Lance began to focus as Aaron watched him. His wings stretched out as Lance tried to feel the wind surrounding him. Scarlett walked over to see how Lance was doing as she sat beside Aaron.
"Aaron, how is Lance getting with his flight training?"
Aaron sighed, "Not too well, the boy is afraid of flying, or falling to his death."
Scarlett poured herself a tea. "Well, either he does it on his own, or I do it for him."
Aaron looked over to Scarlett, her face filled with frustration as she watched Lance struggle. He took a sip of his tea when a dragon flew over.
"Sir, the king wishes to speak with you about your grandson?"
Aaron clenched his teeth as he got up. "Very well." A light engulfed him turning him into a dragon; his soft green scales glistened in the sunlight. Spreading his wings, he looked back at Scarlett. "DO what you must, you and Lance are here on borrowed time as it stands."
Scarlett nodded as Aaron flew off. She turned to Lance and smiled as she put her tea down and walked over to where Lance was training. She walked up to him, grinning from ear to ear.
"Hey Lance, how is the flight training going?"
Lance looked over the edge of the cliff. "Not so well, I still cannot get my brain around to moving my own wings properly and—" Scarlett kicked him, sending him stumbling over the edge. He screamed as Scarlett squatted over the side, watching him.
Lance closed his eyes, wishing he could fly as his wings flew open, and he began to flap, stopping his descent. Scarlett smiled as she looked at him.
"Now that is progress."
Lance looked up at her and flew up, "Scarlett, that was not nice you could have killed me!?"
Scarlett smiled as she stood up. "Well, one way or another, you had to fly, or we could have ended up dead? Besides, you now know how to fly on your own?"
Lance went to argue when he realized what she had done. "This was 'kindest way' to get me to stop worrying, wasn't it?"
Scarlett turned away, still smiling, "Yes, sometimes the kindest thing is to push rather than let you figure out. Now that you are done, your grandfather has been summoned by the king. So, I would say you should—no, I have a bet?"
Lance looked at her in disgust. "what is it?"
Scarlett turned around. "I bet you can't keep flying until sundown? If you land, you have to do as I say for the next three weeks once we leave the Gormo Kingdom. And if you win, I will not bother you about your flying skills for three weeks, around the same time."
Lance stared at her, shaking his head as he looked up at the sky. "Fine, but I can only land to eat, go to the washroom and when I am talking to superiors. Got it?"
Scarlett sighed, realizing that he would need to do those things. "Very well, but you are to be in sight of me where I can see you."
They shook on it as another dracoman flew over. "Lance?"
Lance looked over to see a she-dracoman flying over to him. "Yes?"
"Lord Aaron wishes to see you; it's about your stay."
Lance looked at Scarlett, then to the she-dracoman. "Could you give her a lift since we are here together?"
She looked at Scarlett and nodded. "Very well, since you just started flying, it would be best that you don't land, even to eat or great elder's. Plus, you might want to figure out how to use the restroom as you will be forbidden to land for the rest of the day, and if you fail, you'll have repeat the process tomorrow."
Lance dropped his mouth at Scarlett began to laugh. The she-dracoman lifted Scarlett as she led the way.
Aaron waited as he looked over to see Lance flying. "Well, look at that. Your flying, what dod you do to make him fly?"
Scarlett curtsied at Aaron, "I just kicked him off the cliff." She smiled.
Aaron noticed Lance's unimpressed face. "Did Anne tell you what is expected of you now that you are flying?"
Lance sighed as he tried to bow. "Yes, and that Scarlett beat her to the punch as she made a bet with me, grandfather." Lance glared at Scarlett as she tried to hold her laughter.
Aaron glanced at Scarlett and smiled, "Very well, now the king has asked me to have you trained within the next year and nine months. Yet I will be leaving to see King Haru next month."
Lance whipped his head up. "Wait, you are going to see Gale's father?"
Aaron nodded. "Yes, we have a mutual agreement, but as things stand, use dracomen are going to aid them in the war against Demora. Uriel, the planetary spirit, has said that the one to stop all of this is coming in less than two years? I have no idea who this might be, but we shall find out when he calls once again."
Scarlett stared at Aaron in confusion. "Wait, who is this Uriel person?"
Aaron smiled, "Let me tell you the story about him then, Uriel was a boy born from Luntica before the world of Altora was created. The world he resided in was known as Drasonia, a world where dragons rain supreme. But a man named Azoth used a power to try and destroy the world into his image. Uriel fought him, but Lunatica told him if they were to fight, the world would be destroyed. Uriel told his mother that he was going to do this so that he could save the future from him and his tyranny. Lunatica watched as she readied the souls for the new world. The battle destroyed the planet and the sun leaving only the core of drasonia. Uriel won the battle and recreated the world we now know as Altora, named after his mother's mortal name, Altora Krisnik."
Scarlett and Lance looked at each other. "Wait, you mean to say that our late friend Lovell shares the same surname as the world spirit?"
Aaron nodded, "Yes, his ancestor had the taken up the name since he felt it suited him when he married Lunetta, the last known reincarnation of Lunatica."
Lance and Scarlett went wide-eyed as they looked at Aaron. "So, if Lance and I are hearing right its not taboo to marry the goddess's reincarnation?"
Aaron stared as them. "Who told you that? And yes, it is not taboo, never has been?"
Lance looked over at Scarlett, "Well, a young theyan named Fang, told us. Where our friend did some questionable things to stop loving the current reincarnation."
"This Fang person, who is his father?"
Lance winced as he looked away. "Azoth, just like our late friend Lovell."
Aaron sighed, "He must have gotten that from Demora. Where is Fang now?"
"We don't know Aaron, we all separated about a week or two after Lovell's death." Scarlett walked closer to Aaron. "Besides, we have more important matters to take care of."
Lance nodded as Aaron smiled. "You are right Miss De Rosier. Let us continue your training Lance."
