Chương 7: The first ring: Spiderman
With all the monsters dead white-ish yellow rings float out of the monsters and Gang explained that when monsters died they released the halos which are for spiritual masters to absorb
"Should I take these halos?" Like in the manhwa Tang San is at the beginning like everyone very inexperienced but that doesn't mean that John was nor did it mean that John wasn't going to show off a bit
"Even if they were useful halos you couldn't absorb them San. You see only the spiritual master which lands the last blow killing the monster can absorb its ring and one more thing no you can't absorb all halos. When spirit masters cultivate they cultivate up to a certain level naimly to the 9 grades above meaning from 1 to 10 then 11 to 20 and so on. But when they reach the 9 grades above they can't advance until they absorb a spirit ring and once they do they will immediately go one grade above from 10 to 11 then from 20 to 21 anyways you get the gist" Saying that Gang has a bit of shock, surprise but also a tinge of happiness in his eyes as his disciple has a very capable friend but just when Gang was about to comment John started to walk away
"Oh, yea. Just to warn you the halos exist for 1 hour before disappearing and you can't absorb halos of a too big of age depending on your level" Waving his hand still with his back turned towards them John left a dumbfounded Gang and happy Tang San
Gang wanted to say something but couldn't as John touched on most of the topics but he soon came out of his stupor before taking a glance at John's disappearing back and thinking his words over and explaining what John missed out to Tang San
On John's end, he was walking through the forest until he felt he was a safe distance away from Tang San and Gang before a blood flower bloomed from above his pelvis region and more on his waist
Soon 4 long bright red tentacles came from his back and John's right eye became black as night with red veins glowing in the darkness alongside the now crimson red pupil
If a warrior looked straight into John's eyes right now they would feel an unparalleled bloodlust alongside unmatchable gluttony as per his Ghoul bloodline and probably the fact that he has Rize's kagune
Right now John was sniffing the air as if an animal searching for it's praying and pray he found
John could sniff out all the monsters in a 2 km range but it was very confusing as the smiles all mixed together
The smallest from different plants, animals, monsters as well as the residual smells from the past were all mixing together making it hard for John to distinguish them all but he strained all his senses from smell to sight to hearing to taste to skin feeling and all the rest
After a couple of minutes, John managed to track down 7 monsters that would fit his spider so he sped up and began his first real hunt as a Ghoul
The first monster was a silver-colored snake which was dozens if not hundreds of meters long and every now and then a red scale could be seen on its silver body witch glittered under the sun it looked a bit majestic but to John, it was irritating as the sun was reflected into his eyes
Honestly, John didn't care about the names all that is sufficient for him is to know what to hunt and kill
For John, there was no need for sneak attacks so he just jumped straight at it and one hit killed it well technically 4 hit killed it
2 tentacles went towards its eyes and stared at them while from the other 2 one went around its neck while the other entered thru the mouth and exited from the back of the skull
All in all, it was a gruesome and bloody deal where probably most people young or old would barf at the sight but for John there was nothing
Yes John is a reincarnation and yes he was human before with his moral standings and support but now he is a Ghoul and to survive the past 6 years he killed humans so at doing something like this he won't even blink
Soon a purple halo meaning that it is a 1000 year monster but it has a very powerful presence meaning that it would soon become a 10 000 year monster
John inspected the halo for a while before dismissing it and going towards the corpse which he began to frantically devour and he felt something inside of him increasing as he ate
In the past, John made a wish to be able to eat essence monsters instead of human meat but until now he had to eat humans because of 1. His parents were normal wandering merchants so they didn't need to know where a spirit forest was and as for his time in the orphanage, he severely doubts that any of the people in the city knew where a spirit forest was and if they did the point 2 came into play 2. He was weak as fuck how could he a child without an awakened kagune or awakened spirit survive in a spirit forest but if that isn't inuf 3. He recently learned the placements of most spirit forest and would you know it most towns build away from the forest so the trip to there would be impossible for a child John
Those are the reasons he had to use schemes and half-assed awakened ice spirit (Imagine pseudo super Saiyan but instead replace the super Saiyan with John's ice spirit) to survive and eat humans
But now he was powerful enough and had enough information to eat things besides human meat as for why he ignored the spirit ring well because he felt it wasn't that powerful enough and for why he ignored the increasing feeling well he thought it was his mission because he had only eaten humans until now and yet at this moment he was eating a spirit monster for the first time so he was feeling an increasing feeling
Finishing his feast John continued his hunt and soon met a plant essence monster or rather his next target
The monster was like around green ball with tiny legs below it and a shell with numerous spikes which glowed with an ominous green meaning it was probably poisoned
Seeing the plant John retracted his rinkaku and activated the kokako so the tentacles retreated and instead of them a blade came from below his shoulder plate and spiriaclly went around his right arm before becoming a big and long single-edged sword
Jumping up above it John sliced down with his right hand and split the monster into two halves
Pulling his hand out John retracted the kokako and activated the rinkaku it was a bit of a tiresome process but worth it as John could activate all of his kagune at once and keep them active at the same time but the ukaku would drain his stamina, the kokako would slow him down and the Pikachu doesn't have enough firepower so it's better to just activate the rinkaku
