True that in the canon none of the girls became part of an harem, but there would be no point in making a fanfiction if it is going to be exactly the same as the canon. Taking into account that avatar takes place in a feudal era transitioning to an industrial era, it isn’t out of place to have an harem in such a society. Also if it is done well it is nice to read how a protagonist completes his Pokémon team

The world destruction doesn’t necessarily limit the protagonist interactions much with ozai and aang. He could kill aang as long as kills ozai to avoid the world destruction, the only thing that matters is defeating ozai and as long he manages to achieve that he could do anything else
