Chương 9: Following

Cora

I couldn't stand there for long. It was hurting to be thrown out of the house I spent the most of the memories in. So, I walked down the street lost in my own world. Thank god, I got my phone with me. I took it out of my pocket and tried calling my aunt and other colleagues but nothing came except a tone "the number you are trying to call is unavailable" and then the call ended.

I somehow lost my way because everything was a little different than my world, the streets were placed in a different direction. Even though I knew this neighbourhood, it was like walking in a foreign place.

When I reached grandma's house thee only thing, I could wish was to find her face welcoming me. But even though she was no more, that house still felt warm and comfortable. I rang the bell on the wooden carved wall on the left side of the garden. I knew that I could not expect grandma to open the door but I could expect aunt to open it. But this was not the case, an old beautiful woman opened it and gave me a big smile.

"Hello young lady! What can I help you with?" she said,

What would I say now, how could I forget that this was an entire different world. I was so drown in my imagination that I didnt realize when did I rand the bell.

"Young lady, are you okay?" she said again but now with a worried look.

"Yeah, I am sorry, I came in the wrong house" I replied back, and started walking back.

"Wait, wait, are you sure? I think I know you"

How would she know me, this was the first time I met her.

"Yeah, I am sorry, I have to go" and I ran past the house.

She looked like a nice person, I thought on my way. Where should I go now? I wondered. I could feel the temperature falling down a little and the snow started falling. My hands were frozen like ice now and my stomach grumbled loud cause I haven't eaten anything today. I just observed the white crystals falling on the ground and melting in few minutes.

The streets were slippery because of the snow but it was okay for me to walk as I wore sneakers. Just when I heard a car's horn but it was too late to turn back. The black car banged over me and I fell on the ground. I could not feel the pain but I was unable to move, speak or see clearly. The only I could see was the white zebra crossing lines turning red. The colour I hated the most.

Arthur

I could not resist not worrying about her. So, I wore my coat and just ran out. For a minute my soul was cursing me so much for throwing her out of the house. I could not find her anywhere. The winds became more colder as they ran through my hairs.

Where could she go?

I wondered for a while in the streets and a sudden sight of her grabbed my attention. She was standing in front of an old house, and I could see she was lost in her own world. Her hands slowly reached for the bell. And her face brightened up already. But, seeing an old woman on the door her smile went totally bland.

I could remember that house, it was the house of the old couples who lived there for several years. Whenever I saw them in my way to airport my day mood would lighten up, they both loved each other too much even after so many years. It made me believe that love would have existed in old times but now it became extinct.

She ran out of the garden in a wind speed, leaving behind the women behind whole confused. I could not listen to their conversation but it looked like that women had a lot to say to her. She watched her passing the road until she faded in the fog.

I was right behind her, fascinated with her observing skills as she stared at every passing thing, even a small stone. I didn't knew where she was going but my heart told me to follow her, so I did.

The lights became green allowing the people to cross the road. She moved forward but not soon a black car hit her and she fell into the ground. It was so fast that I didn't even had a chance to react. her arms started to bleed. Her eyes slowly started to close and that reminded me of that acciedent. That blood, that red colour, it just can't leave me alone.
