Ah okay. Got it.
Her mother jumped in then. "I'd say it goes further than that—most don't even believe in a Creator," she said sadly. "They attribute His work to their own efforts, or the efforts of others… or coincidence."

Greif is a process. It often times takes weeks or months to get over the shock of losing a loved one. The other people in that person's life should be empathetic and understanding and not hold it against the grieving person for acting irrationally during the worst moment of their life. Empathy and compassion is what defines us as humans, and it's kind of a huge problem if we can't have empathy for people who are going the worst type of pain imaginable.
And Aaryn nodded. "Oh, really, Reth? Really? Never?"

What does she mean by "most don't believe in a Creator"? Only 7% of the world is atheist. That doesn't really sound like "most" to me.

The poor guy just lost his mother. She's essentially dead. It's normal and natural for people to lash out while grieving.

Where's the logic in demanding that someone blindly trust you while openly admitting that you're withholding life altering information from them? Trust is something that needs to be earned, and can potentially be lost. Deliberately keeping secrets from your leader is a fantastic way of losing that trust.
Always being there for someone doesn't necessarily mean agreeing with them on everything. Although he could have been nicer about it.
"You stand here in front of me, saying you need me, when you have literally every good-hearted, strong Anima on the entire continent on your side! Every single one! You've been raised in a home full of love and wisdom. You've been guided your whole life by people who not only know what is right and true, but who have the power to make changes when things go wrong. You've been supported, educated, trained and groomed for this, and now you're squealing to me about how hard it's going to be? WAKE UP, ELRETH!" he snarled.

Fantastic story. I don't normally like the soulmate trope very much since authors usually use it as an excuse to resolve all conflicts between the main characters with little to no effort. But this novel is one of the very few that actually does a good job at providing the characters with obstacles to overcome in the relationship in spite of the soulmate bond.
No toxic or abusive romance. The male lead is a genuinely caring and devoted husband. Misunderstandings don't get painfully drawn out and are usually resolved pretty quickly. Overall a very fluffy, sweet story.
You have to admit, Ambrosia is smart. she's not a good person by any means, but she's not an idiot either.
"You will not harm her again," she said, a finality to her tone. "She did nothing to provoke you at dinner. And if you cannot manage to obey that simple order, I will transfer her handling to your brother who has no problem putting what he has learned about humans into practice. She likes him."
