Seated upon the grand throne of the Rin empire was a small silhouette. The distinguished dignitaries had assembled in the opulent palace hall, their eyes falling upon a sight that defied all expectations. Before them sat a mere child, exuding an air of comfort and authority as though the proceedings about to unfold were solely within his purview. While it was indeed a matter that required his presence, the dignitaries remained unaware of the circumstances that lay before them, leaving them stunned and bewildered by the unexpected scene that greeted them.
The audacity of the young figure perched upon the throne, seemingly unperturbed by the gravity of his position, left the dignitaries in a state of marvel and disbelief. Such a sight was deemed an affront, an abomination that challenged the very foundations of their society.
"Impudence!" cried out one of the dignitaries, his accusing finger pointed towards the child. It was evident to all present that regardless of the youth of the individual before them, the act of usurping the throne carried grave consequences, capable of condemning not only the offender but also generations to come. Yet, the young boy remained composed, exuding an aura of maturity beyond his years as he rested his frail hands on the ornate arms of the throne, his countenance radiating unwavering confidence.
As his gaze swept across the assembly of dignitaries, the young emperor took note of the hierarchy delineated by their arrangement, discerning the relative positions of authority among them. His eyes lingered on a man of imposing stature and regal bearing, clad in resplendent garments that far surpassed the humble attire he himself had appropriated from the former emperor. This man, tall and handsome, bore the unmistakable air of the chancellor.
In the demeanour of the chancellor, the young emperor detected a confirmation of whispers that had circulated beyond the palace walls. Rumours had suggested that the voice of the chancellor resonated more powerfully than that of the emperor himself, who seemed preoccupied with frivolities and vices rather than the affairs of the realm.
The chancellor saw it as an opportunity to take on the responsibilities of the palace and gradually garner the support of the other dignitaries. He could not simply usurp the throne from the emperor because without the seal, the extent of his power would be limited.
As he observed the scene of the young boy seated on the throne with care and interest, he couldn't help but ponder the naivety of the child, who exuded confidence and pride in his eyes. While the others shouted and berated the boy to step down from the throne, the chancellor remained quiet, his thoughts known only to himself.
The dignitaries were unable to step onto the throne, as it was beyond their authority to forcibly remove the young boy. They could only express their objections verbally as they awaited the emperor's arrival. This spectacle amused the young emperor, as he alone knew the true extent of his identity. He took pleasure in the knowledge that he held the power to decree the death of any of the dignitaries present without consequence, including the chancellor himself. However, he chose not to exercise such authority, deeming it inappropriate for his future endeavors.
Remaining silent, the young emperor used this moment to assess the character of each dignitary. While some continued to voice their opinions loudly, others remained quiet with their hands folded in their sleeves, indicating their lower status compared to the rest. The conversation shifted away from him, with insults and accusations directed at the absent emperor, including derogatory remarks likening him to a voracious predator.
Now, the chancellor's silence was quite conspicuous, and this was exactly what he intended. He understood that the scene unfolding before him would provoke the anger of many, giving him the opportunity to pressure the emperor into surrendering the seal in his possession.
He smirked with delight as he listened to the variety of spoken words being uttered.
"I have known the emperor for a long time, having served his father as my master. My master never displayed such insolent behavior during his reign over the Rin's empire. I can only speculate that the trait running through this emperor's veins must be inherited from his mother," remarked the chancellor. He was commonly known as Beetle, a nickname given due to his wealth that made his skin as smooth as a beetle's and his deliberate, unhurried manner, always taking his plans and matters slowly. However, not many were aware of his real name.
"Chancellor Beetle is correct. The previous emperor was highly esteemed by all, and his reputation even extended to other empires. Since his passing and his child assuming control, the state of the empire has deteriorated, and the palace is filled with revelry day and night," echoed another individual, reinforcing the chancellor's statement.
"This cannot be allowed to persist. A solution must be swiftly implemented to prevent a great calamity befalling our Rin empire," they murmured.
"A servant should reflect the conduct of their master," the chancellor remarked, shrugging with both hands, subtly hinting at his intentions. Meaning that only he can clean do justice to the situation.
The others, especially those who had sought his favor, readily understood and agreed with him.
"The emperor's grip on power is weakening. Why not persuade him to relinquish the seal? This way, he could indulge in leisure with wine and women, and the palace would still be his home," remarked one of the chancellor's followers. Some nodded in agreement, while others remained silent, realizing that the situation had reached a point where haste was unwise.
Suddenly, a burst of laughter erupted from a small figure—it was the young emperor, stunning the dignitaries in the hall. Just moments before, they had overlooked the child seated on the throne, but his sudden outburst refocused their attention on him.
Hello everyone! So this is one of the books I worked hard upon. I, the writer would need your motivation and encouragement through interactions like commenting, voting and likewise, reviewing, so that it would not be dropped halfway when the writer does not know the value of what he has written. And of course bad reviews are within expectations as it would make writer know the aspect to improve on. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORTS
