Her eyes landed on the man lying on the ground. He was face down on the asphalt beside the skid marks left by her car. His black jacket was in tatters, his arms flung out on both sides like a pair of wings. Dried leaves scattered around him, and he wasn't moving.
When Yelan noticed a pool of blood next to him, her body started to shake tremendously, her knees weakened, and she could feel she could pass out anytime soon. Her trembling hands reached out to her hair and held her head with her eyes widened in horror.
"What have I done?" Yelan asked herself, hysterical in her seat.
Did she just kill a man?
'Kill a man…' Her answering thought sent her to another panic.
She glanced back on the empty road through the windshield. The sun was already setting, and not much sound could be heard around her. It was like she was trapped in a deserted area with the man lying on the ground.
That was when her inner demon's voice echoed within her mind.
