Chương 4: The Unexpected Date

'Tina, come to my cabin once you finish your lunch' boss said. She nodded, ate her lunch and entered his cabin. 'Sit, give me your sales update' Tina opened her laptop and presented the figures. She said that she would be over shooting her target by 20%. This was expected anyways, then the boss said, 'I need your support, can you contribute 10% more? There is a deficit from other members, I need you to compensate it,' Tina looked questioningly at her boss and said 'What is there in it for me?'.. Boss didn't expect this question..she never asked such questions, she would say that she would try and always pull out extra and support her team. This was the first time she asked.. he was in deep thought... 'let's go for dinner and discuss..' Tina didn't expect this outcome, she said 'Boss, it's okay.. You can tell me if there is nothing.. I will try to do it.. Its just that I have been compensating a lot for the team, but in turn I am not getting anything extra.. Though I am performing better than my male Coulleagues my career advancement is nothing, no major pay hike.. this was the same in my previous organisation.., 'Boss was taken aback, he said' Tina, I can understand your feelings, but I should align with the company policy and I am answerable to my boss.. Unfortunately my boss is old school.. But still he doesn't take your effort lightly, he recognises your talent, I can't promise much, but I need to make one suggestion to you.. ' she was waiting for him to continue..he smiled and said' you need to act like a team person, mingle more with others, be a team player, I know you're an outstanding achiever, but collaboration with your team and understanding your peers will help you more.. Don't you agree? ' she was stunned with this suggestion..' Boss.. I... ' he smiled and said ' there is a team dinner tonight, I never pushed you to come because I knew you didn't like to mingle much, but today I am insisting.. '
