Bizinda lamented as she stood atop a building, she would have been able to see far and wide normally, but as if intentionally covering the tracks, a heavy downpour had suddenly befallen the town and surroundings.
The clouds were dense and dark, completely covering the sky, still, the night wasn't so dark.
The flashes of lightning made the deep darkness seem inconsequential and the cracks if thunder added another auditibe disturbance, as if the constant violent rain was enough.
The smell of blood was being washed away and covered up, the sun walking vampire was starting to doubt that she would find the wretch anytime soon.
"Dammit" she cursed under her breath as she moved on from her position, not caring for the constant sound of mettalic tings and tangs as the drops hit her armor or for her drenched hair.

In another part of town, a certain little girl was having trouble falling asleep due to the loud rumbling of the thunder.
She opened her eyes in defeat, unable to force sleep to come, she looked around the large room, supposed to be able to house a dozen of children, filled with nothing but herself and the bed she layed on.
The first few nights had been terrible but after a month, she had grown accustomed to the dark corners and creaking all around the place, telling herself that her parents would come pick her up eventually.
The door to the room was open, as it always was, she looked over, seeing the faint light coming from the end of the hallway, on the right.
An oil lamp was always left for the children to be able to see some light, would they need to go out of their rooms for any reason and also to reassure them.
Superstes looked over, hoping to see the big, friendly wolf-dog pass by but he was most likely asleep, unbothered by the weather.
He didn't have a name, everyone just called him, 'the dog' or other nicknames relating to that but no true name, he looked more like a wolf than a dog, making him quite the intimidating guardian.
The little girl looked over at the ceiling, which was covered in darkness, apart from the light in the hallway, everything was dark.
She moved her feet a bit and noticed that she didn't seem to be in the right position, as in, her feet her lower than usual, it didn't feel like she was laying completely flat, despite definitely being.
She raised her body and looked at the end of the bed, not seeing anything.
Until lightning flashed.
The reason for the strange feeling of her position not being right was due to the fact that someone was sitting on the very end of her bed, their weight making the mattress cave in a bit more.
She gasped with a sound, not managing to make a sound.
The figure seemed completely dark and was turning their back to her, they had messy, somewhat long black hair and were dressed in dark as well.
She eased up since the figure was small, so she figured that it was another of the children in the orphanage, this didn't meant she felt safe enough to make a sound or move at all, she just hoped however that was, that they would stand up and leave.
They did stand, but they didn't leave.
The light provided by the lightning was long gone when she felt the a weight removing itself where the figure had been sitting.
Only to be replaced by another, only this time, it was clear what was happening, the person was just standing on the bed and walking forward.
In an instant, she felt two hands wrap around her neck and stopping her from breathing.
"I have spent much time observing you people, I have pretty much figured you humans out" spoke the figure, it wasn't a person's voice, it was ugly, it was hoarse, it was as pleasant someone scratching a blackboard.
"I'll admit, you aren't cattle, but honestly, I think I wouldn't dislike you so much had you been so" Superstes tried to push the thing away but it was no use, she was too weak to do anything.
"You all are disgraceful, your very forms spit in the face of a great existence like myself, none of you were worth considering, weak, frail, sickly, mentally impaired, delusional, contradictory, how can you all live with knowledge of your own existence?" the voice was spiteful but convinced, it had no doubts about anything it was saying.
"And yet... I was scarred by one of you? By a low species that has only inspired me contempt? What a world we live in! I have been here for not even two months and I am already faced by the impossible!"
"In any case, I noticed that some of you take great pride in their role of protectors, I am certain the guard will be hurt if you die" the wretch stated matter of factly as another flash of thunder illuminated the room.
Right as it flashed, the wretch looked to the side, toward the open door, but only seeing that massive beast that had run up to him while he was too busy speaking his disdain for humans.
Immediately, he removed his hands from the girl's neck and raised them defensively, his left arm was gripped tightly in the maw of the canine.
A wave of pain flowed through his entire body as a loud crack sounded and many time over as the dog pulled the lightweight monster of the bed as he shook him like a ragdoll, easily swinging him around and against the ground repeatedly.
Still, the wretch was exceptionally squishy when needed, no apart from the lacerated and broken arm, his bruises where minor, for the moment.
Growing hook claws from his feet, he did his best to anchor himself to the wooden ground, feeling the claws almost rip off instantly from the animal's brutal strength.
Stabilised enough, claws extended from his right hand, slashing the dog face and most importantly, slashing at the eye within reach, making the beast let go of him by throwing him back suddenly.
Which totally made the hook claws pop off as the wretch hit the wall, it seemed like he had no bones as he struck it flat and slid down, before suddenly standing back up as if he was a possessed puppet, the sound of his bones popping back in place filled the room right before another flash came.
The massive dog was still growling at him and seeming very much ready to attack again whilst the little girl was gone, the monster hadn't paid attention to her at all, as he was busy being mauled.
The animal was locked on to him as he took a look at his left arm, which was dangling lifelessly.
"You damned mutt, I have killed and eaten many of your kind on the streets, I'll gargle on you blood" he threatened.
Preparing to move and take down the annoying beast before it could realise how fast he could go when the wretch heard the sound of glass shattering right behind itself, he turned around to see a source of light before moving close the ground avoid a slash.
"Ah, so we're having a party? Me, you, the dog and a little kid, sorry but I don't think we should be playing house at our ages" commented the wretch as it frowned strongly, not having expected this to happen.
