I didn't say taijutsu, I specified "close quarters combat", which has alot more to it than just throwing hands. when not using ninjutsu what do the most powerful shinobi in naruto do? get up close and personal via fist or weapon. not trying to be annoying, I'm just saying if his main goal is survival (which I think it is based on what I remember of previous chapters) he's gonna need more than fuinjutsu when shit hits the fan unless the author introduces some absurd/unique seals. look at the strongest fuinjutsu users in the series and you'll notice most use it to supplement their abilities in combat, not wholly rely on it.

Honestly, the worst part about missions was actually the 'camping in the wilderness' experience. There were no convenient 'camping ten' jutsu that took care of every little problem like many Narutoverse fics portrayed.

should still find a way to improve his cqc skills. seals for all their versatility are situational to the opponent and prep time, get caught off guard, overwhelmed by the enemy's speed or an unknownfactor. you go from acting like a pimp to getting owned like a ho. only specialty who gets the shaft faster is genjutsu (minus sharingan bullshit). not to say seals aren't powerful (lord knows some fics make them busted as shit), but if you cant backup the brush with the sword that fuckers getting chopped in half. (just my opinion)
