Chương 18: <Myth> How the Goddess of Love and the Goddess of Oracles and Forbearance Met (1)

Eolia, Goddess of Love and Tirna, Goddess of Oracles and Forbearance

Part 1

....

"Why isn't there anybody for me, Haerv?" Eolia whined. She placed her head on the table and groaned. "I mean, I'm the freakin' Goddess of Love. You'd think that I'd be an expert in this, right?"

Haerv looked at the goddess before him. He placed a cup of water next to her. "You can be good at advice, but not be able to use it for yourself," he said, lightly.

"Have you ever had that problem, Haerv?" Eolia looked up, hope in her eyes.

"No."

With her hopes crushed, Eolia banged her head on the table forcefully. "You know what this calls for?"

Haerv looked on with interest. "What?"

"Speed dating!" Eolia said. "I'm going to get married if it's the last thing that I'll do!"

Sighing, Haerv patted Eolia's back. "You try that. I'm going to continue baking my soufflé."

"Only you would have enough patience for that, Haerv!" Eolia called out as she dashed out of the store.

Haerv chuckled as he saw her leave. Then, he entered the back to continue baking.

"Was that Eolia?" G'vea asked, a speck of flour on her nose.

"Yes." Haerv wiped G'vea's nose. "You haven't made a mess of everything, have you?"

"Do you even know me, dear?" G'vea leaned in closer, "I'm the Goddess of Disorder! Of course I'll make a mess!"

Haerv sighed and indulgently smiled. G'vea giggled as she pulled Haerv further into the store.

......

Eolia was a goddess on a mission. She walked with forceful steps, her hand clutching the recent communications device that Kirna had made. She called them a 'Handy'.

Her Handy connected. "Tirna?" Eolia said, "I'm coming over." She disconnected the call before Tirna could answer, her face grim. "This is getting serious."

Eolia stood before Haerv's store. She called out for one of the service cars that Xerno, God of Movement, had made.

The service car slowed down and stopped before Eolia. "To Tirna's," she said, her eyes glued to her Handy.

"Of course, Ma'am," the centaur replied, his face bowed. One look at the Goddess of Love and he'd be a goner.

It took a few minutes for Eolia to reach Tirna's house. Giving the centaur his money, Eolia exited the car and strode to the front door. She knocked.

Tirna immediately opened the door, her face flushed. "E-Eolia," Tirna gasped. "You should have given me more time! I mean, of course my house is clean, but- um,"

"Move," Eolia said, pushing Tirna away.

Tirna stammered as Eolia walked further into the house. "Oh! I wonder how'd that dirty dish got there!" She snatched it, hiding it behind her back. "Oh!" Tirna quickly blocked the dirty clothes that were strewn all over the couch. "Uh, I was just about to fold these! You know, there aren't that many wrinkles when you lay them out first." She watched as Eolia went nearer and nearer to the kitchen. Tirna's face went pale. She hadn't finished cleaning up her latest disaster!

She scrambled over to Eolia and spoke so fast that her words were strung together, "I just had a great idea why don't we-"

"Why!" Eolia said, tears streaming down her face. Tirna looked on with a dumbfounded expression, and panic could be seen from her flailing arms.

"W-w-what's wrong, Eolia!" Tirna screeched. "A-a-are you h-h-hurt? Oh god, you're hurt, aren't you?" She looked around the room for her first aid kit before she grew exasperated and gave up. Tugging Eolia's arm, she spoke, "Let's go to Qori's!"

"That's not the problem," Eolia sniffled, big tears slowly rolling down her cheeks, "I'm single!"

"What?" Tirna was incredulous. "That's why you're crying?"

Eolia nodded. She used her arm to wipe her tears, but more continued to fall.

"That's it? I thought you were hurt!"

"B-but I am hurt! I hurt in here," Eolia pointed towards her heart. Tirna sank down to the floor.

"What happened this time?" Tirna sighed, looking up to Eolia.

Eolia pouted, "I want to get married!"

"Haven't you always wanted to get married?"

"Yes, but I'm serious this time!"

Tirna stood from the ground. "Aren't you always serious?"

"That's not the point! I'm so serious, that I'm going to," she lowered her voice to a whisper, "speed date."

Staring at Eolia in shock, Tirna was speechless.

"Yes!" Eolia declared, "I, the Goddess of Love, will speed date!"

"A-and you're serious this time around?" Tirna's voice cracked. "You aren't going to wait for that prince on a white horse that you're always going on about?"

"I can't keep waiting forever!" Eolia moved to sit on the couch, hugging one of the couch's pillows. "And actually," Eolia said, bending her head back to view Tirna upside-down, "can't you just scry me my prince charming?"

An uncomfortable expression flashed past Tirna's face. Quickly covering it up, Tirna said, "I can't do that, Eolia."

"Why not!" Eolia whined.

Tirna twiddled with her thumbs before discreetly staring at Eolia. 'Because I like you,' Tirna thought. She coughed, "I usually only scry for the King."

"But can't you just do this for me? This is really important for me!"

"N-n-no."

"Fine!" Eolia sprang up from the couch. She stomped her way towards the door, her hands in fists. Tirna began to panic before she made up her mind.

"Wait!" She ran to Eolia and grabbed her hand. "Uh... I-I'll do it!"

"Really?!?" Eolia turned around and hugged Tirna. "I love you so much!"

'Me, too," Tirna thought. She sighed, "Let's go to the scrying room."

..............

They stood before Tirna's scrying glass, smoke covering the floor. "What is it that you wish to know?" Tirna's voice broke the eerie silence.

"Who's my prince charming?"

Tirna sighed. "You can't ask me something like that!" She swatted Eolia's arm.

"Okay, fine. Who is my fated one?"

"You also can't ask something like that-"

"Then I'd rather not asked in the first place!"

Eolia stared at Tirna. Tirna stared back.
