Chương 2: 1

Living in England, you get used to the rain pouring almost any time of day. The dull grey skies always adorned my mornings along with a cup of tea as a gaze out the window. Living in a manor secluded within the grove of trees, far from the busy streets of the London capital, I yearned for exciting days to come so I can feel joy once more.

"Edward, it is time to train. Go and get Elizabeth."

I turned my head towards the source of the sound. Right on schedule, my mother stands at my door with that usual serious expression of hers. A small nod is what I gave her before I grabbed my equipment from my closet.

Walking along the spacious marbled hall, I turned my attention to the different art pieces displayed on the walls. Don't we have too much of these? I never really had the interest in art or poetry.

Reaching the end of the hall where an ornate white door stood proudly, I knocked three times on its wooden surface before turning the knob. Surely, there inside is my dearest little sister embroidering away by the windowsill, rain still pouring down outside.

"Lizzy, Mother calls for us. It is time to train."

She lifted her head and her emerald like eyes met with mine. A frown immediately formed on her adorable face with a sigh.

"I don't want to! I don't want to train and be a scary wife to Ciel!" She protested.

Ah that damn Phantomhive brat. Because of that remark of his, Elizabeth became like this. She enjoyed sword training the most before but now she prefers to do more lady like things like the norm dictates.

"My lady, if I may be so bold, please listen to what the Marchioness told you. It is for Earl Phantomhive's sake and yours too. Didn't you want to be someone who can protect his lord?" Paula, her maid, asked her.

Elizabeth's eyes brightened and surely she immediately ran to her closet grabbing her sword and attire.

"Prepare to be defeated again, big brother!"

"We'll see about that!" I grinned while ruffling her hair.

She raced down the hallway with Paula running after her, calling her name to slow her down. I laughed a little seeing the usual spunk in my little sister's demeanor.

Walking along the marbled hall again, my gaze fell on the view outside of the huge arched windows instead of the paintings on the wall. The rain was still pouring down creating small and large puddles of water on the ground reflecting the still dull skies.

I stopped infront of one particular window where a small carving defaced the wood on the sill. A cloud with small raindrops falling from its bottom. I remembered how I got scolded along with the one who drew this. Chuckling a little at the sudden remembrance of the memory, I continued to make my way to the training hall.

Afternoon came faster that I thought. After taking a short bath to remove the smell of sweat from today's training, I decided to spend my time in the library to kill some time before dinner. I told a maid to fetch me there when the time to eat comes so I can have some peace and quiet.

It was still raining but not as heavy unlike in the morning. But it was still strong enough to soak through ones clothes if they stood out there for about a few seconds. Walking down the hallway again, I stopped at that particular window once more. I decided to just read a book here on this windowsill.

The sills of the windows in the manor are large and spacious enough for two people to comfortably sit on and chat, so reading there won't be a problem.

I sat there with one foot propped up, a huge cushion on my back, and a good book on my hand, I was ready to read. Despite the grey heavens, there was still more than enough illumination for me to read with ease without the help of a candlelight or lightbulb.

As I was slowly starting to get lost in the words of the book, I noticed something moved out of the corner of my eye. I closed the book with a snap and sat up straight.

I looked outside and surely there I saw a person in a light pink yet muddy dress walking, no, dragging her feet in a heavy manner as if she was in pain, her left hand clutching her right arm whose sleeve was stained with crimson. She looked up and I assumed she saw me because her gaze directly met with mine.

Wait, I know this person! I stood up and pressed my hand on the glass to take a closer look to confirm my thought. On the other hand, her expression remains the same. She looked down before falling face first on the ground.
