Octo swiftly advanced towards the pillar. He was beginning to activate his brawler aura for extra damage per second, when a text message appeared on his interface.
Knox: Wait! I'll come out and help your party if you promise me one thing...
"Why are you typing your message? This is suspicious." Octo questioned as a sneer appeared on his face.
Knox thought that face looked very ugly at that moment, but held herself back from commenting so. She was still a newbie, she didn't want to get player killed her first 15 minutes into the game.
At this moment Steina swiftly flashed out of view, and reappeared in front of their parties hotheaded brawler elf.
Her no nonsense attitude greatly impressed Knox, and even reminded her of a certain someone... It's better to not think of that person, Knox decided.
"If you come out peacefully, we shall abstain from fighting." Her twin drills bounced as she talked, it was kind of cute.
After almost a minute had passed and the party was getting fed up, a small shiny figure appeared from behind the pillar in question.
A full suit of armor covered that person from head to toe, their image the very embodiment of a 'Knight in shining armor'. Light silver armor almost white in color adorned the figure with golden accents on the edges of the full plate mail suit of armor. Two winged ornaments protruded from the sides of the visored helmet. On the visor's edges there was a light gold colored accent that was barely discernible to the eye.
Protruding from the child's back was two small chibi light silver hued wings. Whether they were a cosmetic that was applied or not was not entirely apparant.
Steina's mouth dropped in shock. Was this really a kid? This kids race was...unfathomable good luck on their part. Perfect for the mission they would soon need to embark on. Why would she need a holy silver dagger when she could take ou- I mean a divine player and blast demonic spawn to smithereens without lifting a finger?
Octo looked Knox up and down a few times a smirk appeared on his face before saying
"I can see this little guy has got some money."
Grettil started to squeal excitedly like a fangirl who had just seen her favorite boyband upclose.
"Whats wrong Grettil?" Asked O'Connor, clearly baffled at his friends uncharacteristic hysteric behavior.
"Ang-...Angel race! That player has a angel race character! Do you know how OP we would be if they joined our party. They have a passive skill to boost party members holy and light magic by a whole 50%!" Grettil exclaimed as her avatar looked like it had begun to start hyperventilating.
O'connar turned to look at Knox, in the little chubsters eyes a sparkle effect had suddenly appeared.
"Really? This shrimp is that valuable just by standing next to us?" Octo asked seriously. A sharp glint appeared in his eyes but was gone within seconds.
No one noticed it except Knox.
She felt a shiver go down her spine.
'It's just a game, stay calm...' She thought to herself. Surely her race wasn't that amazing. After all, she had signed up with extra money and questions to get a character perfectly suited for her that should somewhat reflect what she was like in real-life.
She knew from the accident that had happened that she was not that great a person, nor that talented.
Perhaps before that incident she could be described as angelic, but afterwards no one knew better than she herself how much of a social pariah she had become.
The rest of the party had all walked over by now to stand and group up in front of the apparently "angelic and rich" shiny kid.
Knox; I am new I just started the game...I am probably not a high enough level yet to help you guys out.
The group looked to Caldo and then Steina, waiting for their leader and co-leaders say in the matter.
Well everyone except Octo, he was currently ogling Knox's avatar at the moment. Thinking of something, he opened up a part of his interface and clicked on Knox's character.
"Hey guys not only is he a Angel race player, but his main class is Natural Summoner. Out of the thousands of summoners on this game there are only about 300 natural summoners at the moment." Octo declared as he explained the significance of Knoxs character build.
Caldo and Steina have each other a look and quickly walked to stand right in front of Knox.
Meanwhile this whole time Knox wanted nothing but to turn tail and run on her little legs away from these kids. She may be a kid herself as well but these kids were to much.
She had started this game to escape from her real life issues of cripplness and guilt.
She didn't feel comfortable joining these people.
That's right she shouldn't join these people. It would only bring then unhappiness. Along with herself.
Knox beat this frame of mind into herself for several seconds before being interrupted by a a barrage of friend requests.
Eep! Aren't I supposed to be ostracized and whatnot?
"Kid your joining our party and that's that." Caldo beamed before coming in to close a bear-hug on Knoxs much smaller frame.
'What? We just met!' This was Knoxs strongest thought at that moment.
"Accept the requests or else kid..." Octo threatened with a strange grin on his face.
"Welcome to the team!" Grettil and O'connar beamed at her in unison.
"Accept the friend request Knox, we don't have all day. We all have school tomorrow." Steina's monotonous voice sounded out last, but certianly not least.
Not knowing that this would certianly cause her immense grief in the future, Knox begrudgingly accepted the whole parties friend requests in quick succession.
After finally accepting the friends requests, Knox was about to sneakily log off, but to her dismay and confusion she recieved a party invite before accomplishing the task.
Sulk.
"Well aren't you going to accept Angel-kun?"
Grettil asked with the voice of a sweet natured girl.
More sulking.
Knox: Sure thing!
Knox accepted the party invite while internally crying why she must be besieged by others the moment she started the game. She hadn't even gotten to try any tutorial quests yet or speak to a npc!
Caldo let out a big grin. "Welcome aboard Knox, after a week in game you'll be able to join our guild! We even have a few members who are 13+, but you can't meet them for a few more years."
Caldo started to go on and on about how great their guild was.
Knox literally was about to cry in her dive-gear in the real world.
She may have been a social butterfly a little over a year and a half ago but she had barely spoken to anyone around her own age since that incident.
This was just too much of a mental overload for her poor self!
So....
I'm going to try and publish for this story once a week starting as of this chapter, lemme know what you guys think.
