Cold sweat flew down Peak Master Boran's back. His expression was solemn but his pale face betrayed his shock and anxiety.
'This… this is impossible!'' he screamed in his mind.
The bastard who had killed his son stood in the sky calmly. It was as if he was the sky himself! Vast and overwhelming power was being emitted by him. Peak Master Boran felt it hard to even breathe. His body wouldn't listen to him.
What was this? The last time he saw this kid, he was only a measly Spirit Lord! How was it possible for him to be a Spirit Emperor now? The Spirit Emperor level was a venerated peak on the long road of cultivation! Not even the founding sect master of the Long Stream Sect was a Spirit Emperor!
Peak Master Boran couldn't believe what he was seeing or hearing. He thought it was all a dream, a nightmare! He pinched his cheek and he felt pain. He wasn't dreaming, this was real! A real nightmare!
Sect Master Word turned to look at Boran and frowned. Frowning was the only act he could muster the strength to do to at least give an appearance that he was calm and even capable of controlling his own body. His whole being was being suppressed and forced down by an unstoppable and invisible might all around him.
Shura looked at all of this calmly. He had never flaunted his cultivation base before, but here he was doing it wildly. The impressive pressure that a Spirit Emperor possessed was being emitted with such intensity that even the Spirit Battleships that weren't even people began to shake. The sky and earth were vibrating from this overwhelming and intense power.
Seeing that Boran's face was as white as a sheet of paper and that he remained silent, Sect Master Word spoke up instead.
"Senior, there must be a misunderstanding…"
"Oh? A misunderstanding, you say? I can remember like it was yesterday. Your Peak Master had sent countless mercenaries and bounty hunters after my head. He even tried to kill me himself. You try to explain to me how this is all just a 'misunderstanding'."
Shura had wanted to hear what these people were going to say. That's why he didn't immediately kill them but decided to talk to them first. Yet the sect master was trying to weasel his way out of the trouble. This greatly disappointed him.
Thoughts raced through Sect Master Word's head like thunder and lightning. The only one who Peak Master Boran wanted to kill was just an insignificant junior who killed his son. Since when did a Spirit Emperor kill his son? But Boran recognizes this young man. So he must be that junior! But… how? This aura, this might, a Spirit Emperor was standing in front of him right now! Which part of him was a 'junior'?
Shura spoke up and interrupted Sect Master Word's thoughts.
"I will keep this simple. Things are always simple. You wanted to kill me. I will kill you. All. Of. You. If I leave even one of you alive, there's no telling when I would die in my sleep in the future."
Sect Master Word was about to speak up, but with a motion of Shura's hand, the word was stuck in his throat.
"This all began with Peak Master Boran's son being righteous. I don't know whether I am righteous or not. But I know is that I'm still alive and he is dead, and all of you will be joining him now."
Shura was satisfied that his enemies knew why they were dying. With that done he would now act.
Just as he was about to kill them, a voice traveled out from the portal: "Halt, fellow cultivator!"
Shura immediately swung the sword in his hand. Although he didn't have any sword techniques and he hadn't wielded a sword in recent memory, the might of a Spirit Emperor imbued the sword strike with the natural power of the world.
A single slashing motion sent out an invisible shockwave of destructive energy that immediately engulfed the whole area.
Woods splintered, metal deformed and erupted. Liquid evaporated. The enormous fleet of battleships immediately disintegrated as countless people also exploded into bloody mists that then evaporated.
Everyone in the Long Stream Sect was instantly killed. Their mysterious ally was also killed. All of them were dead, there was no exception. Peak Master Boran who wanted to avenge his son was dead. The Sect Master who had also avenged someone was also dead. Yet Shura was certain that Silis wasn't. He just knew she wasn't present here today. Had she already perished in the sect? Or was it that she wasn't even in the sect in the first place?
The enemies he wanted to kill were dead. He never imagined that it would happen so quickly and end so easily with a wave of his hand. Perhaps an easy life wasn't 'right'?
A man in a pure white robe without a speck of dust or stain stepped out from the portal. He looked around. He didn't see any people or thing other than Shura who stood out in the sky in front of the portal.
The man's face twitched. He shot a deep gaze at Shura. If a gaze could kill Shura would really be dead a few times over.
"So you're related to the Long Stream Sect. Then you will also die," Shura said.
Since this man tried to stop him from killing his enemies and looked at him with killing intent, then he was also his enemy. Enemies in this cruel world must be killed or he would be the one dead.
Shura made another casual swinging motion and another wave of destructive force blasted out through the heaven and earth.
This force immediately engulfed the man. But he didn't explode or turn to dust. He was fine. His robe was still without a speck of blemish and fine too.
Shura chuckled. "Oh, so you're also a Spirit Emperor. That's good, it'd be boring otherwise. I'm starting to like fighting too."
Two men each with the power of the world behind their back clashed in the sky. Each exchange of blows unleashed fearsome waves of aftershock.
Shura didn't hold himself back at all. He attacked with everything he had. He was just a newly promoted Spirit Emperor. He didn't know how long the other had been a Spirit Emperor. There might be a fatal gap between their experience and understanding of this level's power as well as raw strength.
After exchanging half a dozen blows with the man, Shura knew he wouldn't be able to overpower the man if he kept attacking like that. Shura wasn't going to take any chances anymore. He'd attack with everything he had in one strike. A prolonged battle had too many unknown variables.
Shura concentrated all of his energy into one movement, one strike. His intuition told him that if he didn't, he'd never be able to kill a Spirit Emperor. His mind was fully focused on executing this one attack. His body was also coordinated and exerted everything to get this attack to succeed.
Shura thrust his sword at the man. Sword energy a few centimeter thick shot through space like lightning and immediately pierced through the man's Core. The Spirit Emperor didn't even have time to react.
'Was this really a Spirit Emperor?' Shura instantly thought. 'Or is it that my Spirit Emperor level and his Spirit Emperor level were two different concepts.'
The man had a look of confusion on his face. Blood seeped out of his mouth and then he coughed, spewing blood all into the air. The man's lifeless body then fell to the ground.
Killing a Spirit Emperor was so easy? One of such legendary beings that are looked up by everyone on this continent and took forever to become one just died like this?
This Spirit Emperor must only be a first layer Spirit Emperor and a very weak one at that. A mediocre Spirit Emperor was still a mediocre cultivator in front of a stronger Spirit Emperor.
The portal was still standing even after a titanic clash between Spirit Emperors. Shura slashed at it and then it finally dissipated.
Whoever it was that was behind all of this, he had become their enemy today. But Shura didn't care about that. He was about to leave this continent and return to Aggradise Continent. It was unlikely that he was going to ever return here. The cultivation civilization on this continent also did not have sufficient knowledge and technique to travel the distance necessary to reach other landmasses on the planet.
By the time such advancements were made, he was sure these potential enemies would be long dead. There would then be nobody to come bother him.
…
Shura stood alone above the endless waves of the ocean. He was outside of Short Continent. Far outside enough that whatever he did would not attract anyone's notice.
Today was the day he was leaving this continent forever. Shura's cultivation base had already stabilized and he became proficient in utilizing his newfound abilities. He was now able to follow the instructions in the supreme being's knowledge to use a teleportation technique that would allow him to return to Aggradise Continent.
Shura stood there. He anticipated going back very much. It had been around two years since he was gone. A 22 years-old Spirit Emperor, the thought made him smile. He smiled even wider when he thought of a certain someone.
The space around Shura shook and he vanished without a trace.
