Chương 10: Confession

"So, my husband….?"

Jayne paused to see his reaction.

Ronnie froze on hearing her.

"Hu-hu-husband? I'm sorry Jayne. I-"

"Ronnie why are you being sorry?" Ronnie was left hanging midway between his sentence by Jayne.

Before anybody began talking, their eyes blinked in mutual agreement, much before their fervent attempts to negotiate the inevitable with the ever insufficient, desperate words. Their eyes spoke the unspoken words.

Both of their hearts were racing heavily.

She continued, "Ronnie I don't know how far this is fitting. But I-" She couldn't finish her sentence.

Ronnie now took her hand and intertwined with her. He walked them towards the bamboo cot and made her sit on it.Then he kneeled on the ground beside her still holding her hands in his.

He looked into her eyes and said, "Jayne I don't even know what brought me to you. I believe the universe did it's magic in bringing you to me. But that was the biggest risk I took. I still feel guilty for handing you over to the medical practitioner. Even if a small thing went wrong, I would've lost my only love."

He shuddered.

Jayne tightened her grip around his hands and said, "Ronnie please stop it will you? How many times do you want to tell the same thing? I've told you already. I thank my stars for bringing you to me in spite of such a big disaster. You could've even died while saving me Ronnie." Jayne's eyes started welling up with tears now.

Ronnie reached out his hands to her gentle cheeks and wiped her tears and said. " Promise me this is the last ever time I'll see you cry? In turn I'll promise to be the most loyal husband at your service twenty four hours, seven days a week"

Jayne started grinning now wiping her tears and said, "You better keep up your promise alright?"

"I officially accept the job of Jayne's husband." Ronnie said grinning while stretching his hand out.

Jayne replied, "Dear husband, I know it'll be hard for us. But give ourselves six months time? I wish I could marry you with my memory back. But..." she trailed off.

"Jayne, Jayne my Jenny. Please don't stress yourself too much. You very well know you haven't recovered yet. Once we get back from here, the first thing we'll be doing is get you treated. Look for all possible treatment options to get back your memory. On the sidelines, we'll start searching information about you. Is this plan okay with you? Is that convincing enough my princess?" Ronnie replied.

Her eyes sparkled in the dimly lit room with the leftover tear drops making them even more attractive. Ronnie was lost in them.

Jayne said,"The only way I can repay you is by being your wife." She again had tears in her eyes.

"No Jenny. I want you to love me. With all your heart. I fell in love with you the moment I saw you. Even though you were unconscious at that time. An unknown pain spread through my body to see you like this. That is when I decided you are my woman and I'll save you even if the entire world is against us. But you don't have to necessarily love me as an obligation. The six months time we've taken is reasonable. So let's work on this as well. If it doesn't, you are free to decide the next course of your life. And then too, I'll support you no matter what." Ronnie said with sincerity written all over his face.
