripped through the house walls, stabbing through Jack, and Adam. There was almost no chance of survival, but we didn't want their bodies to be mauled on, so I dragged them down with us"
"I shut the door behind us and locked it tight, with the hope that the beasts would eventually give up. As although they have strength, none of them had the ability to open it up. The scorpion tried to pierce through it and get us multiple times but we were already at the bottom of the staircase. I quickly realised I still hadn't unsummoned my snakes, they were dropping like flies when they got teamed up on by dozens of beasts"
"When I realised there was only one more I unsummoned it through the hatch, I summoned it where we are right now; It turned out to be fast, it was badly wounded as it had holes across its entire body. I wasn't sure what to do so I just unsummed it again hoping its injuries won't worsen"
"We waited two weeks before we opened the hatch again, only slightly, to see and hear what was happening outside. There was nothing, no beasts and no corpses. Walking out we carried the corpses of Jack and Adam outside to bury them, Chloe spent awhile handmaking those gravestones, she used her blood to write as she regretted everything that's happened. She blamed herself for things that she couldn't be blamed for"
"Once we walked back inside we quickly realised something was wrong, there was a beast in there hiding in the roof, one that wasn't too strong to kill me, but certainly strong enough to kill Chloe. It was most likely attracted by the scent of Adam and Jacks body. A spider attacked us from behind, biting and injecting its venom into Chloe before I could react"
"I went up instantly and smashed its body into the ground, completely shattering it. I ran down the stairs and laid Chloe down on the bench, I trained to suck to venom out but there was simply too much. Not to mention we were already starving and thirsty, she died within minutes, struggling to the very last minute"
"We only had a couple of water bottles with us, they didn't last very long. However, once the hatch was opened I ran towards the sink in the house and filled it with water, luckily this house had water tanks connected to it"
"We've stayed down here the rest of the time, I was too afraid to go back out there. Terrified, I had constant nightmares of that cat, ripping my body apart. I couldn't handle it, so I hid down here, "Protecting" everyone else when really I was just protecting myself"
"Do what you want, laugh at me, beat me up, even kill me. I wouldn't blame you, but just make sure to protect those children" Dylan's tears ran down his nose onto the ground, his last request was said and he pointed towards a dark corner.
Looking towards the corner where all the children were gathered Lachlan quickly realised something was off about Sarah, her body looked different, almost like an amphibian. Some of the other children were in a similar situation but weren't too obvious as they hid their bodies.
Seeing her brother staring at her different body caused Sarah to become shy, covering herself completely. She was afraid he would think of her different, afraid he would see her as a monster or beasts.
Lachlan knew why and felt even worse.

Bit more dialogue in this chapter than usual, but ay, how else would I talk about the past.
Edit: Still lots of talking.
