"Doctor Ling."
"Doctor."
"Huh?"
"Yeah…"
When doctors walked out of the door that led to the corridor in the operating area, the patients' families in the waiting area came forward and surrounded them. Old Xu's wife and son were moved to the front like an unwanted parcel being passed around.
"The surgery is successful. You can watch from outside the ICU after the patient wakes up." Ling Ran gave a simple statement and showed a smile befitting societal norms to comfort the patient's family.
From Ling Ran's observation, most doctors would not smile in this situation. Having a stern expression while talking to the patients was the norm. Ling Ran agreed to this strategy, but based on his personal experience, a general, polite, and pure smile could also make people feel at ease.
The people in the waiting area outside the operating area needed to feel at ease the most.
