May I suggest some sort of edit somewhere before this that just off-handly mentions the hours and days and weeks and months spent memorizing various known gem recipes and how he's already selected his preferred for if he ended up as a 1-link, 2-link, 3-link, etc? Maybe even mention a few possibilities for those lesser options.

My horns emerged from the top of my head, their sharp points glinting in the dim light. My hands transformed into a pair of fearsome claws. Spikes and thick black skin covered my body, replacing my clothes. The transformation also changed my skin, giving it a dark and menacing appearance. My ears elongated into an elf's pointed shape, and my demonic tail was thick, ghastly, and long. Three pairs of black wings emerged behind me.
