Chương 48: Mother in law and her doubts
While Tina was traveling, Fred was missing her very badly..she became his priority now and was always top in his thoughts..his mother being possessive of her son, didn't like this..she felt threatened and insecure of Tina. Fred was her only son, Tina seemed like a good natured person, but she had her own doubts..how would things be post marriage..how would Fred behave.. would he love and care for her as much as he does now..she didn't give voice to these thoughts but she was quiet concerned..even she neglected her parents when she was in love..this is the cycle of life..she thought.. but once she had Fred..he took the front seat in her train of thoughts. at the same time she realised the importance of her parents.. and always kept in touch with them... parents of a daughter in India take it for granted that post marriage, the daughter would be more responsible for her husband and in-laws, but parents of sons want both son and daughter in law to make them their priority.. though they can let their son commit mistakes..they expect their daughter in law to behave with utmost perfection..people perhaps know that it is selfish..but this is how things are..
Fred's mom was speaking to Fred's dad and saying, 'why is Tina traveling so much? is she above Fred's level?' he said,' what are you saying..he clearly said that she is the marketing head and he is the sales head..both are at the same level..' she said, ' then why didn't Fred go to Zurich?' he said,'probably he is not needed to go there..' she said, ' but why..I am scared that Fred and Tina will have ego issues post marriage..' he kept the newspaper he was reading down and said,'ridiculous..why are you thinking like this..this generation is quiet advanced in their thoughts.. and Fred is not a timid man that he would be threatened by his wife's success..' she said,' you don't know this because I never worked..' he said, ' it was your call dear..but we never raised Fred to think like that..he treats women with respect..' she said,' I hope things don't go wrong and even I like Tina..but why did he fall for such a career girl.. would she take care of Fred and the home once they get married..' he said,' dear..are you jealous of the attention Fred gives to Tina? I can clearly feel my mother's tone of disapproval for you in your voice now...' she said, ' why would I be jealous.. I want them to be together..but..why bring your mother up now... whatever I did..she was never satisfied..she wanted a north Indian daughter in law and she always disliked me..' he said,'don't say that.. I am sure she will be stirring in her grave now.. give a chance to Tina.. don't kickstart your relationship with her in a doubtful way.. you are an amazing wife and a mom..be a mom to your daughter in law and treat her as your own daughter..dispense all negative thoughts from your head..'
She couldn't talk back..he locked the conversation very nicely..he praised her and advised her at the same time..
