ps... 😅I understood that the author was referring to Red but, as I said, it was Ash who lost in the top 16 after beating Gary. It's official, the only battles Red lost were before the "tournament". This tournament was only implied (it's an anime thing for Ash) since both in the games and in the manga he goes straight to battle against the elite4.
