Chương 16: Grandpa
The Patriarch addressed the young masters, "After this season of the Academy ends, you'll all start the training with me and the others. I know one of the elders of the Academy, who said that he would consider making the one of you with the most talent his disciple. Getting the chance of becoming a disciple of the elders of the 4 Seasons Academy is a very prestigious honor. First of all, I'll tell you the schedule that we are going to follow. After coming from the Academy, you would have a rest break for roughly around 1 time. Afterwards, you will train with us for 2 times, for 1 time at first, after which you will get another rest break of 2 cups of tea, after which the practice resumes for 1 time. After the practice, you will fight each other for one incense stick for each fight, and then head back to your respective houses."
After he said this, he looked at the children, whom each had their own various expressions and reactions. Tao Xue was totally depressed, as he wanted free time, not more practice time. After being locked up in the 4 Seasons Academy for 4 times a day, according to him, he didn't want, or as the matter stands, even need to practise anymore. It was enough trouble going to the academy and dealing with all sorts of jerks, but training at his home, with his family members was a whole bigger nuisance. He had started regretting getting himself into such a well-known academy. Other than that, Da Xue was excited, as well as another cousin, Li Xue. The other two, Yu Xue, and Zhi Xue, were a bit scared at the idea of all this extra training.
The idea that he had to train even after school was over made Tao Xue quite a bit depressed. As the hormones of depression grew in his body, his personality drastically started changing. H e had come to a conclusion that the previous him would never had, even if it meant death. He had decided that he would work in a part-time job after school! He had found out that having a job would be beneficial for him, as he could skip training, and also earn some decent money, which would help him in the long run. He had decided to put a board about him seeking a job outside the gate of the 4 Seasons Academy, so that a lot of people could see it.
After the Patriarch had explained everything, the young masters, the elders, and the Patriarch, all took off towards their houses. Just as Tao Xue was out of the house, his grandpa tagged along. He was also pretty excited to hear about his grandson's first day in the 4 Seasons Academy. As Tao Xue saw his grandpa, he smiled, and walked towards him.
He said, "Grandpa, I'm certainly not on board with this kind of training, so if you could somehow convince grandpa Patriarch to lower the training time, and increase the time of our breaks, I might consider giving it a shot."
Even his grandpa couldn't help but smile after hearing Tao Xue's reply. It was amazing that Tao Xue could so casually say 'I MIGHT CONSIDER giving it a shot.' even when he was offered such an exceptional opportunity, and didn't even consider the opportunity as something worthwhile. While some people, rather, most of the people would say that this kind of attitude wasn't correct, it rather felt surprising to the people close to, and those who knew Tao Xue.
As he walked forward, Tao's grandpa simply said, "You know, Xiao Tao, if the Patriarch hears what you said, he'd be very pissed off. Anyone would... You don't seem to take anything seriously, so that wouldn't count as a plus-point, and try to hide that fact from important people, such as cousin Patriarch, or any important person from the 4 Seasons Academy. After people get to know you, they wouldn't find you to be suspicious, or indifferent, but the first impressions will tend to be negative, so you shouldn't show this side of you often to important people, got it. Well, after we reach home, your mom and dad would also be there by now, you could tell me about what happened at school today. The first days tend to be very important. You meet new classmates, who will become future allies, and your teacher, who will become your guide for the year. Other than these people, you might not have met anyone of high posts, so your day must have gone great."
Just as the Finances Elder had finished speaking, Tao Xue spoke up,"Well, about the teacher, he was pretty much a sore looser, who got ticked off just because i drew a doodle of him in my notebook, and asked a few questions. About my classmates, I haven't gotten to know any of them properly other than my pals. You said that we wouldn't meet any important officials, but you were wrong, grandpa, we met the Vice-Principal. I was with Ju bro and Ling bro all the time, and they got caught by the Vice-Principal trying to prank him and doing sort of stuff like that."
After Tao Xue's grandpa heard about the teacher, a chill ran through his body, but when he heard about the Vice-Principal, his heart froze. He couldn't move an inch!
Tao Xue continued, "Well, it wasn't me who was caught by the Vice-Principal, so that doesn't matter."
After the Finances Elder heard this, the ice that was frozen around his heart suddenly melted, making him able to move like a normal person, giving him a relaxing feeling.
Tao Xue again continued, " Well, about the other stuff that happened at school, and about the form that we were given, I'll talk about that at home, or else I'll have to say the whole thing again for mom and dad, and if my luck is bad enough, I'll have to narrate the whole thing to each of them separately, which is not something I'm looking forward to, as I've already told the whole thing to brother Da, and grandma, both separately. Anyways, let's head home!"