That being said soon another purple halo appears and John examined it as well but it was not up to standard so he tried to eat the corpse only to almost puke
(Note to self don't eat plant essence monsters) After half an hour John calmed down and somehow managed not to puke as it tasted worse than human food before heading towards his next victim
Traveling for a while John observed his surrounding admiring nature and the forest the animals and all other things too bad that it will all soon be ruined and turned into a bloodbath
Before long John arrived at his destination and sensing the monster John decides to use the strategy of bush camping in front of a cave
It didn't take long for an 8 legged creepy crawly to come out of the cave one long hairy leg at a time
Now in full view it is a relatively small spider being only 2 meters in height, 7 in length and around 8 in width while having a tarantula-like appearance besides the golden head and silver striped legs while the torso was a combination of silver and gold while what really stands out are its red hair among the gold and silver body
John was excited but could feel it's pressure it was definitely a 10 000 year monster and a recently promoted one as the pressure wasn't that great or controlled
Being a Ghoul had many advantages one of them being that you can absorb spirit halos of far greater capacity and John himself can absorb up to 11 000-year-old spirit halos but that ability will slowly become obscure the greater the level of your cultivation was and this spider seemed to be below 11 000 years old
Knowing that this time he is in for a rather tough fight to be had John decided to do the sensible and honorable thing to do that is activate the UK followed up by a sneak attack from behind with blood spikes and so before long 2 blood red wings sprouted from his back and along the active rinkaku make him look like a bloody angel of death but he didn't have time to be a narcissist so he proceeded with the plan
But after the attack, the spider was still alive and boy was it pissed that somebody attacked it from behind so it rushed at John
Seeing this John feed it a face full of blood spikes before it died from too much damage taken just a few meters before John
(Well that could have gone better) Not bothering about the bloodied corpse in front of him John sat down in exhaustion
The Kakadu is a great kagune witch is primarily used in long to medium range fights but because it has to harden to fire the projectiles it is very hard to fight in close quarters but it is possible the real problem is it drains the stamina like crazy meaning the shorter the fight the better and for John who for the first time activated and used his Kaku that was an even more tiresome process that is also the main reason he kept the rinkaku active
Getting back up John retracted the Kakadu and rinkaku he saw a pitch black halo that radiated pressure which he inspected later absorbed it in a matter of minutes gaining himself 2 OP as fuck skills
Poison create: Can produce poison from the teeth and grants the ability to mix poisons or create an original one while also granting immunity to all common and self-created poisons
Now this is an awesome ability which opens the doors to so many others and especially for the Tang Sect as they deal in secret weapons so what better secret weapon other than poison
Sticky silk: Can produce very sticky silk from the tip of the fingers witch only the producer can touch without getting stuck to it
And with this John is golden as he can just stick his opponents with the silk before biting and poisoning them but there is another awesome thing his spirit armor is like a chitin glove with spikes at the ends of the fingers giving him another weapon
Being done with the absorption John goes ahead and eats the spider again giving him the feeling that something is increasing inside of him and this time he knows it isn't his imagination
After his meal, John sat down and pondered about what this feeling may be so after minutes of nothing he began to move and activated his rinkaku before a couple of meters later he suddenly came to a stop
(Wait for a second! The rinkaku what is it made out of? RC of course and how does somebody become a kakuja? By increasing their RC cells! That's it my RC cells are increasing!) Coming to this conclusion John begins to ponder why this is happening before shrugging it off and attributing it to the Administrator
Now with double the motivation of increasing his RC cells and ring age, John moves out creating a blood bath and a legend in the spirit forest
He massacred until next morning and added 7431 years to his ring while also expecting a boost in his RC but he did massacre around 25% of the spirit forest to achieve that and it sounds small but that is like a whole town of people is suddenly gone if we compare it to something
When morning came he went for a bath in the nearby lake and washed himself and his clothes clean from the blood and the dirt well mostly the blood and retracted the rinkaku
Finishing his scrubbing John went where he left Gang only to see Tang San in the front seat of a carriage with Gang in the back it seems he hasn't waited for long so John decides to prank him
Activating his 2 ability John slings a strand of silk to a tree branch before carefully descending the silk, coming behind Tang San in an upside down spider-man like fashion
"Boo" John lean's near Tang San's ear and lightly whispers bit that scared the shit out of Tang San who jumped from fright before he looked towards John
"Don't scare me like that! And where were you? Did you get your ring?" At first, Tang San was angry but soon he bombarded John with questions
"If you ask me like that I am gonna blush it is like we are newlyweds and you are the wife as for the questions I was in the forest and do you fucking see me right now you know I don't know magic so how can I do this so do you think I got my ring?" As John was talking he made facial expressions first it was a shy one with a blush when answering the first question it was a deadpan expression and for the last question he made a disgruntled and 'Isn't it obvious' expression all the while being upside down and Tang San was collecting tick marks on all sides of his forehead as he collected them as a hobby
"So how did your hunt go?" Tang San wanted to lash and reprimand his friend who just dropped from the string into the carriage but when the heard his question an apologetically smiled to the sleeping Gang before starting to narrate his tale while they were moving towards the city
