The handsome wretch, thanks to his truly divine sense of observation, couldn't help but notice that the last few villages they had gone through had been completely empty, truly curious.
In his mind, this places were the dens of bipedals creatures from which wretches sometime sprouted out of, it was a like a desolate rabbit hole, like a vacant bird nest, it didn't feel right.
All of the other wretches and monsters in the back of the horde didn't seem concerned by this unusual happening, any other intelligent being could have assumed that these older monsters knew better and that their behavior was to be followed.
But the handsome wretch didn't view himself as simply 'smart', he tought of his person as above them all, mere things that could work as an extension of himself but could be cut off, leaver of dying preys for him and piles of food if needed.
Even they didn't know it, they were all in his service.
The wretch scoffed, gritting his black and pointy teeth as scratched his face with one of his needle-like claws, this action attracted the glamor of the other wretches, who had only seen other stabbing themselves in the face or poking their orbitals out.
Waiting until they made a stop, the wretch rounded up his subjects, only the wretches since his other servants wouldn't understand his speech.
Expressing himself with conviction and power only a great wretch could muster, he led his little group away from the horde, positioning himself in the center of the mess.
Absolutely everyone and everything noticed the wretches leaving but no one cared enough about the lesser monsters to try and stop them, if anything, it was only a gain, they wouldn't have to put up with the auditive pollution without actually losing any combat power.
The wretch thought himself to be a sneaky fellow with that one, relishing in the idea that no one could find him anymore.
As he made sure to only step in the shadows of some trees for no particular reason, he failed to notice the presences that passed by them, the presences ignored the wretches in favor of the more dangerous horde.
But not every single of those presences would ignore the fairly large mess of wretches and so, without even noticing it, the ones at the front of it stumbled upon danger.
The handsome wretch might have forgotten to equate for the fact that the forest was a dangerous place and that little oversight came back to bite him in the ass at an extreme speed.
He clearly noticed one of his meatshields head flying above, spinning madly in the air as blood was sprinkled all around, in response to this attack, the purple eyed monser first rose his head and opened his mouth to catch as much of the blood as possible before yelling for his troops to charge forward while he stayed behind.
Making full use of his brain capacity, the wretch got a nosebleed from the intense thinking unfit for his underdevelopped brain as he devised a foolproof plan.
As his jolly soldiers were getting chopped up and minced without gaining any ground and even losing some, he dug into the ground and hid his treasured items, breaking all of his feeble claws in the process, he just put the shattered finger weapons alongside his treasure before moving on to the next step of his plan.
Making use of his fallen brothers and sisters corpses, he covered himself in sticky blood and guts, dragging discarded limbs and corpses over himself.
Thus was completed the masterplan, truthfully, the smart wretch didn't have to go so far with his plan, the danger in question would never suspect a wretch to even be smart enough to think about running or hiding that they didn't check the dead bodies or anything else really.
Still, he didn't move an inch for as long as he could hear the voices of the danger, there were multiple voices, he felt like the words they were speaking were the same or at least similar to that, the monsters that could speak had been spouting.
Though their speech sounded less archaic and more fluid, the wretch didn't like the sound of it any better.
They took their time, only deciding to move their bums hours after he had started playing dead, he heard them laugh and make weird noises for too long.
What could they even be laughing about? They had since long killed the wretches, there shouldn't anything fun to do anymore.
After finally feeling like it was quiet enough to emerge from his gory hideout, the wretch looked around to only see a single thing, a campfire, everything else was pitch black and only a few sounds were to be heard in the dead of night.
Carefully approaching the light, he could see that the danger had decided to sleep right there, they hadn't even settle somewhere further than where the corpses of his brethen were.
Was it laziness? The wretch didn't know but a wretch's corpse was a fair bit like a live wretch, only useful in an isolated area and a dead one served as very good, short-lived repellant.
Most monsters could feel that they would get sick from eating that and as such, they avoided it, the danger had settled here because they knew nothing would approach for the night, this part of the forest was calm too, so there decision would have normally caused no bad repercussions.
However, this time was an exception and their confidence would turn against them.
They hadn't even left any one to look out for any danger, seeing these village dwellers outside of villages and asleep, the wretch could see that they were vulnerable and searched on the ground for the place he had buried his claws and treasure.
When asleep, they wouldn't even notice the awkward movements of the wretch as it neared their fragile self, softly putting the claws near the throat of the first and placing his palm above it before roughly pushing it down.
The drowned pain felt exceptionally pleasing to the ears of the monsters, much better than when he had been picking up the leftovers of others, everything was so calm, he could hear and enjoy every moment as he looked straight into the eyes of the fool.
He did the same thing for the second one but when time came to finish the last one, the wretch noticed a peculiar thing appear in front of him, another one of those notifications but this one wasn't the same.
It was gone just as fast as it came and after feeling slightly lightheaded, the wretch finsihed off the last one, an idea had sprouted in his mind but understanding what the notifications had told him, he would rather get rid of this danger right now.
*You will soon evolve, your evolution will go accordingly with what has been put into your evolutive mithridate*
Feeling suddenly hungry, the wretch ate everything available, unable to fill his stomach even after devouring multiple his own weight, he fell asleep right there and then, repeating the same mistake the village dwellers had commited.
