Intensely sharp sword auras suddenly surged out from Jian Chen as he raised his fingers and made a slashing motion in the air with his hand.
It was as if space was ripped apart by his sword intent and auras as it bombarded the cultivators that were around him.
"How is his sword intent this powerful with just a mere Energy Refining Realm cultivation level?!" yelled a young elite aghast as he was also affected by the sword intent.
"Just his sword auras alone could eliminate any Energy Refining Realm cultivators with ease, what more if he draws that sword of his?"
"His future in the path of the sword is virtually limitless!"
Cries of awe and wonder resounded in the audience and the arena as they watched and personally experienced the boy's prowess towards the sword.
Jian Chen remained in his spot as he continued to release sword auras towards all directions. In response to this, the elite participants of the tournament used their respective defensive abilities and techniques to withstand Jian Chen's attack.
Although many people tried to resist Jian Chen, a lot of them still fell from his attack as they were eliminated from the competition. They could only sigh bitterly in their hearts as they were sent out of the arena.
On Chu Feng's side, it was a bit more peaceful. Well, it was only peaceful for him, everyone around him was trying their hardest to survive as they ruthlessly struck out in desperation.
Even though he was in the middle of the battlefield, it was as if none could see him as he simply strolled around the arena that was akin to a walk in a park. No attacks or abilities landed on him, it was as if the fighters couldn't see him at all as they just went on with their own battles.
This wasn't a martial art or a mysterious skill that was passed down to him, instead, it was an accumulated experience from all the battles and wars that he had fought in his 'previous life'. From his time back in his previous life, Chu Feng learned this on his own. Unlike the usual use of releasing one's heavenly energy that was from within to the outside, Chu Feng instead harmonized his heavenly energy with the world's heaven and earth. By doing this, Chu Feng's aura would link with the aura of the heavens which then shrouds Chu Feng's aura. One wouldn't even notice that Chu Feng was beside him unless he was able to see him in front of his face.
Tian Long's eyes flashed as he watched Chu Feng himself 'go with the flow' with the heaven and earth and couldn't help but laugh. "This guy is really full of surprises."
Even Lin Hui Yin was surprised as she watched Chu Feng move unhindered in the arena, she couldn't help but reevaluate the young man.
It didn't take a long time before the battles between the arenas ended and the 100 participants were decided. Of course, Tian Long's five disciples were amongst the 100 ones that remained and they all drew the attention of the crowd, the higher leveled cultivators, and even the city lord himself.
Zhuang Yang, the Long twins, and Jian Chen all dominated their respective stages as they decimated fighters with higher cultivation than them one after another. They all drew the curiosity of the people as the spectators and even the other competitors wondered who they were and what their background was.
Although the city lord himself was also curious, he didn't do anything else except continue the tournament to its second phase.
He raised his hand and gestured in the air as a hundred arenas all converged into ten mini-stages that were bigger than before. He then said. "Since this city's tournament's tradition have been straightforward since it's founding, the rules of the competition shall remain uncomplicated as well. The one hundred of you will be split into ten groups and each group will have ten participants. On one's group, each participant will be facing each other and the one with the most wins will be the one that will advance to the next and final stage."
As he said this, he waved his hand and released his energy, covering the one hundred fighters and separating them into their respective groups. Chu Feng and the others, of course, didn't resist as the heavenly energy covered them, transferring them to their groups.
Who knew if it was luck or fate but all of them ended up in different groups.
Chu Feng, Long Wang, Long Xue, Zhuang Yang, and Jian Chen all looked at each other across the stage with a smile in their face.
Although they were brothers and sisters in the sect, they couldn't help but look forward to the next phase since they knew that they'll be facing each other.
...
Along with the Chu Feng and the others, the rest of the ones that remained were the elite of the elites. There were those that came from superior clans and families, powerful sects, influential organizations, and even vagrant and lone geniuses that remained. The audience was also taken aback due to the number of dark horses that were in the tournament, this especially included the Eternal Glory Sect's disciples.
The crowd was in a further clamor as they watched earlier how they basically dominated their respective stages, those with the same cultivation as theirs were trampled upon while those with higher cultivation were dealt with easily. The five of them had a glorious battle record as no number of enemies could handle them even if they were sieged by many foes.
"I hereby declare the second phase of the LightShade Tournament will now start!" said the city lord.
At once, the second phase started.
Chu Feng and the other's eyes all flashed with light as they all ascended their respective arenas, being the first in their groups to fight.
Tian Long and Lin Hui Yin stared at all of them through the mirror projection as they thought to themselves.
At Jian Chen's side, his opponent was a young genius that seemed to be 18 years old, he had a spear as a weapon as he took his stance and stared at Jian Chen with vigilance and caution. Jian Chen simply smiled and started unsheathed the Solar War-Blade that Tian Long had gifted him a while ago. (1.)
Only a small part of the sword had been unsheathed before the whole stage was surrounded by sword auras. They all converged and congealed innumerable formless swords that exuded a dangerous and piercing sword intent.
"{Sword Storm Barrage}!" yelled Jian Chen. The countless formless swords made up of heavenly energy all pointed towards the direction of his opponent. The intensity of the sharpness made Jian Chen's opponent lose his wits as he stared at what seemed to be his incoming death.
He knew that even if he squeezed all his strength and techniques to the fullest, he wouldn't even have a shred of a chance surviving this kind of attack.
Even Master realm cultivators would die in a blink of an eye if they dared receive this attack!

1.) Chapter 14.
______
So I forgot to continue the story in the author's note the last time. Without leaking too much(to respect the two parties) here's what happened:
Two of my friends were going out at the end of high school and I was closer with the guy. They broke up after a month+ I think? Without even noticing it, I actually wasn't able to talk with them for a while since then.
One day I bumped with the girl(also my friend) and I asked about some things.
