Grace's face crumpled, and she backed away, tears streaming down her face. "Fine," she whispered, turning to leave. "I'll come back when you're calm."
She grabbed her bag from the couch and walked toward the door, her footsteps quiet.
Charlotte darted her gaze around, confusion etched on her face. She turned to follow Grace, but Sebastian's voice stopped her.
"Wait, Charlotte," he said, his tone surprisingly warm.
"Get your things first," he added, his eyes softening for a moment before he turned and disappeared into his bedroom.
Charlotte hesitated, then nodded silently, collecting her belongings as Sebastian's door closed behind him.
Outside, she met Grace lighting up a cigarette. She considered questioning Grace about her earlier remarks, but decided against it. Having heard enough for the day, she just wanted to go home, crawl into bed, and sleep it off.
