Mopsa walked outside. As she fastened her jacket. She watched Gale practicing as he swings a weighted training sword. As Zephyr walked back from town, carrying the supplies that Mopsa. She walked over to her and grabbed the supplies. Mopsa asked her to head in and warm up as Mopsa looked to Gale.
Gale glanced over at Mopsa. "Is something wrong, Madam Mopsa?"
Mopsa smiled as she walked back inside, "No, just hoping that you can finish up as I need you to head back into town. I would have asked Zephyr, but the job requires more muscle power."
Gale sighed as he put the blade against the wall and headed inside. "What exactly do you need me to do?" Questioning her motives as Mopsa placed the supplies on the kitchen counter.
Mopsa stopped as she laid her hands on the counter. "I need you to go help the boys in the market. They need someone who is strong and capable. I know you wish to continue training with the weighted sword, but there is so much you can do before it becomes useless." Mopsa explained to Gale. Gale turned away as she sighed. "Look, I know you think you are not strong or have the strength, but that mentality is what is holding you back. When you came here, I could see a scared child. Now you need to see for yourself what you can do."
Gale closed his eyes as he walked out the door. Zephyr clenched her hands close to her chest as she watched him leave. Will Gale be alright? He has become more agitated with your methods?"
Mopsa sighed as she leaned on the counter, looking at the door. "He will be. Gale is a lot like you, but with him, it is his lack of believing himself that he has the strength to do something."
Zephyr sighed as she looked at Mopsa. "May I ask a question?"
Mopsa smiled as she turned to her. "Your voice is sterner, and you can now summon your weapon much more smoothly than when you got here." Zephyr smiled as she nodded at Mopsa analyses. But anyway, ask your question."
Zephyr nodded at Mopsa. "Thank you. When will we be leaving your company, or is that up to us after we finish our training?"
Mopsa grinned, "Oh that—yeah, You two will be here until after the new year."
Zephyr went pale as she looked back at the door. "I think Gale will be none too pleased to hear that."
~
Gale sighed as he shivered in the cold. "I hate the cold, and what is that woman planning anyway?" Gale muttered in displeasure. As he walked over the men. "Hey, Mopsa sent me? She said you needed help?!"
One of the men looked over to see Gale walking over. "Ah, you must be Gale then, names Cedrick, please to meet you," Cedrick answered, as he extended his hand to Gale.
"Pleasure," Gale grumbled as he shook Cedrick's hand, "Now what are you all doing?" He asked as he looked over the market. Seeing boards stung across the area.
Cedrick smiled as he fixed his jacket tighter. "Well, they are getting ready for the festival in the next while. I think its Augra the fifteenth—Yes, that is correct, but anyway I need you to help with the lifting. I am only here by the king's orders to supervise the construction." Cedrick happily explained to Gale.
Gale stared at him as the other men walked over, asking Cedrick who Gale was. Cedrick explained who he was before giving them their orders. Then turned to Gale, asking him to move the planks to the other side. Gale lifted four times as much as anyone else but paid no heed to his own prowess.
As the day dragged on, one of the men walked up to Gale. "I didn't think you were that strong young man?"
Gale raised his brow at him. "I am just doing what Cedrick has asked of me, plus I am carrying the same amount as you guys are."
The man turned Gale to one of the other men as he carried three boards, and the other only two, "Young man, you carry four times the amount than them. And they are beast folk, some of the strongest people I know of? Where you are doing four times the amount and your—what? Half-human, half-demon?"
Gale stared in astonishment as he looked upon his shoulder. Seeing the twelve boards resting on his shoulder. "I-I never noticed."
The man patted him roughly on the back. "Well, keep it up. We might finish early this year with your help. Keep up the good work. Your strength is needed."
Gale stood still for a while longer as he could see how much strength he had. Yet never realized he had it. He brought the wood to the other planks. When the sound of a scream caught his attention. He looked over to see a burning building off in the distance. The men stopped as they rushed to the fire. Gale followed. They reached the building to hear a woman screaming for her child as she was held back. Gale looked at the burning building.
The flames licked the air as he listened in horror to the woman's screams for help. Gale clenched his fisted and ruched in. Cedrick ran over and began to cast water magic to quell the fire butt was of no use. He looked around when a man told him that Gale ran in. Cedrick turned to the blaze as he swallowed in fear as he began to pray for the best.
