So why would he want to become a teacher then instead of traveling the world and learning the magic? Seems like literally the worst possible career path for someone who just wants to study magic... Or do you think its easy to be a teacher? Even their free time is spent on the students.
It wasn't a very exciting dream, but he didn't really have a grand dream. He just wants to craft or learn various magic and continue peeking into the Path of various things. Maybe write a few hundred magic books and maybe become the Headmaster of Hogwarts for a decade or so before retiring and doing something else.
