I went to the bridge as the sun rose into the sky, painting it with streaks of pink and purple. Earlier than I expected, I saw a young teenage girl walking out of the forest.
Her hair was dull brown, and her eyes were frozen in fear. Although her movements seemed natural at a quick glance, if you looked closer, you'd realize that she was moving slightly stiffly.
"Can I help you?" I asked the teenager. I was surprised that this one had decided to move earlier than expected. Perhaps it simply thought that I wouldn't be here that day since I came after dawn and not before it like I usually do. Adding to that, they have probably noticed the forest's anger.
"Ah, I-the forests....I was lost....." she stuttered out, her lips moving animatedly.
"So it seems that you've found your way out?" I asked as she paused, a fourth of the way to the other side of the bridge and a few feet away from me.
"Y-yes," she replied, "I need to get to my family....they must be really worried.." she continued as she started to walk towards me in a slight hurry, making her stiff movements more prominent.
"I'm sorry, but those who enter the forest may not leave," I told her as a car rushed passed the bridge.
"B-but I need to s-see my family...." she said.
"That doesn't change anything, now does it?" I replied to her as she started to panic.
"Please!" she panickly said.
"Don't you have family back in the forest?" I told her, "vampire."
"Sigh, they did say that you were a stickler for rules," she said, before rushing at me.
"Rules are there for a reason," I replied, not moving an inch. No doubt the vampire will flee if I dodge and I couldn't risk other vampires escaping the forest when I was busy with this one.