Gale covered his face as the smoke-filled the building. He listened for the child to make a noise. "Can anyone hear me!" Gale called out, hoping the child could hear him. The sound of coughing caught his attention to the child's location. Gale rushed to where the sound came from and found the child cowering in the corner. Gale outstretched his hand to the child's as he smiled. "It's going to be alright, take my hand. I will get you out of here. I promise."
The child stared at Gale before grabbing his hand. Gale heard the building creak as boards began to fall. Gale pushed the child away as he put himself between the child and th falling planks. The child shook off Gale's actions and looked at him, seeing him hold up the building as he tried to save the child's life.
Gale looked at the child's horrified expression and tried to lift the boards, highed, "Get through, I will be right behind you!" Gale watched the child as he crawled through. Gale turned and moved back as to let go of the boards.
He turned around to see the child back into him as a man walked over to them. He was engulfed in the flames as he walked closer. "Give me the child, boy. He is my prey." The man's voice was hoarse and scratched the air.
Gale summoned his weapon and readied himself, pulling the child behind him. The man howled as he charged at Gale. Gale blocks the attack with his sword as the man's hand were like steel, grabbing the blade. Gale shoved the man back, giving the distance between the man and the child. The man hissed as Gale could feel the child gripping his clothes, shaking in utter fear.
Gale pulled one hand back and touched the child's shoulder, "Its going to be alright, you have the strength to fight through this. Just be strong, and everything will be okay." Gale reinsured the child as his blade began to glow purple, changing form.
The blade became detailed with jagged ripples in the metal. Whale, the edge straightened and had a purple sheen. The guard smooth with hints of marbling in the detail work. While the hilt was wrapped in worm leather and the pommel was a simple ring with a purple cloth tied on it.
Gale kept his focus on the man as he charged for another attack, but he was able to dodge and strike down the man. Gale could feel the power he had as his blade cut threw the man. Sending bolts of lightning threw the air, incinerating the rest of the man's body as he screamed.
Gale took a deep breath as the flames disappeared. The child stared at Gale in awe. Gale turned to the child and smiled. "Lets go to your mother, she is waiting outside for you."
The child's eye lit up as they nodded following close behind Gale. Once outside, the woman rushed to her child as they embraced one another. The woman looked up at Gale, who was bleeding from the head. "Thank you. How could I ever repay you?" She asked.
Gale gently smiled at her, "Seeing you to reunited is more than enough for me. Besides, the man that was inside who was he?" He asked inquisitively.
The woman stared at him in horror, "Wait, what?" She went pale as the child looked away.
"He was called by me. I tried using fire magic like I was taught in school, but something went wrong, and he came forth." The child explained.
Cedrick walked over, seeing Gale's blade, then looked at the child. "What were the words you used, young one?"
The child stared at Cedrick, "Ignus Flariosa, I got spooked by our cat when trying to stay Flarous."
Cedrick went pale, "Well, at least Gale was here to save you, those words cast the spell, fire devourer. It can only be defeated by lightning magic, no other magic and extinguish its flames until it devours its prey and master." The child went pale as he listened to Cedrick, but Gale put his hand on his shoulder and smiled, trying to re-ensure them. It was okay. "Now Gale, who are you? As I have never seen a sword quite like yours."
Gale looked at the blade and noticed it was different. "Well, to be honest, I am the Ren-Ky warrior of strength. The lightning of strength."
Cedrick went pale as did the woman, "Wait, you're a Ren-Ky? But th-that doesn't make sense? The Ren-Ky's are a myth? A-a legend told to wee ones as to give them hope? You cannot be—" Gale unsummoned his weapon then pulled out an amethyst pendant.
Cedrick stared at it as Zephyr rushed over. "Gale! Are you alright?" As she ran over to him. Cedrick noticed a labradorite stone swaying from her kneck. "I saw smoked and rushed over to see if I could help. But it seems everything is fine." Cedrick grabbed the stone from Zephyrs kneck as she looked at him she summoned her claw gauntlets and raised them at him. "Hey, what is the big idea?"
Cedrick stared in amazement. "Fascinating, tell me, girl, are you the same as Gale here? A Ren-Ky warrior?"
Zephyr raised her brow at him, "Yes, the waters of knowledge? Why?"
Cedrick shook his head, "N-never mind, I must be going." Cedrick left without saying anything else, leaving Zephyr and Gale puzzled at his actions.
