Chương 39: 1st Battle

After reaching home, Tao Xue decided to normally Cultivate for a while, before he started to polish his ability. Polishing and improving control is just like feeding a glutton. If you keep on giving food, it wouldn't be satisfied, rather, it will ask for more.

He thought that Cultivating side by side would also be a good thing. He sat down on his bed, and started absorbing the energy.

He kept absorbing it for quite a lot of time, and in the end, he had half the energy to promote to low 1st level, from newly upgraded level 1. It was sure that if he Cultivated for the same time tomorrow,, he would reach low 1st level. With this speed, he could reach the 2nd level in just a week. He had to make sure that this frantically fast speed of his doesn't go out of control, or else he would become a legend, and attract unwanted attention from everywhere.

At that point, he decided that it was the best thing to stop Cultivating, and focus on practicing his ability, Control.

He practiced and improved his ability, and he thought that it was improving at a very fast pace. He wanted to know more practical uses of his ability, and decided to do some practical training, but that was completely impossible, considering the situation. He had no place to practice, nor did he have any worthy opponents.

He thought about asking his master to fight with him, but even if he fought, he would be practically invincible, and fighting an invincible opponent is not something that would be counted as training.

He still wanted to train, but he was having difficulty thinking of training methods, so he asked his master, in the end, because he couldn't think of anything else.

When Master heard this, he was surprised, and also fired up, as he suddenly transported himself and Tao Xue into another world, which was like a pocket dimension. Master was very happy, and he looked like he was going to cry out of happiness.

Tao Xue was still confused, and he took a time to recover from the initial shock. It was pretty much obvious that one would get a shock when they are instantly transported to another place, and that too without any prior knowledge, and that too which looked like it was not even from the same era.

Master explained Tao Xue about the pocket dimension, as he said, "This is where you will practice from now on. The setup here is just like some sort of a game. Over here, you will be practicing solely your ability, Control. You will not be able to use any other Cultivation techniques, or any bonuses of Cultivation. Sue to your Mind Cultivator status, you have heightened senses and heightened reflexes, with a brain with awesome thinking capacity, but here, you will have all your other stats reduced to default. You will face enemies in the arena, and as you get stronger, so do your enemies. Fight like your life is on the line, as it will cause you no harm if you die, as you will not feel any pain, and will be "revived" instantly. Let's see you take on your first opponent right now!"

Tao Xue was both excited, and troubled. He was happy that he had got such a good chance to polish his ability, but he wasn't sure about the atmosphere of this place. He wasn't sure about the death part. If this was all just like a game, his opponents could also have blood lust, which Tao Xue didn't want to think about. He was unsure about fighting for a moment, but his hesitation was blown away, when he heard his master saying that he would get real rewards for winning. He didn't believe that he would get any rewards, so this was a plus pint for him.

He got ready, and stepped into a place, which was the arena. Suddenly, there was a voice that sounded in the whole place. It spoke in a neutral manner.

It said, "Opponent number 1 is approaching. Get ready."

Just as the voice said this, a young youth came out. He was wearing robes, and had a peaceful smile on his face. His yellow hair were neatly parted, and he had sparkling green eyes.

Just as the other youth appeared on the stage, the voice again sounded, as it spoke, "3...2...1...Fight!"

Just as the voice said "Fight", the young man leapt towards Tao Xue, and he was just a mere meter away from himself in an instant. Just as the man was about to kick, Tao Xue formed a wall to block it, which was just in time, or else that kick would have landed on his face.

Just as the man had kicked the wall, Tao Xue saw a bar on top of the man, which apparently was his health. This was surely like a game. There was a little bit of an empty space, which showed the damage he had inflicted.

From kicking that wall, the man had faced a strong rebound, and he wasn't in a position to attack at that instant, so he jumped backward, to avoid attacks. He didn't need to stay near Tao Xue, or il will be way more dangerous. Tao Xue , however, thought of this as a chance, as he leaped in the man's direction, and punched him with an oversized hand of energy.

The man was about to get hit, but he was barely able to dodge the attack, as he rolled backwards. He then jumped up, and stood up. If he was in a sitting position, it would be even more difficult more him to avoid Tao Xue's attacks.

Tao Xue was getting even more fired up, as he thought of a flashier, and without doubt, stronger attack, as he covered his hands full of dense and thick flames, and wildly swung them around at the opponent, who was barely able to keep up.

He was hit with a few of the punches, which resulted in his health decreasing again, and when he was hit by a full arm, his health was a little less than half.

Tao Xue saw that his opponent was startled, and had suffered serious damage, and he took the initiative to land a surprise attack, as he again started punching, and in between of the punches, he landed a kick, with a foot covered in spikes, right on the man's abdomen.

That also caused some health points of his to go down. The man was getting seriously hurt, but he wasn't easy to beat. He risked his life, as he jumped into the air, and punched the ground as he landed. The ground started lightly shaking, throwing Tao Xue off balance.

This was the man's chance, as he leaped towards Tao Xue, and appeared right behind him.

Tao Xue didn't know how fast he was able to reach such faraway places in such a short amount of time. Tao Xue didn't have much time, and he made an impulse decision, which was to to a raw brawl, and he layered himself in thick energy. The man was about to punch Tao Xue, as he swung his hand around, which landed on the man's neck, and fully finished him.

The bar that symbolized his health was completely empty.

Tao Xue slightly sighed, as he said, "Man, that sure was a tough fight!"
