[Arin POV]
Sigh… I wonder if Daniel is doing anything right now? The last I heard of him was just after Viscount Khardin's speech… he hasn't signed up as an Adventurer, right? Otherwise he would be here with us.
This exploration is actually very boring. There's nothing for us to do. Arkan, Bork and I had already wiped out all the beasts in the area, which means that nothing is threatening us anymore. If that's the case, then why do we need 400 people?
The past few days have been very strange. Every night, the water in that oasis would disappear like it was never there in the first place. However, it's plain to see that there is water there when we arrived.
So who is taking the water away? Is the Goddess unhappy about this exploration? Are we encroaching on her territory too much?
Viscount Khardin is also strange. The first day, he was still fine. By the second day, he had become very paranoid.
Before we left Border Town, he had told my party and I to regularly update him on the surroundings and the beasts' behaviour. Yet he acted as if he had never said anything like that! Like he just didn't want to speak to us! What's wrong with him!?
We're here doing the work he's assigned us – granted, we are taking quite a hefty payment – and he just ignores us?
Sigh… I really wish Daniel was here. If he was here, he would be able to liven up the situation with his characteristic idiocy. I wonder when I started to get so interested in him? This is the first time in my life that I've wanted to stay with someone of the opposite gender.
Anyway, Daniel is weird by his own right. Whenever I stick close to him, he always has a look of reluctance on his face, as if he wants to get away. Yet his body is doing the exact opposite! He even takes the chance sometimes to feel me up. He thinks I don't notice, but I do!
There was that one time when he asked me about my age. As a female elf, I'm naturally concerned about how people perceive my age; especially when it's someone I like.
(A/N: this 'like' is a good impression, not romantic like.)
He dared to say I was an old hag! I was very disappointed. I thought that, if there was anyone who could look past age, it would be Daniel. After all, he seems so mature despite his young stature.
And it turns out he's only 14! After that, there was no way I could stay mad at him! He's just a precocious little child, who has a severely underdeveloped EQ.
So adorable!

[Daniel POV]
*sneeze*
'Who's thinking about me behind my back? If it's a female, then its fine. But if it's about killing Olaf and Khardin, then please stop thinking!' (Daniel)
Sigh… I've become really paranoid these past few days. After that bloodbath of a night, the entire exploration group started backtracking to Border Town. Unfortunately, the water at the oases have been stolen by yours truly.
That meant that there was no extra water! Luckily, there were some Water magicians among the group, and they exhausted their mana providing cooking, drinking and washing water for 400 people.
But thanks to that, I have also received Water Magic LV2. It levelled up once because my derivative magic, Ice Magic, is already at level 3.
Speaking of water, I didn't drain the third oasis that we went to. I really didn't want to drain any at all, since it was the natural habitat of Tri-horned Tigers and Blue-mane Lions. Without them, the entire ecosystem will end up unbalanced, and only Scorpions will be present.
By then, all the scorpions would need is a leader and a beast wave is formed. Something that I don't want to be a part of. I could very well just pack up and leave Border Town, but I'm worried about Arin.
Despite her clinginess, she's starting to grow on me. She kind of reminds me of my first wife, albeit not a yandere.
By the time we get back, I hope my zombie clerk has finished selling my weapons. Since Khardin is dead, he obviously won't be paying the reward for the quest. He also didn't bring any money with him. Even if he did, it would have been blown up already.
I need the money so I can leave Border Town. I really want to take Arin with me, but doing that would just endanger both her and me. She would get dragged into the trouble I caused, and I would have trouble saving and travelling with her.
It's best if we just part ways at Border Town.
By the way, I've also increased my level by a lot.

The LV60 Skeleton Warrior was the thing I created after exhausting all 20 of the Unique Mana Potions. It was also the final insurance against Olaf. Fighting alongside it, I could probably capitalize on any openings and kill Olaf. Well, it's not needed anymore, but it's still a good asset to have.

We are almost back at Border Town. Once we do get there, I'm definitely going back to the inn and sleeping for at least 12 hours. My paranoia is taking a severe toll on my wellbeing.
Is this what it feels like to kill someone and be on the run? While it wasn't my first time killing, it was my first time killing someone while being so weak. The sense of urgency and danger that washed over me at all moments was too much for me to bear.
I ended up going three days without sleep because of it. Once we get back to Border Town though, I can take off my disguise and become Daniel again.
It'll be disguise-ception! Who's the real me? Am I a paranoid disguising as Daniel, or Daniel disguising as a paranoid?
The legendary 20th chapter! Also the 8th chapter of the day.
Border Town arc will end soon!
