The next day Jayne and Ronnie slept for a long time.
Jayne woke up earlier than Ronnie. She woke up to find the handsome man sleeping on the neck across the bamboo cot on which she was sleeping.
She sat up and got down the cot. She walked towards Ronnie and found him sleeping soundly. She leaned down and sat on the ground on her knees.
A ray of sulight passed through the small window exactly over Ronnie's face. He seemed disturbed by the ray of light. He lightly cringed his eyebrows and then drifted back to sleep like a baby. Looking at that, Jayne's eyes filled with an unknown warmth.
She remained quietly gazing at him lovingly, smiling to herself.
Seeing that Ronnie didn't come to collect breakfast, Auntie Mo herself walked into their house with their breakfast. Jayne got up and walked towards her and smiled while she collected the plate and placed it on the cot.
Aunty Mo quizzically asked Jayne if everything was okay for which she smiled and gestured with her thumb that everything was okay and he was just sleeping. They both then walked downstairs together after which Aunty Mo left to her house and Jayne went to freshen up.
She returned to the room later and found that Ronnie was still asleep. She didn't have the heart to wake him up. But then the breakfast would turn cold if he woke up late. She went towards Ronnie and slowly called his name. Upon hearing his name, the corner of Ronnie's mouth curved upwards. He just said, "mmm."
After this he continued to sleep. Seeing that Ronnie was in no mood to wake up, Jayne frowned and pouted at her futile try to wake him up. 'Waking him up will indeed be a difficult task for the rest of my life. Sigh.' She cried inwardly.
Just then her eyes sparkled as she thought of a mischievous plan. She whispered, "My dear hubby…." in his ears.
Ronnie jolted awake from his sleep and sat up straight. He felt like he'd run a marathon and was panting heavily, his hair dishelved. Seeing him like that Jayne laughed out loud. She silently pumped a fist in the air inwardly.
"Jennie this is not fair. This isn't the way to wake up your hubby alright." He complained.
Jayne immediately retorted, "What else should I be doing my dear hubby?" she spoke animatedly while batting her eyelashes trying hard to look innocent even though mischief was written all over face.
Ronnie, "...."
"You wait for me. I'll take care of you later." He snapped at her and walked downstairs without looking at her.
Jayne continued her laughter after he left and even got up to do a dance move in celebration of pulling her husband's legs first thing in the morning.
Ronnie came back to find Jayne waiting for him with their breakfast. He came to her and said, "Good morning wifey. Did you sleep well?"
Jayne tried hard not to laugh thinking of how she annoyed him. She simply answered, "Good morning Ronnie. Yes, I did. Come lets have breakfast. Aunty Mo gave it to us long back."
"Oh let's eat up soon then. We need to talk to Da Nuru about going back to the city. Now that the wedding celebrations are over, let's see if he can help us in moving back." Ronnie told her.
Jayne nodded her head and replied with a short, " Okay."
