3rd POV
"H-he's had enough K-K-Kacchan!" A timid green haired boy cried, standing in front of an injured boy. In front of him was a boy with spiky blonde hair, and ruby red eyes. Small sparks jumped from his hands as he approached the two. "Don't you ever learn Deku? A quirkless nobody like you couldn't even protect yourself! Let alone another person!" The blonde boy sneered as he took another step closer. "But don't worry Deku. I'll teach you this lesson as many times as it takes for it to finally stick!" He growled as his fist connected harshly with the other boy's cheek, knocking him to the ground. He scoffed and turned to the brunette, cracking his knuckles.
"K-Kacchan please! d-don't hurt him!" Deku cried as he held his bruised cheek. "Still trying to be a hero Deku?! I guess I went too easy on you!" Kacchan shouted before turning back to the Greenette. Before he could strike him though, a voice stopped him. "Ohhh are you guys playing Heroes and Villains? Can I join?" A feminine voice called out.
They both turned to see a girl around their age, she had long, black hair that stopped right around her knees. Her eyes were as dark as her hair. She stood around an inch taller than both boys and wore a dress that had rips and tears all over it.
"Hellooooo. I said can I play too?" She asked again, snapping the boys out of their observation. Kacchan, or Katsuki, was the first to respond. "We're not playing! Get lost!" He shouted at her as sparks danced around his hands.
Deku, or Midoriya, watched as the girl's face went from one of excitement, to confusion. "Hmmm. But this looks just like Heroes and Villains!" She pointed at Midoriya and the boy cowering behind him. "The Hero protecting the civilian, from.." Her finger found it's way to Katsuki's direction. "..The Villain." Katsuki's face started turning red with anger. "How am I the Villain?! That guy stepped on my shoe!" He shouted while pointing at the boy behind Midoriya.
"B-but he said sorry Kacchan!" He said in defense of the boy. This only made Katsuki angrier. "And you! You're too weak to be a hero! You've got no business trying to defend someone when you can't even defend yourself Deku!" He shouted as the sparks grew more violent. The girl just stood there, taking it what he said, before finally speaking.
"Why does it matter? Being strong isn't what makes Heroes heroes. It's how they protect people from harm." She explained. Izuku was surprised hearing this. Tears started swelling up in his eyes. "S-so... I can be a hero?" He said to himself. "Anyone can be a hero. As long as their heart's in the right place! Whatever that means.." She said the last part to herself. "No!" Katsuki had heard enough. He stomped over to Midoriya and raised his hand. "Weaklings like you have no place being a hero!" Midoriya closed his eyes, bracing for the intense heat, but it never came. "If that's the case, then you shouldn't be a hero either."
Midoriya opened his eyes to see the girl with Katsuki's wrist in her grasp. She started to slowly pull his hand away from Midoriya's face. "W-what'd you say?!" He asked with a slightly pained expression. "I said, if you think weaklings shouldn't be heroes, then you shouldn't either." She responded with a neutral expression. "Who the hell are you calling weak?!" He shouted as he swung his other hand toward her face. She responded by tilting her head slightly to the right, dodging his hand by barely an inch. This surprised Katsuki so much, that he had no time to react to her knee driving itself into his stomach.
Katsuki fell to his knees, clutching his stomach. The girl gave a nonchalant look down at Katsuki, then Midoriya. "See what I mean? No quirk needed to take out a villain." She said with a small smile. Midoriya couldn't fight the redness that spread over his face. Not only because of the smile, but also because of what she had said and done to Katsuki. No one had ever stood up for him before like she did today.
"Ch-cheap shot..." Katsuki groaned, fighting the tears that threatened to spill from his eyes. The girls head tiled a bit as she looked down at him, before smiling. "Wow. I'm surprised you can still speak. That was a pretty harsh knee right?" She said in a bragging manner. The scene of Her knee slamming into Katsuki's stomach replayed in Midoriya's head, turning his face purple.
"Y-you.." The her surprise, The blonde boy slowly stood back up. "W-what's your name?" Aside from the clear expression of pain on the boys face, there was no trace of anger. "Mari Chitari! Future #1!" She replied with no hesitation. Midoriya couldn't help but laugh as she mentioned her name. "What's the joke, Freckles? I wanna laugh too." Her expression turned dark as her face was inches away from his. His laughing stopped as sweat poured down his face. "N-Nothing! No joke!" He shouted as he squirmed backward.
Katsuki pointed at her. "Chitari.. I'll let you win this time! But next time you're gonna get blown sky high!" He shouted. A large smile spread across Mari's face. "So a Rivalry! I'm game Time Bomb!" Katsuki had a small smile of his own plastered on his face. "Just you wait. I'm gonna blow that smile of yours to Kingdom Come!" He shouted as he walked away. "Can't wait to see you try." She replied immediately after.
She cleared her throat before turning back around, making Midoriya jump a bit. "Calm down Freckles. I don't bite." She held her hand out to help him up. He hesitated before taking the hand. "You alright? Took a nasty hook earlier." She asked as she grabbed his jaw and moved his head. Midoriya's face turned a pink hue before replying with a quiet "I'm ok." She let him go and turned around. "Well then I guess I'm done here! See you around Freckles!" She turned around and marched towards the woods.
"W-wait Chitari! Did you really mean it? Can I really be a hero?" Tears started swelling in his eyes. "Of course you can! Just know that I'M gonna be #1! Now stop with the waterworks!" She shouted back, before disappearing into the woods.
